My cousin Terri talked me into going to a Halloween party. She was going to come pick me up for it. There was to be a costume contest with the winner receiving a $1,000 prize. For weeks, I thought about what costume I would wear, and came up with an idea that I was sure would win. I wore a white dress that looked like it came right out of the 18th century, and a bit of white makeup to give myself a ghostly appearance, but the costume needed one more final touch. I sat in front of my dresser, and grabbed a very large knife and placed it on my neck, but I hesitated for moment. I had had my head cut off by someone else before, but I had never done it to myself.
"Come on, Carlie. You can do this. If you can cut your own feet off, then surely you can cut your head off." I thought to myself.
I finally worked up the nerve and started cutting into my neck. I felt a little pain as the knife sliced into my neck.
I stopped long enough to look in the mirror and make sure it was working. It was. There was no blood at all.
"Come on, Carlie, you need to stop doubting yourself." I thought to myself.
The pain got better the deeper I cut into my neck. I met some resistance, and knew that I had reached my spine. I finished cutting through my neck, and with me left hand holding my head in place, I carefully set the knife down with my right hand.
With a hand on each side of my head, I carefully lifted my head off of my neck and set it on a silver tray on my dresser, but facing the mirror so that I could still see myself.
"It worked!" I said to myself.
I looked and saw that a thin layer of skin now covered the cut.
"Oh no, this will never do. This has to look real." I said to myself.
Thankfully, I had been watching makeup tutorials on the internet, and got to work. I applied fake blood to my neck stump, and was able to give it a 3D effect. I even made it look like you could see my spine.
I had just finished when the doorbell rang. I picked up the tray with my head on it, and went to answered the door. Terri was standing there dressed as a sexy nurse.
"Wow, Carlie, your costume looks very realistic. Who are you supposed to be?" She asked.
"Marie Antoinette's ghost." I replied.
We drove to the party, or rather Terri did the driving since it was kinda hard for me to see the road with my head in my lap.
We had a great time at the party. I got a lot of nice compliments on my costume, but I found that it was hard to drink the punch with my head detached.
Finally they got to the part where the announced the winner, and it was me!
As we pulled into my driveway, Terri said, "You know, I'm not surprised that you won. I mean, it looks like your head has really been chopped off."
I just laughed. There's no way I was gonna tell her that I really did cut my head off.
After I got inside, and Terri drove away, I went in the bathroom and washed my makeup off. I then picked up my head and successfully reatached it. I went to bed that night $1,000 richer.
The end.
