Trying to do more of these.  This one's about art and complications.

The Daughter’s Display

Oh, yes, this is my eldest daughter.  Isn’t she festive?

Yes, she enrolled in that upscale artistic college, the Orphelea Conservatory, a couple years ago.  Very competitive program.  I admit, I was a tad disappointed she didn’t go to a college with a more practical curriculum, but still, getting accepted was no small feat.

Well, she spent three very expensive semesters there, earning excellent marks in questionable courses, but then…

(Sighs) I warned her not to get involved in that magical stuff.  ‘Keep your kinks and your class work separate’ I told her, but she never listened to her mother.  And I don’t think she realized I knew about her, really, quite elaborate erotica collection.  She tried to pass them off as art books in high school, but she never fooled anyone.  Looking at her now, I suppose you can guess the type of art in those collections.

Well, of course she ignored me.  Of course she signed up for a semester of demonstration as part of a magical artistic piece, and of course she got herself turned into a helpless living latex bondage exhibit.  She’s solid latex now, ever so slightly animated, just enough to wriggle a bit, which sends her swinging on her mounting like a pendulum.  The ropes and rigging are enchanted, part of the piece, and can’t be removed.

Go ahead and touch her.  She specified that she’d be a ‘hands-on’ piece.  Something about ‘participating in the artistic process’ and ‘audience participation’.  When she was on display in Orphelea they had to wipe her down regularly because male students got, how did the conservatory put it?  Oh, yes, ‘carried away by the artistic expression’.  Honestly, that school…

Anyhow, the magic was supposed to greatly magnify physical sensation.  She can’t see anything, or speak, or smell or taste.  It’s unclear if she can hear us.

But, of course, things went wrong.  The witch student she was collaborating with messed up a spell and turned herself into modeling clay.  I think she turned out as a rather tacky sculpture, to be honest, but by the time she was finished the school realized the spell was permanent.  It shouldn’t have been much of an issue for my daughter, but this would-be-witch was dreadfully sloppy with her spell work.  She layered some bizarre cantrips and conditions into this piece, and even with her notes on one at Orphelea could make heads or tails of her reversal procedure.

So, after some flatly exhausting conversations with the student bursar, I had her returned home.  We’ve had some professionals look at her; the metaphysical stability is dwindling, but it won’t become irreversibly permanent for several more months.  If we can’t find a Mage-Tech capable of unravelling that haphazard spellwork, she’ll be a permanent bondage piece by August.

Her father and I are debating if we want to attempt it.  In the meantime, we’ve kept her in storage most of the last few months, but I think she lends the room a lovely holiday feel, so I’ve had her installed out here for a while.  I’ve shown her off a bit and I’ve gotten a few interesting offers; an art gallery, a high-end strip-club, this one hotel that’s looking to spice up their lobby… of course, the transformation needs to be permanent before we can sell her.

And to think, I always told her she wouldn’t make any money with her art.
