Matti paused, smiling softly as she slowed her pace, looking at the sight that was starting to be familiar since she'd started her new job, though not enough that the charm had totally worn off yet.
One of the women smiled back at her, giving her a little wave and encouraging the small boy with her to do the same. Matti returned it, though she couldn't help blushing, wondering if the mother, or nanny, or older sister, or whoever, would be quite as happy about her gawking if she knew the truth.
Probably, she thought Matti liked looking after kids, or found them cute in their little uniforms, or, if Matti was lucky and the woman thought she was somewhere close to her actual age, which was rare, she might think that Matti had a touch of the baby fever. Nothing could be further from the truth. Matti had no interest in having kids of her own, or of being around anyone else's.
No, the reason she was staring, watching as the kindergartners were picked up from their school, was because there was a part of her that wished she was one of them. She was closer than she had been in years, thanks to the Pull-Up under her jeans, and the Velcro sneakers on her feet, and the fact that she'd been given no choice in the matter as to whether she'd be wearing either, but there was something relaxing about the idea of getting to spend an afternoon doing arts and crafts, and being told stories, and taking naps.
Of course, she was closer to doing that than she had been in a long time, too, which was probably why, as she walked to work, the sight of the kids being picked up always caught her eye. In a lot of ways, she might as well be one of them, running around and playing as they waited for their caretakers to arrive, or waiting nervously, terrified that this was the day their Mommy would forget them just waiting to hear someone call out her name, or take her hand and tell her it was time to go...
"What are you doing over here, sweetie?"
Matti flinched as she felt someone's hand slip around hers, realized, partially through the question, that it was directed at her, giving her a bewildered expression as she stared up, looking dumbfounded. "Huh?'
The woman chuckled, kneeling down. She was very friendly looking, although Matti couldn't help noting that she immediately thought of her as a woman, despite her seeming only a few years older than her. That made it all the worse, somehow, that she appeared to deem it necessary to get down on one knee to get on the same level as Matti. It wasn't entirely untrue, either, to be fair. She was pretty tall, and Matti was definitely not.
"You shouldn't cross the road by yourself," the woman chided her, Matti feeling herself blush as it slowly dawned on her what was happening, though it was obviously interpreted as something else. "You know better than that, young lady," she was scolded. "Pick-up is in front of the school, and there's no need for you to go anywhere else until a grown-up is with you."
Matti whimpered, squirming and trying not to melt into a puddle right in front of this stranger, a tingling spreading through her. She wasn't supposed to wander off without a grown-up, which meant she, of course, wasn't a grown-up herself. And how could she be? She was wearing Pull-Ups, and she spent every night in a diaper. Her roommate had hypnotized her so that she couldn't tie her shoes without wetting and messing her pants. In a lot of ways, there were probably plenty of students here that were more mature than her.
She was quite tempted to play along, to see where this went, but she knew that wouldn't end well. How would she get out of it? Who was going to pick her up? Her sister, Kelsey? She'd love that, no doubt, but Matti would die of humiliation, having to be picked up from kindergarten by her big sister, who Matti was already avoiding talking to too much to avoid the subject of her faltering grades. And, considering Matti had cheerleading practice with her several times a week, when she wasn't working, that was hard difficult enough.
"Sorry," Matti replied. "You're mistaken."
"Oh, that's a very big word!" the woman beamed, standing up and patting her on the head. "I think we need to go get you a gold star for that one!"
"Wait, no," Matti shook her head, feeling her heart pound as the woman began to walk towards the school building, pulling Matti along with her. Matti made an attempt to dig her heels in, to stop her, but how sincere it was, even she wasn't certain. And, honestly, the fact that it wasn't working was pretty hot, which made it even harder for her to find the strength to change that. "I-I'm not..."
