"Don't you think you're getting too old to play with dolls?"
If Sierra had dared to move, she would have nodded her agreement to try to get the girl standing over her to move on, but she was doing her best to stay perfectly still. It became much harder as the girl picked her up, looking her over. Sierra was actually glad for the pacifier gag that had been zapped into her mouth, since it kept her from making any noise that would give her away.
"But she's so cute!" the girl protested. "And she looks so real! I don't want to play with her, I just want to look at her! Pleeease?"
"All right, all right," the mother shook her head. "If you really want it so much, let's see if we can find the box it goes in."
It was all Sierra could do not to start squirming in the girl's hand to try to get away as the mother grumbled, "I don't know why these workers let this place get to be such a mess. Isn't there another one still in its box?"
"No, she's the only one I see!" the girl replied. "She's special!" Sierra fought to remain still as the girl continued to examine her, her cheeks turning bright red as the short, frilly skirt that had been put on her was lifted up, revealing the diaper underneath. The girl giggled, making Sierra wonder if she'd seen her reaction, or just found her attire that funny.
"Here, I think this is it," the mother finally said, pulling up an open doll box. Sierra blushed again, seeing that the box was, indeed, meant for her. There was a picture of herself printed on the inside of the box, open wires positioned at the waist, ankles, and wrists of the picture. The girl grabbed the box, dumping Sierra inside and closing the top before dropping the box into the mother's shopping cart. Sierra's fall was cushioned by a small collection of extra diapers on the bottom of the box, though luckily the girl hadn't let the box fall all the far anyway.
A moment later, as Sierra laid there, heart pounding as she tried to think of how she was going to get out of this, she heard the girl say, "Oh, I think this is her's, too! Can I get it?"
"Why not?" the mother sighed, and a moment later, Sierra saw, through the plastic on the front of her box, her own wand being set down. It was just as tall as she was now, if not taller! She groaned into the pacifier, only for the bulb to open up and begin depositing a load of mushy baby food into her mouth, forcing her to swallow it helplessly as she was taken up to the cash register.
How could this be happening to her?! It had probably been silly of her to transform into her younger self so she could bring her wand with her to go shopping, but if she'd learned anything, it was that it was better to be safe than sorry. She hadn't been in this world long, and she didn't know what threats were there, so she thought it would be best to be ready to use her magic at a moment's notice. So maybe the real lesson was not to carry her wand where it could be easily seen. She probably should have stayed away from the toy aisle as well, but she couldn't resist. Some of them were just so cute!
Unfortunately, as she'd been standing there, some little girl, who had apparently wandered off from her parents, had spotted her, and the wand sticking out from the back pocket of the outfit she'd conjured up to replace the silly outfit she usually transformed into. Before Sierra had even noticed her, she had grabbed the wand, and when Sierra spun around as she felt it being taken, the kid was already playing with it.
"I like this!" the girl had giggled. "Where'd you get it?"
"Give it back!" Sierra had insisted. "It's mine!"
"No, I want it!" the girl had pouted.
"It's miiine!" Sierra had whined, stomping her foot before realizing she was bigger than the girl, and knew what she was doing, so she could just take it back.
Unfortunately, when she advanced on the girl, she had swung the wand wildly, probably not even thinking about it. A bolt of magic shot out, hitting Sierra in the chest and making her stumble backwards into the shelf of toys behind her, knocking them to the floor around her as she started growing smaller and smaller, her clothes transforming on her. She tried to tell the girl to drop the wand again, only to find a pacifier gag appearing in her mouth, silencing her.
The little girl had dropped the wand anyway, clearly not expecting what had happened, and ran away. Before Sierra could try to pick up her now huge wand and try to figure out what to do, she'd had to freeze as someone else made their way into the aisle, this time an older girl, maybe twelve or thirteen, the age Sierra physically was now. And, true to Sierra's luck, that girl had spotted her right away.
That was how Sierra found herself sliding down the conveyor belt at the store, being forced to swallow mouthful after mouthful of tasteless, gooey baby food, not daring to move and let anyone realize the truth. As her box was picked up and scanned, she hoped the price would wind up being too high, but instead, the woman running the checkout just lifted her up and looked at her, shaking the box a little.
