“Um Zach?”

“Yeah?” Zach mumbled into his pillow.

     “Something’s up. I can’t feel my body.”

“Mm. Have you tried turning your bluetooth off and on?” Zach adjusted his position on the bed a little, freeing his mouth in the process.

“Like three times. Can you try manually resyncing me?”

“Fine.” Zach said, a loud banging sound coming from the closet.

The clouds outside shifted, sunlight beaming down directly into the girl’s face. She squinted as she asked, “Could you just do it with your main?”

Zach sighed, sitting up and muttering, “This is why I told you to invest in an extra body, Trish.” Zach reached down, feeling around Trish’s neckline until he found the release popping off Trish’s head from her unresponsive body. Both the top of her now empty shoulders and the bottom of her neck were covered in an extra layer of skin, an extra feature the two lovebirds had splurged for when they bought her bionic upgrades, finding the metal lock points a little too disturbing to look at.

“Yeah, yeah,” Trish rolled her eyes, as Zach placed her back on her body, giving her head a good twist to make sure that it was locked on, “With how expensive parts are nowadays, you should consider yourself lucky that your job just gave you a second body.” In the back of her mind, Trish could feel as the systems wired into her brain did their best to reestablish a physical connection with her body.

“I don’t know if I would consider risking my body every time I go into a burning building a particularly lucky job, so I think that it’s a fair trade,” Zach reached down, kissing Trish on the forehead and looking lustfully into her eyes, “Besides. I don’t remember you complaining when I first brought it home.” He moved his eyebrows up and down in a playful manner, causing Trish to blush at the memory.

“Whatever,” Trish stuck out her tongue, her playful look quickly turning into a frown as a little pop-up appeared in her vision, informing her that she was unable to connect to the body that she had just been attached to. “Zach. The connection failed.”

“Alright,” Zach said, standing up “what’s the error code?”

     “0501-S3B” Trish read off.

Zach threw on a shirt, before once again clicking on the release and once again removing Trish’s head from her body. He gave her a quick kiss on the cheek, before carrying her out of the room, “You can look it up on the internet, while I cook us up some breakfast.”

“Zach. I found something… And it’s not good.” Trish said as Zach came into the living/dining room, carrying a tray with two plates of scrambled eggs, bacon, and hash browns; and two mugs of coffee.

“What’s up?” Zach placed it on the table, sitting down next to where he had placed her head so that they could still talk while he cooked.

“Here, I’ll throw it up on the TV,” Trish said, concentrating as she sent the video link she was viewing in her head to the TV.

It was a news video, the head of a TV anchorwoman talked as the headline, ‘New Update Causing Massive Global Problems’ scrolled underneath. “Our top story today, millions across the country have awoken trapped in their own bodies, as the recent firmware update release by Droenin Electronics have caused the parts of owners everywhere to freeze up. With us to discuss is chief engineer of Droenin Electronics, Victor Korman. So, what’s causing this issue Victor?”

An interview window of a rather frazzled looking, forty-something appeared as he did his best to explain. “Well, the automatic update that we released yesterday evening seemed to accidentally set off the piracy protections that we had in place on our synthetic body parts prior to 2017 and is causing them to lock up and be unresponsive to any form of connection. Our current recommendation for owners of older models is if they have manual updates turned on, to avoid this most recent update and wait, and for those with automatic updates to plug in their bodies and await for the hot fix which we hope to have by the start of the holidays.”

“And for those with manual updates who have accidentally updated their systems?”

“We recommend they contact their local Droenin store, and they will be able to provide you with a free repair once the hot fix has come available.”

“Now Victor, there’s a growing theory that this bug was actually caused by planned obsolescence to force users to upgrade their systems to the newer model of body parts. Any comments on that?”

“Look, I’d love to discuss conspiracy theory all day, but I’ve got to get back to trying to fix this bug before the world grinds to a halt,” Victor said, slightly agitated, “so please follow our recommendations, and if you are experiencing further issues, please contact your local Droenin store, where they will do anything within their power to lessen the inconveniences this may have caused you.”

The news video ended at around the same time breakfast had been finished. Zach was kind enough to feed Trish’s head, something he was well versed in with how much she loved to stay in bed. “So you see! I’m going to be stuck like this all day!” She huffed, “And you know how much I hate being unable to move anything!”

