"And just like that the season is over. The new Disney park has been a huge success, both in amount of visitors as well in profits. And I dare say, but obviously I'm not totally objective, that the mermaid story was a big reason for the success.
My guess is that the mystery of how we looked so realistic day in day out added to our popularity. We are not actors who pull on a tail in the morning and go back home at night. We're in it 24/7 for nine months in a row. And some of us have decided to add another year without changing back to our human lives. Apart from Ursula and myself four more mermaids decided to take the three months of vacation and then go back for another season. Most of my sisters will be back actually but they will spend the three month break with their families, their friends, getting their legs back in working order.
Two seasons in a row is the maximum we're allowed as a mermaid. After that our legs would likely die off and we would neither be able to walk again, nor control our mermaid tails. Obviously that doesn't count for Ursula. Her tentacles are permanent, most of her legs was lost already in an accident anyway.
It doesn't count for me either. One week into the break I will undergo a live changing surgery. My legs will be removed and a permanent tail will be attached to my spine. At the same time the last of my manhood will be removed and my new tail will have female organs. I remember being Joe nine months ago but I identify as Marilyn now and soon I will be married with Ursula and we will start our own family.
Yes, Ursula is pregnant and she should give birth to our daughter before the new season starts. I remember how easy it went, shortly after we declared our love for each other. Kaz, our "mad" scientist and our best friend, created a special tentacle for me that I pulled on as a glove, then proceeded to get her pregnant with my own sperm from when I was still Joe."
These were the words Marilyn had written in her diary, something she had started shortly after she accepted the mermaid job, in order to keep herself sane. Since she started she has embraced her new life, for a big part thanks to her lover Ursula, up to the point where she decided to make a life with Ursula, giving up her manhood and her human form.
Right now she was in a truck, in what could only be described as an aquarium, together with Ursula and her best friend Sirena, on their way to their vacation destination. She knew their was a second truck, carrying the three other mermaids. There was enough water to swim around a bit but not so much that they could make speed or jump the surface. It would be too heavy. But it still beat sitting on the back seat for five hours.
When they finally reached it was an unpopulated area in South Florida. Kaz had designed a carrier from a tarp holding a bit of water to prevent them from drying out in the heat. It was attached to a sort of zip-line and took them in no time from the higher road down to sea level where there was a private bay with white beaches. The bay seemed completely separated from the ocean by a stretch of natural rock formations with, as they soon learned an underwater opening perhaps ten feet wide. There was a fancy wired gate closing the gap, not so much to keep the mermaids in but to keep sharks and other dangerous animals out.
There was a beautiful mansion next to the bay with pools that connected to the water so they could swim in and out. Further down an access road was a bigger building, where they were developing bionic legs. As Kaz had explained, Disney had invested heavily in technology to make people walk again using very real looking artificial legs, controlled straight by the brain.
As a matter of fact, the mansion was Kaz's original lab before Disney recruited him and this would be the place where Marilyn would get her new tail. But first vacation.
The six of them had much to check out. There were the pools in the mansion and a waterway to the lab plus a number of underwater caves to explore. Some caves were modernized and contained sleeping pods and recharging stations and of course air lines.
The rocks were smooth and comfortable to lay in the sun and literally recharge. So was the beach, but the stretch of shallow water was uncomfortable to swim through, especially with the up and down tail motion the mermaids use to swim. The bay was surprisingly deep, allowing to build speed and clear the surface while jumping out. There was a volleyball net in the water and soon the girls were playing a game of waterball.
Marilyn teamed up with Ursula, of course, and Sirena. Ursula couldn't move fast like the mermaids, pregnant as she was, but her reach was amazing thanks to eight foot tentacles. And Marilyn jumped higher than any other mermaid which was an asset on both offense and defense. All in all good fun and before they knew it dinner was served in the largest cave.
After dinner Marilyn and Ursula went to visit Kaz in his lab. Just like home Kaz had part of the lab in the water, so Marilyn could participate in design and experiments. The first thing they noticed however was that Kaz was not alone. Please meet my wife, he said, Sasha, but she goes by Sas. This is Ursula and that is Marilyn.
Marilyn laughed softly, you're joking right? Kaz and Sas? And since when did you get married?
It was Sasha who answered. We've been married for thirteen years. Kaz has always been fascinated by creating a mermaid, but I like to get people back on their legs rather than with a tail. I run the bionic research facility where we specialize in brain controlled artificial legs. Some of the work that Kaz and I worked on is inside you, and she nodded at Ursula, and some new techniques in your new tail, and she smiled at Marilyn.
Ursula and Marilyn, still stunned by the fact that their Kaz was married, looked in the direction that Sas had pointed. There was the tail, in the same color as her current, sleek but quite a bit longer, maybe because of the beautiful fluke at the end. Kaz explained that without the legs and with the extra length there was room for extra organs. One was his latest invention and it would extract oxygen from the water and filling the organic tank which would regulate the airflow to the lungs. The other was invented by Sas and it would generate electricity from the tail movements, enough to charge the battery that powered all bluetooth devices and the oxygen organ. There were no servo's anymore to move the tailfin, that was all moved by powerful artificial muscles. All together, Marilyn should not have a need for airlines or charging wires, she could stay underwater indefinitely.
They would also reconstruct his male parts that were still there into a functional vagina and if she wanted there was room for an actual womb. Not that she would have any ovaries but through a fairly simple procedure an embryo could be implanted and grow in the womb for a "normal" pregnancy. The embryo would be the product of Ursula and whatever was left of Joe and thus a one hundred percent sibling to whatever was growing now inside Ursula's womb. Assuming that Marilyn was interested in giving birth obviously.
The surgery was planned exactly a week from now but they needed to know by the next day in order to prep. Marilyn was quite overwhelmed and Ursula hugged her close with two of her tentacles. They would sleep on it and let them know tomorrow.
The rest of the evening was pleasant with some good stories on Kaz shared by Sasha. They hadn't seen each other for months but still gave the two girls all their time to get acclimated. It was a true vacation for the other mermaids but Marilyn would need all that time to recover and then the birth of their child was planned. They had a specialist in underwater births available by that time who was a personal friend of Kaz and Sas. And as a surprise they showed the nursery they were preparing and the blueprints for either a merbaby or octobaby, again depending on what the new parents decided.
That night they made the decision that the first child would get a tail and the second tentacles. And Marilyn would do indeed do the pregnancy for that second child. Once these decisions were made they could finally relax.
