“What do you mean stay as my body?” Bernice’s original head asked her new twin.
“Well … Nate’s machine is going to reconnect our head and body, and he wants to blend our consciousnesses together. But I brought up the idea to keep our head detachable, so when you’re on me you’ll have complete control, but otherwise we can keep our own identities.”
“I don’t think Bernice will be into -“ Nate was interrupted by Bernice’s cheer of, “That sounds like a wonderful idea.”
“Great, I’ll get the robots to reprogram the machine then.” Nate announced, typing in commands on his cellphone. “Now, to get you into your temporary homes.”
Two humanoid robots entered the room, wheeling in a large tubular machine, and a lifeless Nate body double. It was only now that Bernice realized how similar Nate and herself looked, they could probably pass as twins.
Taking a small pen out of his lab coat, he slice through the neck of his body double, leaving him similar to how Bernice previously looked. “Now,” he said mischievously, attaching one end of the hose to Bernice’s body’s head and his clone’s, “Let’s switch things up.”
Nate’s clone’s eyes opened as her body’s closed.
