I'm submitting an Oktoberfest-themed drawing to a Halloween contest because I like to live on the edge. <br /><br /><br />But yeah, here's a Filipino-German manananggal serving drinks at an Oktoberfest celebration. An Oktoberfest celebration that is taking place outdoors somewhere in the Alps, because I couldn&#8217;t figure out how I would want to draw the inside of a beer tent, or a sprawling fun-fair. <br /><br />If you don&#8217;t know what a manananggal is, they&#8217;re basically like vampires of Philippine mythology, with bat wings and blood-sucking and everything. But what makes them special is their ability to divide themselves at the waist, which is pretty neat. It's a creature I've been intending to draw for a while, because they're cool, and the world needs more cute ones. Some like to pronounce it &#8220;mah-nah-nahng-goll&#8221;, but I like to think it&#8217;s pronounced &#8220;ma-na-nang-gal&#8221;, because then it fits even more nicely into the Batman theme tune. Also, the fact that their name ends in "gal" is absolutely great.&nbsp;<br /><br />A special thanks goes to Bob Ross and the person who uploaded the entirety of Bob Ross&#8217; TV series &#8220;The joy of painting&#8221; on YouTube. Without you, I would not have known how to make the mountains in the background as happy as they are.
