The video opened up with Martin, dressed in a white button up shirt, blue blazer, and gray slacks leaning against a metal stool situated in front of a blank canvas.

“Hey everyone. I’m International Class Magician, Martin Horn, and today I’m going to be answering some of the questions you all have sent in for me.” He clapped his hands together loudly, rubbing them excitedly as he explained, “I’ve been really looking forwards to this. I hope you all didn’t go easy on me just because I’m the new guy.”

The scene cut, and now Martin was holding a plain looking cell phone (the logo conveniently blackened out by a piece of black tape and the model disguised by a bulky phone case so that it couldn’t be seen what type of phone it was). As he read the question aloud, a little graphic displayed on the bottom 1/4 of the screen that also listed out the question.

“Hey Martin... must be great to be the new host for ANGA. I wonder how you managed to get so far in getting where you are as a host and magician?” -Rei (@@quad2)

“Thanks for the question, Rei,” Martin flashed a shiny white smile at the camera, “I’m afraid I don’t have much experience as a host, which is why I’m glad I’ve got Drake to handle all of those duties. I honestly don’t think I would know the first thing about all the behind-the-scenes stuff necessary to have a show like ANGA run as smoothly as he makes it appear.

As for how I’ve gotten so far as a magician? I’d like to think it’s that sort of combination of luck and skill that has managed to get me this far. You know, when all the other kids my age were busy playing games, I was working in my garage trying to come up with a new illusion so I could be the next Houdini. Frankly, I don’t know how my folks could deal with it,” Martin chuckled.

“But, you know, there’s definitely a ton of really talented magician’s out there who don’t really get a shot for one reason or another. So my best advice for any aspiring magician out there, wondering when they’re going to get their big break, just keep plugging away and giving it your all. One day the roulette will land on your number, and you’ll feel on top of the world when it does.”

Martin chuckled again, “Sorry to go off on that tangent, Rei. I hoped I answered your question well enough though. Thank you for the question,” he flashed another one of his white smiles, before going back to the phone and reading the next question.

“What's your favorite genre of music? I like anything that uses a guitar honestly. It helps give my magic variety.” -Jeanne (@@quad2)

“Oh man. We’re really getting into the hard stuff now,” Martin smiled, rubbing the back of his head.

“I’m afraid my answer’s probably really basic, but I’m a pretty big Classic Rock sort of guy. You know, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Queen, Misc. Gremlins, The Who. The ones that everyone’s probably heard a thousand times already,” Martin chuckled and shrugged, “but I don’t know! You know, these guys are considered Classics for a reason. A lot of their stuff is still super fresh even today.”

“Also, I can relate with you about liking the guitar. I really feel that a lot of modern music has lost the sort of majesty and grandness that a really good guitar solo can add to a song,” to accentuate his point, Martin made a little gesture in the air as though he were lifting the neck of an air guitar up and then back down quickly.

“So yeah. I’m sorry it’s a weak answer, but it’s the truth. Thanks so much for the question Jeanne.” Martin gave another smile, before moving on to the next question.

“Hallo Martin, congratulation on attempting to become a World Class Magician, hope you make it and get a wonderful Assistant on your side. Also, what was your motivation to get into the Magic Biz, besides doing stuff that is for most unbelievable and somewhat uncanny?

Looking forward to your Answer and Chat in future.

-Best Regard Andrea” -Andrea (@@Jeaune)

“Firstly, Thank you so much for the kind words Andrea,” Martin’s smile hadn’t left his face the entire video thus far, and it was no exception as he continued, “Seriously, they mean a lot.

As for my motivation to get into the Magic Business… I mean, you sort of hit the nail on the head with getting to do magic as my primary source of income. Not many other people besides magicians get to say they get to bend the laws of nature for their job,” Martin chuckled.

“I guess the reason, besides the aforementioned fun stuff, would be for the same reason a lot of other magicians took careers in the field. They were inspired by the greats that came before them. You know, your David Angel and Howard Weiss types, that came into the game and completely shook everything up,” Martin looked on nostalgically into the distance as he continued. “You know? If I’ll be happy if I’m able to leave half a big a mark on the Magic industry as the other greats.”

Martin shook his head, “Sorry for getting too real on that one. Boy! This is a ton of fun. I can see why David added this section to the show proper. Thank you so much for the question Andrea, and I’m looking forwards to chatting with you some more too.” He flashed one more bright smile at the camera, before moving on to the next question.

“Wow, nice teeth... er... need to think of a question. Have you heard of Pretty Pink before? I just want to know if anyone remembers her.” -Rosa (@@quad2)

“Well, thank you Rosa. My dentist works hard to make sure I have a nice smile,” He grinned.

“I’m afraid I’ve never heard of Pretty Pink. What is it? It sounds a bit like an anime, which I’m afraid is way beyond my childhood. Or is it like that K-Pop band… Oh gosh, what’s their name,” Martin was snapping his fingers, his eyes darting around looking for an answer that wasn’t coming to his mind

From somewhere out of frame, a female voice asked, “Black Pink?”

