The disembodied detached foot that Lenny found days ago was now a silent companion that accompanied him everywhere he went. When going to work, he would keep it--which he named Amora--in his satchel, taking her out in periods of downtime to rub her soft soles as a form of relaxation. The spent time with Amora was even making his dog Rufus jealous.

On the way back home, the walk was an opportunity for Lenny to think about his next steps. There was a lingering thought that perhaps he should attempt to identify the previous owner of his disembodied confidant. He just couldn't shake the desire to put a face to the body it once belonged to. Lenny chalked it up to guilt, wondering if indeed some girl hopping around on one foot searched high and low for the missing limb. He had to continually remind himself that the note clearly stated it was left behind willingly.

Then, just a few feet away from him, he saw a disembodied head of an unknown woman. His heart leapt. The chances that the head was related to the foot would sound impossible, but the tanned skin looked too close to think otherwise. Lenny lowered himself, half kneeling on the cold concrete sidewalk. His fingers hovered over the detached head. Gingerly, he picked her up, careful to not drop the surprisingly hefty cranium.

Her delicate features were frozen in a serene expression, as if caught in a moment of eternal slumber, with soft lips that were begging to be worshiped. Lenny asked himself just how controversial it would be if he took it home with him. This wasn't a simple foot this time around, and it carried more ethical weight. The debate lead him to believe that if the head were discarded in the manner he found it, then it was justified.

The detached head was placed inside his bag, and the typical ten minute trip back home was done in a mere five. Rufus barked when Lenny entered. His time spent alone with only a squeaky toy always made him starved for attention, but as much as he wanted to do more than just pet him, he was too excited by his latest find to allow any further delay. Lenny closed the door and turned to his bed, getting hit with déjà vu. The mysterious head was lifted from the brown leather satchel. Her long black hair flowed through his fingers.

He admired everything about it. There wasn't a single flaw he could find. Who ever she was, or used to be, either somehow nabbed something prettier or forced to part ways with it. Who could possibly be crazy enough to get rid of such an amazing visage? Lenny's thumb grazed the cheek, feeling her warmth. Ideas spun in his head like a top. If he was any more impulsive, he would have acted on them, but he knew better than to immediately move up the bases without first becoming acquainted.

Instead, Lenny sat her head on his nightstand like a peculiar decoration. He wanted to make his intentions clear. He snapped a photo and began crafting a post on the city's social media page. He typed, "I found this laying on the sidewalk on Florida Rd.. I would hate to keep it if someone is looking for her, else, I will gladly take care of it like my own.".

It was a long-shot, but one he hoped would work.

Lenny's phone chimed a few minutes later, breaking him from his daydreaming. The screen flicked on. A notification about a comment on his post. After hurriedly unlocking the device and scrolling though the long list of apps, the post was opened.

"Did you find it by the cross road of Georgia and Florida? Yes, that would be my old head. Keep her safe. ; - )."

He was lost for words. He had found her, and the confirmation made his heart beat out of his chest. Looking back at the beautiful head that adorned his nightstand, he smiled brightly. "Welcome home, Amora."
