“Five… Four… Three… Two… One… Go!” Heather counted down before their group of herself, Lindsay, Susan and Echo entered into the unknown labyrinth below. The elderly Sapphire had told them to give her group five minutes before venturing into the underground tunnels in order to make sure that they could try and draw as much attention away from the tunnels as possible. The tunnel they had entered was a rather claustrophobic back entrance only known to those who truly knew the ins and outs of the park’s design. The walls were only about 2 feet apart from one another, meaning that they had to go down it single file, and it didn’t help any that the tunnel heavily sloped downwards, meaning that one errant step could cause them all to tumble downwards.
The group remained mostly silent until the tunnel finally began to level out slightly, the walls also expanding as they traveled further down into the darkness. The darkness to eventually began to become less of a factor, as their eyes adjusted and there was more frequent overhead lighting. The tunnel’s walls similarly began to transition from the seemingly naturally formed stone walls of a cave into clearly man-crafted tunnels supported by wood, and then into metal walls and floors. Eventually, after trekking for what felt like miles, they came across the first crossroads of the tunnels, the paths connecting together in a Y-shaped fashion, and the first point where they were most likely to get caught. Peaking around the corners, the girls were pleasantly surprised to find that neither passage was guarded, just as the elder Sapphire had suspected.
“Okay, Susan and I are going to go find the storage facility Sapphire was talking about, are you sure you don’t want one of us to come with your guys and help?” Echo whispered.
“We’re already going to have to try and hide a group of eight of us. It would only be more difficult if you came along,” Lindsay whispered back, “and besides, you guys are going to have the much more difficult job if what Sapphire said is true and they already have hundreds of clones of us.” She flashed the girl a cheeky smile.
“Okay, best of luck then, hopefully we’ll see you back at the meeting point safe and sound” Echo and Susan began to make their way down the twisting complex of tunnels towards where the rejuvenation pods were held.
Once they two had left and not managed to set off any alarm bells, Lindsay turned to Heather and asked, “How goes getting the location of our bodies from the Executive?”
“Yes sir,” Heather responded, before facepalming herself and saying, “Sorry, I’m still not completely used to controlling these two bodies at the same time. I almost have it, just give me a bit more time.”
“That’s great, but I really need you to hurry it up, because we don’t know how much time we’ll have before this place starts swarming with goons.”
Heather stood still, her eyes closed in concentration on making sure her ongoing conversation with the executive went well. Lindsay nervously played with her arm, removing and inserting it over and over again to pass the time. After what felt like hours, but was only a couple of minutes, Heather opened her eyes, saying, “Okay, I know where we need to go.” The two walked down the hallway that Echo and Susan did not go down.
The walk to where their original bodies were being stored was thankfully mostly uneventful. Only once did they have to duck down a side hall because they heard footsteps coming in their direction. Those footsteps belonged to two more Sapphire body-builders, who were chatting about how it was only a matter of time until the subjects were caught based solely upon the sheer number of bodies they had chasing them. After the guards had left, they continued along the path with only one other notable distraction.
After traveling for a few more minutes, Heather suddenly collapsed to the ground, sobbing. “What’s wrong?” Lindsay asked.
“I-I… I just did something…” Heather managed to choke out in between tears.
“What did you do?” Lindsay asked, genuine concern in her voice.
“I… Oh God.” The two sat there for a good while, before Lindsay managed to coerce Heather to continue walking. Lindsay never did manage to get Heather to tell her what she did with her other body to make her so upset, however the walk was long enough that Heather had composed herself much better by the end of it.
Eventually, they found themselves standing outside of a rather unassuming metal door. The door was unlabelled, and could easily have been mistaken for any other door if not for the words ‘Storage Facility F2’ written on it. “Here we are,” Lindsay said, opening the door a crack, and when no alarms sounded, opened the door the rest of the way.
The insides of the room were rather unremarkable (this will happen when your facility is completely covered in the same uniform metal), however the contents were rather intriguing. Two aisles were created by pretty large metal containers, their sides reading ‘Stasis Pod. Property of Eternity Cosmetics’. Going up to the nearest pod, the girls found a brown haired man that neither of them knew floating naked in clear liquid, an oxygen mask placed over his mouth and nose. “This must be how they store the bodies so that they don’t interact with their clones,” Heather said.
“Yeah, let’s just hope they stored all of our bodies relatively close to one another so we won’t have to examine every pod,” Lindsay said, entering the row on the right with Heather not far behind her.
After several minutes of searching the same aisle, Lindsay shout whispered, “Oh my God! Heather! You have to see this”. Heather walked over, a gasp escaping from her lips at the contents within the pod.
Floating within the stasis pod was the woman who had been tormenting them nearly all day. There were some clear differences, such as the fact that her blue hair was obviously the result of someone dying it blue rather than the almost natural blue hair her clones had, that she was a good couple inches shorter than her clones, that she had a scar on her left arm that was not evident on her clones’ bodies, or that her boobs were much smaller. The serenity plastered across her face as she bobbed slightly up and down within the stasis chamber would make even a sloth envious.
“Do you think…” Heather said, getting up close to the cabinet, examining her body more closely.
“Do I think what?” Lindsay asked, already continuing her search down the rows of unimportant employees for their bodies.
“Do you think… that it would be a good idea to set her free?” Heather questioned.
“Are you crazy!?” Lindsay did her best to not scream at the top of her lungs, rushing back over to Heather so they could continue the conversation in whispers, “she may not be the one controlling all of her clones, but she still does work for this fucking evil company.”
“True… but think about it. Since she worked for the company, she would probably know all of its secrets.”
“Or, she was just some low level employee-“
“I don’t think so. Why would you use some low level employee as the workforce for your entire scam for world domination? Not to mention that story that Sapphire told us. I bet the higher-ups knew exactly who she was, and were probably willing to let some secrets slip around her.”
“But think of it this way: If she was put on ice before she realized how evil this company was-“
“If that were true, we’d really only have to just point out how obviously evil the company is now.”
“But what if she’s in on it and is down for being evil!?!”
“Would an evil person care about someone else being raped?”
“If it were themselves, then yes, I imagine they would. But we don’t exactly have evidence of that fact immediately available, so it would be the word of two random strangers vs the company she works for.”
“But-“
“Look, I’m tired of arguing. If you want to risk the entirety of our plan upon your misguided belief in a person that you technically don’t even know. Be my guest. But don’t come crying to me if your decision to save her comes back to bite us in the rear in the end,” Lindsay said, shrugging and going back to her search for their original bodies.
Heather continued to stare at the face of their tormentor, unsure of what to do.
Make a decision:
1.) Better Safe than Sorry (Leave Sapphire’s original body)
2.) People Deserve Second Chances (Save Sapphire’s original body)
