“Ughh! Stop shaking so much! You know I can’t hang on that well!” Lindsay complained from her perch on Susan/Heather’s back. She was sitting directly behind the pair’s vertical back, holding on to her shoulders with her hands (which were directly affixed to Lindsay’s shoulders)
Heather maneuvered the arm affixed to her bald head behind her back so that she could talk face to face to Lindsay, saying, “Well, maybe if you weren’t so adamant on getting a toy that you weren’t even going to use yourself you would actually have proper arms and be able to hold on. Better yet, you could just walk yourself.”
This shut up Lindsay’s whining for a bit. Heather maneuvered the arm holding her regular arm so that her head was facing towards Susan, “I don’t know why you still hang out with her Susan.”
“Because Heather, like I’ve told you all a thousand times. Lindsay might be slightly more annoying than she used to be, but she’s still our friend, and I’ll support her no matter how she might treat me.”
“Wait, do you really find me annoying?” Lindsay asked, the bravado gone from her voice.
“Um… Yeah, why do you think none of us like hanging out with you,” Heather said from her bald head.
“You guys don’t like hanging out with me?” Lindsay’s voice was wavering.
“Where have you been the past couple of years Lindsay!? Don’t you remember high school? We used to hang out all the time! We’d go out almost every night and watch movies or hang out or get dinner! When we both got accepted to Whale Gulch, you were easily my first choice for my roommate! I was the one who introduced you to everyone! Then, you started hanging out with those rich Beta Iota Eta girls, and suddenly you think you’re better than all of us. Why do you think I moved in Claire?!” Tears were beginning to well up in Heather’s eyes. She really couldn’t believe that the girl who used to be her best friend could really be this oblivious.
Lindsay was shocked, “Susan… is this true?”
“Lindsay, you have-“
“Is it true?”
“Y-yes…”
Lindsay was silent for a long time, before she spoke again, starting softly but slowly getting more and more emotional “I don’t think I’m better than you two. I don’t think I’m better than anyone in the group. Why do you think I even joined that sorority? I joined it because they said they could make me stronger. That by bottling my emotions behind a hard shell and money, I could become the strongest of my friends. For Pete’s sake I’m a junior in college and I still don’t know what I want to do with my life!” despite Lindsay’s best efforts the tears started flowing.
The hybrid girl was silent for a long while, before Heather swapped positions of her heads, and out of her original head, said, “Lindsay, I forgive you.”
Eventually, the group ended up in the kids ride section. All three of them were still slightly haggard from their earlier conversation, but knew that it was a conversation that was a long time coming.
“Hello girls! Oh dear! Is everything all right?” Sapphire said, noticing the somber tone the group of girls emanated.
“I think things are finally right for the first time in a long time,” Susan quipped, causing a glance of compassion to pass between Lindsay and Heather, “Anyway, how was your meeting?”
“It was okay, I’m good to help you out at the medical tent right now if you all want.”
The girls looked at each other, Lindsay saying, “We’re already all the way out here, we might as well go on a couple of rides.”
“Speaking of which. Sapphire, do you know any rides that Lindsay could go on, we realize she’s a little short right now,” Heather said.
“Well… I think the only ride she’s currently tall enough to ride would be the Carousel of Change. Of course, she would probably have to ride in one of the sleds rather than on the horses…”
“That’s fine, literally anything would probably be better than this body,” Lindsay said.
The group approached the Carousel of Change. It looked like your typical Carousel, with a variety of different colored horses (including some outrageous colors, like pink and green horses) and a couple of sleds as well (for those who would have trouble riding the horses). Placing Lindsay in one of the sleds (the most noticeable facet of its appearance was that it was painted red), Heather/Susan walked off the ride (their body was too large to sit in one of the sleds, and there was no way they could ride on one of the horses). “Okay, let’s get this ride rolling!” Sapphire said, pressing a button and starting the ride.
What does the ride do to Lindsay?
1.) The springs are gone, her extremities are now fixed to her body.
2.) Lindsay’s arms and legs return, but her hands and feet go missing.
3.) Turns Lindsay back to normal?
