This is a poem I wrote for a project in my language arts class. I thought it was so good that I wanted to share it here. Sorry, no TF.
It's a labyrinthine sentence poem, which are poems that contain one really long grammatically correct sentence. The subject is Coney Island, specifically Dreamland, an amusement park that operated from 1904 to 1911. The poem focuses on Dreamland Tower, the centerpiece of the park.
A Tower of Light
On crisp nights so astoundingly dark with no moon to illuminate the great circus-park, Dreamland needs no candle or flame to push back the black because within those gates is a tower of light so brilliant and bright that the demons of night flee before its magnificent sight of bulbs by the thousands high in the sky glimmering like a thousand tiny fireflies, and that light in the night can be seen as far as can be even from beyond the shore and beyond the sea, such is the power of electricity.
