Baron Customs is incredibly rich, owning most of the city. He is known is to be shrewd in business but fair. He has many legitimate businesses that everyone has heard of, and many illegitimate businesses that no one has heard of. He is number one on the Agency's list to infiltrate and observe, Unfortunately, their past plans have never worked out, and at the moment, their current plan is not looking good.
"Ok, so it seems we can't do that either," the one man says as he slumps into a chair around the small conference table. The room is not much more than a closet, and with the table, chairs, and 4 total people in it, tiny is a better descriptor. The others around the room nod their heads, too, realizing their latest failure. "Sam," the rather short lady with the brown hair says, "Who could have known the field would be turf?" The other guy chimes in with, "Lauren is right, you can't blame yourself."
Sam straightens up after a heavy sigh, "I know Cam, but it seemed so perfect...convince Customs to have a charity sporting event at his summer house, then get our team to be the grounds crew for installation and upkeep during the event." He gets disgusted with it and slumps down again. "Well, I guess we gotta try something else," Lauren starts, and Cam finishes with a chuckle, "unless the Agency has a football team." The room grows quiet again. The only person who has not spoken yet asks, "Do we?"
Sam, who had closed his eyes, opens them again. "Good question: do we?" Cam looks over at him with a confused look. Sam continues before anyone else can say anything, "Who says we go as groundskeepers? Maybe we go as part of the team?" They each chuckle at his crazy idea. Lauren is the first to say it, "That has got to be the craziest idea you have ever had...and believe me, that is saying something." Her remarks do not stop the grin across his face.
Several minutes later, he finishes his outline. By now, they have all warmed to the idea, but new problems present themselves. The game is football, which none of them are built for. The teams are made up of females only, playing on a shortened field. But the biggest hurdle is: the teams are made up of androids. Not to be deterred, Sam plows ahead with his idea of Lauren and Desirae pretending to be androids to get on the grounds of the Baron's large estate. They will obviously be faulty and need a tech crew, which will be Sam and Cam. Once they are called in to "fix" them, all 4 will be inside and can learn as much as possible. A debriefing afterwards should net them lots of intel on Baron Customs.
Lauren and Desirae were not too sure of the plan from the start, and now, as the next evening has come and gone, they are even less sure as they are standing nearly naked in gray panties and matching bra. Their skin has been shined to a high sheen with the best quality car wax. Their hair has been treated with a type of oil to give it a more synthetic look. From a distance, you would not be able to tell they are really human.
"How did we get ourselves into this?" Lauren asks Desirae. The other agent just shrugs her shoulders, flashing a helpless smile. Lauren groans as she moves towards the transport box. Cam has opened the lid and pulled out a form-fitting box liner. Under it is another, for another android. "Ok," Sam says, "I think we are ready." "We?" Lauren nearly spits it out, "We, being me and Desirae, are getting ready to put our lives on the line for your crazier-than-ever idea. So before you put yourself into 'we', you should step back and take a look at yourself." Sam, not backing down, replies, "I have, and I'm dressed like a tech." His loose-fitting jumpsuit covers nearly his entire body, "We are in this together, Lauren, so get off your high horse."
Desirae sees a fight coming on, so she just climbs into the transport box. The rather tall lady, with more-than-enough-curves, fits snugly into the box. She fills the space, as she feels the foam pushing in on her. Her sexy sheen looks breathtaking against the flat black foam. Her chest sticks up from the foam a bit, meaning she may not be in the foam container all the way. Cam gives her a thumbs up and pushes Lauren's form-fitting foam container on top of her, pressing Desirae in even tighter. Lauren and Desirae will be riding together, one on top of the other. The sound of their arguing goes soft as the foam drowns them out. They have already tested breathing in here (which works fine) and moving, which there won't be any of that. They will be completely helpless once placed into the box.
With the lid locked down, Lauren and Desirae can feel themselves being moved around. They are eventually loaded onto the van and begin their trip to the android warehouse. Once there, they will be entered into the system and loaded with the other androids, bound for Baron Customs' summer house. With nothing to do but think, Lauren and Desirae try to settle themselves into the life of being an android...well, Desirae thinks to herself, just temporarily.
