By default they resemble a wooden or metal storage chest at least two feet wide. They vary as to what type of wood and metal they appear to be made out of. The inside has sharp teeth and flesh like walls. They posses a long tongue for swallowing prey. Sometimes they will sprout spider like legs or tentacles from the bottom of the chest.

General description

An evolved version of mimics. Like most mimics they can hibernation in the image of storage chests as they wait for pray. However they are smarter and more active then their cousins. Sometimes they will seek out pray rather then simply wait for them.

They swallow their pray whole with their wide mouths, and place them into a deep sleep with in a pocket dimension that makes up their stomach. They can then shape-shift into any of the victims stored with in them. While in human form they are able to expand their mouths to swallow more victims. Should they swallow a live spell weaver they would also be able to use the spells they could use, at least temporarily.

If they regurgitate a recently consumed victim they will lose the ability to transform into them. However after five or six days they permanently gain the ability to turn into them. They can also gain the form by drinking several ounces of blood, however this method does not allow them to mimic their clothes.

They have gotten the name lure mimics due to their strategy of transforming into lost children or attractive women to lure victims away and lower their guard.

Domestication of lure mimics is far harder then most other species of mimic due to their higher intelligence and tenancy to wonder around. However with a lot of work they can be tamed and modified to hold their pray rather then digest them.