But it was already too late. By the time she got those words out, she was already being ushered inside a kindergarten classroom, her protests cut short as she gawked, hands clutching the hem of her shirt in awe. This was it! She looked around at the bright, colorful walls, the posters with smiling children listing out numbers, the letters of the alphabet, colors, things that the students here were expected not to know yet. That this teacher assumed Matti didn't know yet, even though Matti had mastered them a decade and a half ago.
"I-I don't go here," Matti shook her head again.
"Well, I know you're not one of my students," the teacher told her gently. "But you know that all the classrooms belong to the same school, don't you?"
Matti blushed. "Of course I do!"
"Someone's grumpy," the woman commented. "Did you have another accident in your Pull-Up, dear?"
Before Matti could think about how she should react, she felt her eyes widen and lower to her crotch, confirming what the woman had said without having to say a word. Was it really that obvious?! Or was the teacher simply used to the way they looked? She squirmed in embarrassment, and horror as she felt a trickle of warmth, unable to help herself. She did need to pee, and the idea that this stranger knew about her training pants was enough to make her let go just a little, just enough to make things worse for her if she got checked.
"Wh-What do you mean, 'another?'" Matti asked after a moment, after her brain had time to fully process what had been said.
"I have to assume you already had one, and that's why you were changed out of your uniform," the teacher said. "Aww, it's okay, sweetie. Everyone learns at a different pace. You're just running a bit behind other kids your age."
Except, what she really meant was that Matti was running behind kindergartners. Matti felt a little weak in the knees, staring up at the woman, fidgeting in her soggy Pull-Up.
"Who is your teacher?" the woman asked. "We don't have many students who are still in trainers, but I can't remember who has them now."
Even for kindergartners, peeing their pants was rare. Unlike for Matti. "I-I told you," Matti swallowed, head swimming. "I-I don't..."
Suddenly, she had a thunderbolt of an idea, reaching down into her bag and pulling out her student ID. "See?" she held it up. "I go here!"
The teacher took it with a chuckle. "Very cute," she patted Matti on the head. "Did your big sister give you this to play with? I hope you didn't take it without her permission."
"No, it's mine!" Matti insisted.
"Well," the woman continued on, ignoring Matti's protests, "my name is Miss Briana. What's yours?"
Matti watched as Briana slid the ID into her pocket. "Hey, give that back!" she pouted. "That's mine!"
"You can have it back when you get picked up," Miss Briana lectured. "I don't know if you're supposed to have it or not, and I don't want you to lose it if you don't. Now, what's your name, dear?"
"I am supposed to have it!" Matti stomped her foot. "My name is Mathilda! Look at the card!" She used her full first name, since that was what was on her ID, although it turned out not to matter, since Miss Briana left the card in her pocket. "Give it back!" she whined. She wasn't driving, so she hadn't brought her license, which meant the school ID was the only thing in her possession to prove she was an adult!
"Maybe I ought to put you down for another nap until your caretaker gets here," Miss Briana sighed, pulling the bag off Matti's shoulder and setting it on one of the low, plastic tables surrounded by brightly colored chairs. "Your first one didn't seem to work."
"I didn't take a first nap! I don't take naps! I'm a big girl, and... Hey!" Matti gasped as she was picked up, one of the woman's hands resting on her bottom, giving it a pat.
"No accidents in your Pull-Ups, hmm?" Miss Briana raised an eyebrow, causing Matti to shrink back into her arms, unable to answer as she was carried to a small, dark side room, set down while the teacher laid out a mat on the floor and gestured to it.
"I-I don't..." Matti mumbled quietly, shaking her head.
Miss Briana knelt down, opening the Velcro on Matti's shoes, holding them in place. "Step out," she ordered.
"I-I'm not tired," Matti told her.
"Step out, Mathilda," Miss Briana cooed. "You don't have to sleep, just lie down for me, all right?"
"B-But I need to..." Matti shook her head, knowing she was probably already late for her job.
"Do you need to go potty?" Briana asked.
