"Behold! I am the genie of the cards!" The miniature purple man exclaimed, throwing his arms wide.

"The what now?"

"I am the genie of the cards. You opened my box, so you get some wishes! Anyone who plays my game gets wishes."

"And the catch?" By now, the other two tables had stopped setting up their games and were watching ours. It wasn't every day a genie showed up at board game club after all.

"The person making the wish doesn't get to choose what they wish for." The genie explained. "Instead, the other players give them options, and they must choose from those. Once everybody has made three wishes, the game is over, and everybody can choose whether to keep theirs for a month, a week, a day, or an hour."

"So basically cards against humanity, but wishes."

"Exactly," the little genie said with a smile, "now who wants to make the first wish?"

"I guess I will," I said. This certainly sounded like an interesting game.

I pulled a 'wish' card off the deck as the others drew hands. "I wish I had a really long blank," I read aloud. A couple people snickered. They needed to get their minds out of the gutter. There were so many other ways that could go. I could wish for a really long car and get a limo. Now that would be cool.

The cards rolled in, five in total. By now the rest of the club had abandoned their games in favor of watching ours. Magic like this wasn't unheard of, but it was certainly rare.

Once the last card was laid on the table I puck them all up. They were nothing short of very weird. A really long girlfriend? A really long tongue? A really long - nope, not that one. It wasn't very hard to decide. I would much rather have a really long book than any of these other things. Still, I read them out for comedic effect. That was what you were supposed to do in these games.

"Some of these are just weird guys, I mean, I wish I had a really long tongue?" I said, placing the card on the table.

That got a few good laughs, but then the genie said, "Your wish is my command, one really long tongue coming up!"

"Wait no! That's not what I meabblt!" My words failed as my tongue stretched out, rolling out of my mouth and flopping down nearly a foot in one long slimy tentacle. This produced even more laughter.

I crossed my arms, "Thiths gam ith thtoopit." This nigh-unintelligible utterance only made them laugh harder. Fortunately, the next guy was forced into wishing he was a girl, and the next became a toothpick. My fate was far from the worst that happened that night.
