There was an urban legend about the Old Mill pumpkin patch. They say a monster with the head of a pumpkin stalks the fields every Halloween and girls have gone missing over the years.

Charlotte didn't believe these rumors. Her boyfriend and his buddies had staked out the place a couple of Halloweens and never found anything but regular pumpkins and the occasional raccoon. No one was reported missing last year. Surely someone just saw a mean jack-o-lantern one time and got spooked.

She went out drinking with her gal pals and they talked about the legend. One thing led to another and before she knew it, she and Beth were dared by their friends to go to the pumpkin patch alone. One Ubar ride later, they found themselves at the patch. There were still a few pumpkins left. Charlotte took out her phone so she could see in front of her and the two got to work. They were to make it to the other side of the field by themselves. It was certainly spookier at night.

What the girls didn't know was that the Dread Pumpkin chooses his targets well. He has no interest in men and won't take more women than he needs. When a large group comes through his field, he simply turns into a normal pumpkin and waits for them to pass, he can only catch so many at once. He smiled with wicked glee as he spied his two new brides strolling through his hunting grounds. It was time to welcome them.

Happy Halloween everybody. At the last minute, I got the idea for a pumpkin monster and scrambled to get it ready in time. I had an idea for a follow-up picture on the day after, but I ran out of time. We will see if I can get it done but don't count on it.