At the warehouse, Sam and Cam unload the box. The workers there take possession of it, allowing them to leave and get in position for "the call." Lauren and Desirae see light coming in as the lid is opened. Both of their hearts skip a beat, as their containers are lifted out by a series of robotic arms. They are placed on the floor with a thump, while a human worker steps up to them. Their breathing seems heavy to them, but whoever the worker is, he makes no sound of being suspicious.
They both can feel a slight warming sensation as the man scans their bodies with his handheld device. Looking at them and then back at his screen, he states, "Alright, one standard model IS-14 and one standard model JH-12." Lauren and Desirae don't know which one is which, but I guess it doesn't really matter, they figure. The man leans over each of them and puts a different device up to their closed eyelids. Without them knowing it, two QR codes are printed onto their lids for identification. They can then "see" a red light over the eyes and hear a beep. "Alright, all checked in. Take them away!"
And with that, they are loaded back in the box and shipped out of the warehouse. While Lauren and Desirae were quite nervous when the box was opened and they were as vulnerable as they could be, it really has not been bad. Sure, Lauren thinks to herself, I would rather be anywhere else but here, yet they just keep trying to relax in a form-fitting box, bouncing along the road from place to place. This will all be over soon, Desirae thinks to herself, just have to make it through the "broken bot" part.
They had studied his summer home layout, so they were familiar with it. Not that is mattered, as they were in a sealed box in the back of a truck with other android boxes. They could picture the winding driveway and the trees that lined it. They could picture the back garage area for the groundskeepers, as they bumped past the house into the backyard. But when the vehicle stops, they start to get nervous again...when will they get out?
Nearly 30 minutes goes by, as they wait anxiously with all the others. Eventually, they can hear the truck doors opening and the boxes being removed. They can feel theirs being lifted, moved, and then sat down. The lock is opened, and their form-fitting liner is removed with them in it by a portable robotic lift. Keeping their eyes closed, they both nearly jump out of their skin, when cold metal hands grab them by the waist. The strong grip picks them up and stands them on the cold concrete floor.
They so want to look, but since they are not sure who might be watching, they stand at attention, head slightly bowed. They can hear voices of people milling about them, and no one sounds suspicious. They can hear other boxes opening and items being moved around. One voice seems to be heard over the others, and he is making them doubt their plan.
"Ok, put each droid in a uniform. They get spandex shorts, articulated tops, knee-high boots, and face guard. Put 25 in the lime green and put the other 25 in the royal blue. Doesn't matter which, cuz we will be programming them anyway. We will turn them on later." Later? Lauren and Desirae think sadly, how much later?
The human workers take little time in getting them all dressed. The lady-droids can feel their feet being pulled up one at a time and shorts being slipped over them. With a brisk tug, the spandex shorts are pulled into place. The top is some sort of armor as it covers from wrist to neck and half way down their backs. Their breasts are covered completely in the hard plastic, leaving their midriff bare. The boots seemingly have no heel and feel like a pair of athletic shoes. Their are pulled to just above the knee, and secured together with hidden velcro. Lastly, a face guard is hooked over their ears, and they can feel pressure around the outside of their face. Hmmm, Lauren thinks, must be like the ones I wore in high school when I was on the softball team.
"Ok, let's fire them up!" This is the part they knew would come. All the droids will turn on as expected, except for Lauren and Desirae. They will remain "off" which will require a tech crew. Sam and Cam should be on the outskirts of town, waiting for the call to happen. Ok, they remind themselves, this is it.
But, they find their bodies stiffen, then their eyes snap open as their heads snap up. No one is more surprised than them, as they seemingly turned on with the other droids. "Upload the field specs." Lauren's and Desirae's heads are filled with all the dimensions of the shortened football field in the backyard. They even have the latitude and longitude coordinates of each yard line, out of bounds, goal, etc. It was a staggering amount of information.
