The Carousel of Change began to slowly, but surely, speed up. Unlike most carousels however, it did not stop at a moderate speed. The Carousel began to spin faster and faster still, the horses and sleds moving eventually reaching such a speed that they were moving at a blur. It got to the point where both Susan and Heather could no longer even see Lindsay and feared that the abbreviated girl could come hurtling off the ride at any moment. The only sign that she was even still on the ride was the fact that her screams were so loud, they probably could be heard around the park.
Just as it seemed that the ride couldn’t spin any faster, it finally began to slow down. Much like the name Carousel of Change suggested, as the shapes of the carousel began to become less blurred, it was clear that something was wrong with the various horses. Almost none of them were completely their original colors (One of the horses colors had changed completely becoming an almost peach color and having lost its plastic sheen). There were ones with extra legs, a couple with extra heads, some of which were copies of their originals while others were clearly stolen from the horses that were missing those limbs.
Of course, the changes to the various fake horses wasn’t the main concern of the combined girl, but rather to see whether or not it had done anything to help Lindsay. Walking over to the sled that they had put her in, the sight they found was quite shocking.
Splayed across the seat was Lindsay, completely whole for once. However her normally peach toned skin was instead a bright red with a plastic sheen. Thankfully though, her blond hair and clothes remained unchanged (although much more filled out since she actually had her limbs back). She sat up, brushing her windswept hair saying, “That was one hell of a ride.”
“Lindsay! Are you okay?!” Susan asked, moving her shared humantaur body over. Heather controlled both of her heads to examine Lindsay from head to toe at every angle, using the sole arm in the center of their shared body to try and help her up.
“How do you feel?” Heather asked from her original head. Lindsay was now shakily standing up.
“I think… for the first time since we got here, I actually feel normal,” Lindsay said. She was patting herself down with her bright red skin.
It almost seemed as if time began to slow to a crawl as it happened. Lindsay had stood up from patting herself down, raised her arms over her head, and both arms plopped to the ground, pegs stuck to the end of her arms and sockets in her shoulders. Rather than hitting the ground with a thud, both arms seemed to bounce off the ground slightly, only emphasizing how much the arms looked to be made of plastic.
All three girls looked down at the offending limbs with a look of disappointment at the fact that Lindsay’s dreams of normalcy were not achieved, but a more pressing matter was at hand. Susan crouched down (something very difficult for a humantaur to do. Essentially to accomplish this feat, Susan had her front legs bend a bit, followed by her back all the way, then her front legs the rest of the way, getting up was essentially the same, but in reverse) and Heather picked up her right arm. Lining up the peg into the proper socket, she stuck it in and…
Success! Life suddenly flowed back into Lindsay’s arm. “Well… This sucks, but I guess it could be worse,” Lindsay said, bending down and picking up her other arm and plugging it into the socket.
“Well, look at it this way, you only have to hold yourself together until we get back to the medical tent,” Susan said, flashing Lindsay a smile.
“Oh come on. You’re not going to ride something?” Lindsay asked, a look of slight disappointment on her face.
“Don’t you think we’re in bad enough shape already?” Heather said, gesturing to her shared body with Susan with her heads.
“Yeah… but look at it this way, at least one of us is more or less normal. So if you two get more messed up, I’ll be able to help you over to the medical tent, or you two might be able to fix yourself up a little bit before we head over.”
Susan and Heather looked at each other for a while, before eventually Heather said, “I’m fine with doing it if you want to.
“Sounds good with me,” Susan said (she would have shrugged her shoulders if Heather didn’t have control of their arms).
The group walked over to Sapphire, who looked up from the control panel (which she had been fiddling with this entire time) and said, “Did you enjoy your ride miss?”
“It was good enough,” Lindsay responded, rubbing her hand over her other arm, the feeling of plastic still something she wasn’t used to, “Do you happen to know any rides that would be large enough for my two friends here? Their itching to ride something before we head back to the medical tent.”
“I think I might know something,” Sapphire said, flashing the girls an innocent smile.
What ride do Heather and Susan go on?