“Well, I could lend you my extra body,” Zach said.

“But doesn’t the fire department keep a track of the sync logs?”

“I’m sure they would understand, given the circumstances.” Zach stood up, taking the tray back to the kitchen and filling the dishwasher.

Trish contemplated his offer until Zach came back, sitting down in his chair and taking a sip of coffee. “Nah. I don’t think I’m that desperate.”

“Oh c’mon. What’s wrong with it?”

“It’s just so…” Trish tried to put her thoughts into words, “Male.”

“Ha ha. Fair enough,” Zach gave Trish a sip of her coffee, getting a very appreciative look from her.

     “Any other ideas?” Trish asked.

     “Well…” Zach rubbed his chin.

“Ooh! You’ve got something?” Trish lit up, “You’ve actually got something?”

“I was going to save it for Christmas,” Zach grinned, “But… seeing as how you’ve been a really good girl this year.” Zach stood up, walking away from the table and leaving Trish to stew in her excitement.

She knew that Zach had been working extra hours, but had assumed that it was because he was planning on upgrading his mother to bionics (a prospect she realized was going to be even harder to swing, with how techphobic his mother was and this recent incident potentially only aggravating those fears). She wasn’t sure what he was going to bring down, but anything had to be better than be stuck as a head all day.

“Alright… Here it is!” Zach smiled, as he plonked the comparatively large box onto the table in front of her. The box was rather simple in design, each side showing the appropriate view of the object inside, and the Droenin Electronics (a dark green D and ∈ intersecting) logo in the corner.

“Oh my God! Zach!” Trish squealed, “They’re amazing!”

Zach opened the box, pulling out a pristine pair of hips and laying them down on the table in front of Trish. The pair of hips had about two inches of thigh, and ended a few inches blow where the belly button would be if the rest of the torso were attached. Where the rest of the body would be were layers of skin, hiding the advanced robotics that would lock the bionic limbs together.

Zach lifted up Trish’s head, attaching it to the top of the pair of hips, making sure to rotate the head once to engage the locking mechanism, and after a few seconds, Trish was completely synced up.

“Ooh!” Trish moaned, as the syncing process finished and she suddenly gained feeling in her brand new hips. She sat up, surprised with how light her new body was.

“Yep, and it’s the newest self-refreshing model as well,” Zach grinned.

     “You mean?!-“

“Every time feels like the very first time,” Trish now had a grin that almost matched, Zach’s in intensity. With some careful movements she managed to get herself up on her stumps, waddling around the table in a circle.

“Anything else I should know about?”

“Besides the standard advanced birth controls… Why don’t we just take this to the bedroom and I can show you?”

“Hmm…” Trish asked like she was actually thinking about this before jumping excitedly by bracing her hips and flinging her head upwards, “Okay!”

It seemed that Zach’s second, headless body had been busy, moving Trish’s comatose body to the charging station in their closet, and was now waiting naked on the bed, sensually rubbing the spot in front of him on the bed.

Zach placed Trish down on the bed in front of his body, reaching up and detaching his head, handing it to his naked body while his body continued to prepare for the rest of his day.

After a bit of foreplay (which mostly revolved around some intense kissing and cuddling of Trish’s abbreviated, almost stuffed animal-like form), they finally got to it, Zach breaking the seal on Trish’s tight hole.

The sex was amazing, Trish’s small form meant that Zach had to do all the work, and the amazing freshness of her new part meant that the senses she was receiving were ten times as intense.

The icing on top was when that new feature Zach mentioned came into play. About halfway through their encounter, Zach flipped a secret switch, and Trish began to feel a scratchy feeling in the back of her throat. Soon enough, Zach’s penis was beginning to pop out from the back of her mouth, and Trish found herself completely empaled on his member. The experience of that was so exciting that the two of them quickly came, their juices evaporating with thanks to the no-clean fluids their bodies were equipped with.

Zach’s headless body sneaked into the room, his main body and Trish’s having tuckered themselves out and entered a charging state. He plucked his head off, causing it to wake up with a bit of a start before remembering the other things that he had to do that day.

He gave Trish a kiss on the lips before closing the bedroom door.