Martin finished snapping his finger, pointing off screen at whoever had given the answer, “Thank you! Yeah. That’s who I was trying to think of.”

Martin sighed, holding up his hand in defeat, “I’m sorry Rosa, I’m afraid I don’t really have any clues who or what Pretty Pink is. I know it’s not the answer you were probably looking for, but I’m sure that there are other people who most likely remember it. Thanks for the question,” Martin shrugged, before moving on to the next question.

“Hello. My name is Noel Isobel Brandy Pastel Pasteur Livington and I am a recent graduate of Puffington School of Sorcery and Alchemy. Do you mind letting me connect with you on networking apps?” -Noel (@@quad2)

“Alchemy, huh? It’s great to hear that there are still schools that encourage students to study the old magic classics,” Martin laughed, “I’ve never been all that big a fan of Alchemy myself, I feel like it relies a bit too heavy on the Philosopher’s Stone for its spells, but to each their own,” he shrugged.

“Any ways, I’m afraid that if you’re interested in hooking up with me via social networking, you’re going to have to get in contact with my social media team. I don’t really have much control over that stuff myself,” Martin shrugged, “I really don’t like the idea of social media all that much, honestly. I mostly just have that stuff because my agent recommended it. I’d really just be fine with doing it the old fashioned way of hoping that people show up when you announce your show,” Martin laughed.

“But don’t worry, I’ll make sure to put a good word for you Ms. Noel Isobel Brandy Pastel Pasteur Livington,” Martin winked, flashing another one of his smiles at the camera before looking back at the phone and reading the next question.

”Since you are very well accomplished for someone about to become an official World Class Magician, there’s something I really want to know. Out of all the things you’ve done, all the tricks, shows, everything magic-related, what would you consider to be your best performance? Sorry if this ends up being hard to answer.” -@@FlagsOtherSide

“Ha ha,” Martin laughed, “Don’t worry about giving me hard questions. David already told me that some of the fans of this show really like to throw some hard-balls.

And boy, that definitely is a toughie,” Martin blew out some air, adjusting his blazer slightly, “What do I consider my best performance…”

Martin mulled the question over in his head, “Well… I’m sorry. I’m just trying to think of a good answer that’s not boring, you know? Because if I were being honest, I think that my personal favorite was my first performance after I got my first National license. It was at an open stage night at some random dive bar in New Mexico in between my regular shows. I went in really unprepared, but I couldn’t wait the two extra days for my next scheduled show in order to celebrate. The crowd went ballistic but I’d be hard pressed to say that it was my best performance ever, you know?”

Martin bobbed his head back and forth, before saying, “I guess, if we’re talking best performance from a purely technical standpoint, my ‘best performance’ happened during my licensing test in Mali. The judges present gave me a perfect score, which isn’t all that rare for a simple licensing test, but none of them listed constructive criticism, which typically they usually have some comments on how you could have performed better. Personally, I still think there was a lot of stuff I could have improved that night, like I don’t think my timing wasn’t all that great and I could have gone for some more complicated stuff,” Martin shrugged, “but it’s whatever.”

“And I guess that’s sort of the issue, you know? You ask what I think was my best performance, but for the most part I sort of only remember the stuff I’ve done wrong. Because what’s important to improve on isn’t the stuff you’re good on, but the stuff that you’re not. I guess if I really had to make a decision, it would honestly most likely be something from my C-Class or B-Class license days? Because I didn’t really know enough about stage magic to know what I was messing up, those memories all sort of stick in my mind as really positive ones.”

“I don’t think that was the answer you were looking for, but I hope you still liked it. Thank you so much for the great question!” Martin smiled, moving back to the phone.

“When are we going to find out about the contestants for this season?” -ANGA Production Staff

“Ha ha. Very funny guys,” Martin said sarcastically, “You know, the schedules are all online already. It’s not like I have to make it an official announcement.”

Martin grinned at the camera, “Well, if you’re really curious America, I’m happy to announce that the big reveal for who the contestants are is going to happen next week. We’re planning on releasing one a day, all leading up to the very first episode of Season 3 of ANGA happening in two weeks.

Just like last year, we’re going to be featuring their audition tapes on the website, where you’ll be able to talk to the contestants and give them your comments and questions directly, kind of like this AMA was with me,” Martin grinned, “Hopefully you all will be able to give them as good of a time as I did answering questions.”

“Speaking of which, I’m afraid that’s all the time I had or questions today,” Martin stood up, placing the phone on the stool behind him, “It’s been an absolutely wonderful time, and I’d just like to say if you have any further questions, feel free to leave them in the comments section, and I’ll do my best to get around to answering them when I can.”

“I hope that you all are looking forwards to Season 3!” Martin waved, as he walked off stage right, the video fading to black.
