She sighed. As much as she would have loved to simply continue with their plan, she knew that if she didn’t act she might not be able to live with herself, knowing she was condemning those Sapphire clones to a life of servitude. She walked away from the door, slowly approaching the fireplace while making sure she angled her body towards the old man. “I’m sorry sir, but we’re still trying to find it,” Heather lied.
“Ah, what a shame,” the executive said. By this point, he had already climbed back into the bed and was snuggling up to the various Sapphires strewn across it, all of the Sapphire trying their best to hide their looks of disgust at the old man. He reached over to one end, grabbing the Sapphire head he had been pleasuring himself earlier with. “Let me ask you Sapphire. Are you curious why I chose you as the test subject to our cloning experiments?”
“No sir,” Heather was hoping that he wouldn’t recognize the occasional glance towards the wood poker sitting right next to the fireplace.
“Well… it goes beyond the fact that you were one of the best secretaries I ever had. No. It’s because you and I. We had a special connection. The moment I first saw you when you were interviewing for the position, I knew that you had to be mine. I had to own more than your heart, I needed to make sure that your mind, body and soul were dedicated solely to me. Then, when we finally found the Eternity Cell, I finally figured out how to get exactly what I wanted.” Heather nodded along with his story, just a couple more step as she would be in arms reach of what she wanted. “Now look at the two of us. You get to go after whatever fantasy you could ever desire, and I finally can have the one thing I’ve always wanted, but could never have,” He gave the Sapphire head an impassioned kiss, leaving Heather an opportunity to strike.
She reached over to the fireplace poker and lunged at the bed, stabbing straight through the elderly man’s chest, right through the heart. The other Sapphires, seeing the danger, jumped off the bed (those who were not able to were assisted as best they could by Sapphires who could help). Surprisingly, there were no screams as Heather removed the steel rod again and again, stabbing the old man throughout his body, drops of red liquid flinging around as the poker dug into man with little resistance. It made sense why it wasn’t come from the quickly dying old gentleman, as his screams were muffled by the head he had been kissing only moments before Heather struck, but as for the Sapphires, Heather couldn’t be sure if it was because they were so shocked they couldn’t react, or that they were relieved to see their tormentor finally get what he deserved. Heather continued striking the old man in danger, before finally stopping, dropping the poker by her side.
She stared at what she had done. While a majority of his body was covered by the red satin sheets (which were turning an even darker shade by the second) the puncture wounds in the sheets made it quite clear that the old man was dead. His grip had long since disappeared on the Sapphire head he was kissing, sending her rolling off the side of the bed to be assisted by another one of the transformed Sapphires (Which was difficult, as she tentacles in stead of arms). His face was permanently frozen in a state of shock, what little color was in it quickly fading away. Heather dropped to her knees, the gravity of the situation finally hitting her.
She looked once more at the man she had just killed and threw up. She wasn’t sure what exactly she was throwing up, since she wasn’t sure if the Sapphire body she had hijacked had even eaten anything all day, but she still threw up nonetheless, soiling the room even more. While her second body, who was only getting a playback of these memories was quick in recovering from what she had just done, her actions were much more punishing on the mind of the body that had actually done it. She sat there on the ground for a while, simply trying to rationalize her actions with the help of her second mind: that what she did was for the greater good, that she had to continue going, if not for herself, than for the girls she had just saved, that the fate of the world rested on her hands. After even more silent contemplation, she shakily stood up, and looked at the group of cowering girls, a look of utter helplessness in their eyes.
She addressed the group, “Okay… Look… I need to meet up back with my friends, but it’s going to be suspicious if I try and help you girls out of this room. So, I’m going to leave, but the second I am done with my friends, I’ll come back and figure out a way to bring you all with me,” Heather was hoping for approving nods, but all she got back were more blank stares. As much as she would have loved to help them all, she had taken a risk by helping them, and it would be even more suspicious if she walked out with all of his toys. Plus, she had to get out of there fast, as her second body had warned her during her moment of looking for forgiveness that she had set the true Sapphire free, and that she was on her way to the administrative building.
She walked out the door, and managed to walk right into the real Sapphire, the mishap sending her tumbling backwards, leaving the door wide open and allowing for the real Sapphire to see her crimes. The real Sapphire screamed, “Oh my God! She killed him!” The secretary Sapphire, not even looking, reached under her desk and pressed a large green button.
Two large metal slabs descended through the doorways, locking Heather and the transformed Sapphires trapped in the room, which would have not been so bad had it not been for the fact that green gas had began to spew out from the air vents in the room. Almost as soon as they inhaled the noxious gas, the shortest among the group of transformees closed their eyes and fell limp. The other Sapphires, noticing this, began to try and get their heads to the highest point of the room that they could, while Heather clawed desperately at the door, trying to get it open. She had to help her friends! Her story couldn’t end here! She had to… She had to…
Heather’s last thoughts out of her second body were the she could vaguely hear the sounds of sirens blaring.
