The Grey Jedi, Sofi'a, steeled herself, using the force to pull out her lightsaber and taking a defensive stance.
"I'm one with the Force. The Force is with me," she chanted under her breath, feeling her pursuers draw closer.
Her mind flashed back to that moment nearly a year ago, where
she had rematched with that Sith Apprentice and lost. Had it not been for her master being there, she probably would have lost more than her sight and her arms.
"I'm one with the Force. The Force is with me."
Whatever ancient power that apprentice had been drawing upon had done far more than what modern medicine or even Jedi healing was able to handle. Even the robotic replacements some Jedi had received for similar wounds would not react to her call.
"I'm one with the Force. The Force is with me."
Less than a Lunar Cycle after the incident, their temple had been attacked, razed to the ground by an imperial destroyer while she had been undergoing yet another attempt at returning her sight. The hospital had been destroyed the day after she had left it.
"I'm one with the Force. The Force is with me."
It was then that she knew she was being hunted, and a burning hatred had found a place in her heart. So, she did the only thing she could think of.
She ran away.
"I'm one with the Force. The Force is with me."
She abandoned the order, traveling to a mostly deserted planet and hiding out for several months, training herself to see once again through the force, attempting to find a balance that had seemingly eluded her ever since her master's death.
"I'm one with the Force. The Force is with me."
Her voice was nearly inaudible, the threatening presence now only feet away. She waited patiently for her opponent to make the first move, hoping that one way or another, she would finally be able to stop running.