As they get used to the flood of information, they take in their surroundings. The groundskeeper garage is as expected, except for the 50 females standing at attention in colorful uniforms and clear, plastic face guards. Each droid looks a little different with hair style, height, weight, and skin color. They must have pulled from every place to fill this order, Lauren guesses. Desirae makes a quick note, that their is little diversity in the droids...almost all white.
"Upload teams and positions." Lauren and Desirae now get plays sent into their heads, relative ID numbers of each teammate, cheers, and basic personality protocols. Lauren questions: cheers? Why would I need that? Desirae questions are different: bootleg, flea-flicker, sack, crossing pattern? What is all that supposed to mean? I don't even have a sack.
"Looks like we got green lights all around!" Lauren and Desirae are finally brought back to reality. Why are there 'green lights' for them? Why are they acting like androids? And why in the world do they have to 'mouth off' at the ref whenever a yellow flag is thrown against their team?
Whatever answers they need will have to wait, as all 50 droid players run out of the garage. The Sun feels good on them as they run down a red carpet, leading to the temporary stadium. Baron Customs had a small field and stands constructed for the event. Several hundred people can sit in the comfortable bleachers, with room for others to stand. Lauren runs in stride with her teammates, waving to the fans already cheering for the Blue Diamonds. Desirae runs faster than she has in a really long time, also waves to the fans cheering for the Green Lightning. It does not take long for the teams to line up on the sidelines, facing each other across the field.
Three female referees walk to midfield. Their tight latex pants and striped shirts are rather sexy looking. They have whistles hanging from their necks and black and white ball caps on their heads. Two of each team meet them in the middle for the "coin toss." Desirae keeps thinking that this seems like the dumbest event ever. Who would pay for this?
Baron Customs was thinking the same thing, until nearly a thousand people showed up today. Each one playing hundreds of credits just for the day and much more than that for a weekend pass. Men and woman alike, dressed casually fill the stands. Male androids serve drinks and food, assuming you purchased a meal ticket that morning. Baron can see the money just rolling in, and all of his illegal money merging with it, making this the best money laundering scheme he has ever done. As he sits in his "box" seats with others in his crime ring, he can only smile. Sipping his imported drink from a cheap plastic sports team cup, he says to no one in particular, "It is great to be me."
The first half is rather confusing for Desirae, who had never cared for football. She was the 'quarterback', so they kept giving her the ball. The weirdest part was sticking both her hands up and under the one bot's butt. She would yell something, then get the ball from that bot. From there, she might pass or hand it off or run with it. She could see lines and colors in her vision, telling her what she is about to do. She has never thrown a football before, but you couldn't tell from her performance. And with each completion, she got praise and cheers from the fans. It was intoxicating.
For Lauren, the first half just hurt. She was on defense for the other team, so she was in on all the tackling. Those bots are hard, she thinks as another one rolls onto her after she tackles the bot with the ball. Ow, she moans to herself, this is really rough...even for me. I hope they stop the running plays, cuz those hurt the most. Uh oh, what defense am I moving to? She also has lights and lines to show her what she is about to do. A blitz? I guess I'm coming for you, Desirae.
True to her programming, Lauren went after Desirae. Desirae's programming had her run away, trying to throw the ball downfield. Desirae was forced to follow the line programmed into her, even though she could see Lauren coming at her. Lauren? Desirae smiles to herself, at least she won't hit me as hard as some of the others. At that moment, Lauren leaps into the air and makes a flying tackle into Desirae. She leaves her feet as well, as both of them fly through the air. Desirae hits the ground first, and Lauren drives her into it. Desirae cannot remember a time when she was in more pain.
As she lays on the ground, Lauren gets up onto her knees and pumps both fists in the air. The crowds roar with excitement. Sorry, D, Lauren thinks to Desirae, I had no choice. And with that, she gets up screaming and yelling and hugging her teammates, just as her program told her to do. Desirae slowly gets up, handing the ball to the ref. She can hear the announcer say, "And the Lightning's quarterback was dropped for a sack..." Oh, Desirae says to herself, so that is what sack means.