"I might have to get one of these for my little girl!" she said. "I've never seen these before!"
Then Sierra was slipped into a bag, and carried away, to the family's car, and on a long, bumpy ride to their house. She tried to unfasten the lid of the box, or punch a hole through the plastic window on the front, but her tiny frame was too weak for either of those things, and she was still safely in her box when her bag got unloaded from the car. At least the pacifier had gone back to normal by then, after following up the baby food with a short flood of apple juice.
"I have the perfect thing," the mother commented, as the girl eagerly pulled Sierra's box out of the bag. In a few moments, the mother returned, handing over a doll stand to the girl. "If you just want to look at her, you can use this to display her however you want!"
The top of the box was opened, and the girl pulled Sierra out, looking at her and smiling in a way that almost made Sierra wonder if she knew the truth. Even if she didn't, at least they weren't in public anymore. There were a lot less people around to freak out by having a "doll" suddenly start moving. She still didn't want to risk causing a panic, but if it was just this girl, and maybe her mother, then perhaps people would just assume they were crazy.
Before she could consider how best to do this, she had been stood up next to the doll stand. At first, she didn't think it was so bad, until the girl pinched the arms that went around her waist closed. It wasn't so tight that she couldn't breathe, but it insured she couldn't easily get away, and as if to make doubly sure, the girl followed it up by clipping shut two more sets of posing arms around Sierra's legs, holding her firmly in place.
Sierra watched helplessly as the girl dumped out the rest of the box's contents. She giggled when she saw the diapers. "So you really are a baby doll," she said quietly, although it was obvious she was thrilled at this development. "Do you use these? That's so cute! Mom doesn't think I should play with dolls anymore, and I bet she'd think baby dolls are even worse, but it can be our little secret." She hid the diapers, then, with a pair of scissors, went to work on the front of the box, cutting out the spot where Sierra's doll name was printed, gluing it to the front of the display. "Perfect!"
"That looks very nice," the mother agreed, lifting a display dome and dropping it down over top of the doll stand. "Now, why don't you go find a nice spot on your shelf to display her?"
"Okay!" the girl grabbed up Sierra, along with the bag that contained the wand, and the extra diapers she'd hidden, and rushed off down the hall to her room. She quickly cleared off one of her shelves and set Sierra down on it, laying the wand down behind her. "Perfect!" she declared with a grin, which quickly turned into a frown. After a moment, she lifted the dome, and Sierra wondered if she'd failed, and somehow wound up moving despite herself.
If she had, the girl didn't care. Instead, she grabbed the skirt around Sierra's waist and undid the velcro holding it on, pulling it away and leaving Sierra's diaper fully exposed. "There, that's much cuter! I know I'm not supposed to play with you, but you're just too cute! I don't know if I'm going to be able to resist!" she gushed, putting the dome back in place.
Fortunately, a few minutes later, the girl was called away to dinner. As if on cue, the pacifier came to life again, feeding Sierra, even though her tummy and bladder were already feeling overly full from her last little snack. Frantically, she reached for the arms around her waist, trying to pry them open, straining with all her tiny, shrunken might.
They didn't budge, but something else began to move from all that straining. She gasped behind the paci as she felt a messy spot begin to form in her diaper, fighting to make it stop. She couldn't even press her legs together, though, because the restraints around them were too tight, and too strong! She whimpered and blushed as her bladder began to let go as well, letting go of one of the arms to reach out and tentatively feel the front of her diaper, hardly able to believe it.
How long was it going to take the girl to notice what she'd done? She certainly hadn't seemed to mind the idea of her doll using its diapers, but if she had homework, or other things to do, she might not even pay enough attention to Sierra that night to notice! Sierra's blush deepened at the thought of being changed by this girl, like a doll, and wondered again if this was the right time to reveal the fact that she wasn't a doll at all, and just hope the girl and her mother didn't turn her over to some laboratory or the government or something.
Or did the girl already know? She'd handled Sierra quite a bit, had she really believed that she felt like a doll? Did she know the truth? Or, if she didn't already, would finding it out encourage her to help make things right, or just make her more excited to play with her new baby doll?
