“Pay for what? You didn’t even serve us anything!” Veronica said, struggling to get up from her chair. Once she was up, she stood imposingly over the overweight ghost and Scarlett.
The ghost mumbled something into Scarlett’s ear, which she then looked up to Veronica and said, “Do you know who this is? This is former master chef Gordon Mercurin! He used to rent out this room for dinner parties all the time! Not to mention usage of his specially tempered cutlery and the fortune cookies he had to make. Y’all should be thankful he’s giving you the group discount!”
“Well… Fine, how much does he want?” Susan said, awkwardly bending backwards to try and reach her back pants pocket, which were now much lower and difficult to get to thanks to the addition of Susan’s torso on her body.
“So… you’ll be paying the bill then?” Scarlett asked in a clarifying manner.
“Yeah,” Veronica said, having successfully grabbed her wallet and now stretched back up to her full height, “I left my cash at home, so do you take Visa?”
“Oh, I think you’re mistaken in how you’ll be paying…” Scarlett grinned.

As if finally released from some invisible chain, the large, obese ghost jumped into the air, it’s jaw practically unhinging. In one moment, the apparition managed to wrap its mouth completely around Veronica’s head, and in the next he was falling back to the floor, Veronica’s neck now dripping the same dark blue goo that the group had come to fear. Several screams echoed around the room as Veronica’s body fell to the floor.
Heather, who by this point had become numb to the macabre transformations of the house, noticed that the skin on the ghost’s thumb-like head was bubbling, the fat disappearing from his neck and face as the very bone structure appeared to change, becoming more feminine. The ghost’s white hair began to lengthen and tie itself into a ponytail…

After several more minutes of transformation, the ghost’s fat head had transformed completely into that of Veronica’s, with some noticeable differences. Firstly, the head still had the light blue, semi-see-through look of the other ghost’s they had seen that night, her eyes equally dead. And Secondly, where the obese ghost’s body met their friends head had a line of dark blue goo that practically looked like a necklace. After several jaw movements, the former head of their shared friend began to speak. “Hey guys!
“V-Veronica?” Spencer asked, his voice quivering.
“Yep! Well, my head anyways, but that just semantics, Spence,” Veronica said, “As soon as this creep ate my head off, I lost feeling in my body! But that’s okay, because I’ve realized something about this house…”
“What did you find out,” Heather asked, interested in seeing if their friend had discovered a way out.
“I found out … that we might as well submit and give up our bodies to the house.” The mood in the room dropped from a hopeful despair to stunned silence. “I mean, the house won’t let us leave, there’s no exit anyway. Besides there’s nothing out there for us anyway.”
“Wha-What do you mean?” Echo said, her voice trembling as she feared the answer.
“Well I mean we’re all dead anyway.”

“Okay, now I know this has to be that ghost fucking with us. We can’t be dead!” Lindsey said, her bravado hiding a strong insecurity, “I mean we would know…”
“Oh please, we didn’t even know we’ve been in the house for eleven days now. Don’t believe me Lindonna?” Veronica’s head said, addressing Lindsey by the nickname they had created as kids, “Just check your phone.”
Those with hands in the group quickly pulled out their phones, confirming that 11 days had definitely passed since they had first entered the house. “B-but that’s impossible! We would all have died from hydration by now!” Lindsey said, the double dose of confirmation destroying her bravado.
“*pssh*We’ve survived our bodies literally being mutilated beyond recognition at this point and you're more confused how we haven’t noticed that 11 days seemed to have gone by in a couple of hours,” Veronica sassed, rolling her eyes,”Besides guys, it’s really great! I feel so much energy coursing through me!” Veronica’s ghost form suddenly began to rise into the air.
“Plus look! Your body becomes so malleable!” Veronica reached up, grabbing her head and pulling it off, revealing her neck stump complete with wind pipe and spine. Rubbing her free hand on the wound, and coming off with dark blue goo. Grabbing the arm which was still holding her head, she pulled the arm clean off, attaching the arm to her neck stump. “Not to mention, it feel wonderful!” The bulge in her old-timey pants seemed to corroborate her story.

Suddenly, Veronica’s body began to move,  awkwardly attempting to stand up. “Veronica!” Spencer shouted, rushing to her side to help her up. Lindsey/Heather ran to help as best she could while Susan walked around the table and lifted the remains of Echo into her four arms.
“Oh come on Spencer! Why would you want to that body when we could literally have any body we want in this house?” Veronica said, clearly hurt at Spencer’s outburst. “I know! I can just incorporate you myself!” Veronica reached up with her hand towards her jaw, managing to unhook it somehow and make her mouth wider, similar to what the previous form had done.
“Run!” Heather commanded, the group quickly running out of the room as Veronica approached, Spencer only just managing to pull Veronica’s body out as the ghost of Veronica slammed into the door, trapped in the room that took her head.

“Scarlett? Could you take us somewhere with more history about this house?” Heather asked, more determine than ever to solve the mystery of the house.
“Ooh! History? I know just the place!” Scarlett said, raising her flag once more.
