The landscape extended endlessly underneath her. She was approaching the ground at a pretty decent rate. Bernice’s ‘deja vu’ senses were going off.
‘This is a dream!’ she realized. She had had the falling dream many times before, but this one was very different from her others.
For starters, her body was completely missing. This wouldn’t be disconcerting, but it was worrying now because she was afraid her future dreams would feature her headless thanks to her condition in the real world. The other thing was that the ground was approaching at a much greater rate than typical.
‘Oh no! I’m going to hit the ground!’ Bernice thought. As she approached the ground faster and faster, her concentration increased on trying to control her dream and protect herself from dying.
Bernice let out a scream, her efforts were having no effect.
The ground was getting closer and closer.
“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH-“ Her scream was cut off as she realized that her head had stopped moving. The sensation of floating was very odd, but otherwise, she was just thankful that she hadn’t -
*THUNK* Bernice’s head hit the floor against the bottom of the bag, knocking her unconscious for the second time that day.