"No!" Matti's cheeks warmed, imagining Briana accompanying her into the bathroom, pulling her pants down for her, watching her use the toilet.
"Then down you go!" Miss Briana picked Matti up again, laying her down on the mat, sliding her shoes off herself once the girl was no longer standing in them. "Just try closing your eyes for me, okay?" She didn't want for a response. "Good girl."
She stepped back out into the main classroom, and Matti was certain she heard a click. She looked around, squirming on the nap mat in the middle of kindergarten, in shock. How could this have happened?! There was no other way out of this room, and even if there were, she wouldn't get far without her student ID and her shoes and her bag. She was stuck here, in a nap room, mistaken for a little girl, both her Pull-Ups and the state of them discovered within moments.
It was almost too much for her, and she wanted very badly to reach between her legs and start to rub, but as much as she didn't want to get up and try the door, and be scolded by Miss Briana, she didn't want to be seen doing that if the teacher peeked into the nap room. So all she could do was squirm and blush in the darkness, waiting to be let out, feeling her eyelids grow heavy.
She woke up with a start before she even realized she had drifted off, knowing right away that something was different. She glanced down at herself, her stomach twisting in confused knots at what she saw there.
She was on a different nap mat, she could see, the color now green rather than blue. Her jeans and t-shirt were gone, replaced by the school uniform she'd seen on all the little girls outside not that long ago, a pink polo with the logo of the school on one side of the chest, a khaki color, pleated skirt with a bow on the waistband, and white knee socks with pink bows on the top.
More importantly than that, however, was what was underneath. She knew right away that she was in a diaper now, not her Pull-Ups, and once she got the courage to lift her skirt, she was greeted by the sight of baby versions of Sesame Street characters smiling back at her.
Pampers. She'd been put into a kindergarten uniform and Pampers.
The door opened, and Matti looked up at Miss Briana, face red. "Wh-What happened?" she asked, afraid to hear the answer.
"I'm so sorry, sweetie," the teacher told her. "You were trying to tell me you needed`a diaper before naptime, weren't you? And I didn't listen. That was my fault."
Was Miss Briana telling her that she'd wet herself in her sleep?! Matti had no idea if that was true or not. It didn't seem like she'd been asleep for that long! There had been some mornings, however, when she suspected she'd woken up in a wetter diaper than the one she fell asleep in, so she couldn't rule it out.
"Come here," Miss Briana smiled, picking her up, carrying her to the main classroom once more, setting her down on her desk to slide a pair of shiny, black Mary Janes onto her feet, completing the uniform, making Matti look like a little girl, ready for her first day of kindergarten, other than the crinkly baby diapers under her skirt.
"B-But this isn't my uniform," she shook her head. "I don't go here."
"It seems to fit you perfectly well," Miss Briana pointed out.
Matti couldn't deny that, unfortunately, and despite the insanity of what was happening, and her fear of how she was going to get out of it, she could feel a warmth building between her legs, making her squirm, thinking about it. "B-But I'm a college student," she pouted.
"Really?" Miss Briana's eyes twinkled, looking Matti up and down. "Well, then, you should have no problem passing this test, should you?" She set Matti down on the floor, sending her to one of the tables with a pat on the bottom. Matti sat down uncertainly, the woman putting a test down in front of her, along with a slightly oversized, chunky pencil. "Can you do that, Mathilda?"
Matti glanced down at the test, a part of her offended that she was even being asked. It was all simple stuff, things she'd known like the back of her hand for most of her life. The other part of her only found the humiliation of it more electric. Being asked these sorts of things, dressed this way, really drove home how the teacher saw her.
"Yes, ma'am," Matti nodded confidently, picking up the pencil. She was not only going to pass it, she was going to ace it! Valerie hadn't let her do that with a test for a while now, so it was going to feel good! The cheerleader had no power over her here!
She raced through it, scribbling away, before hopping to her feet, toddling back to Miss Briana's desk. "Here you go!" she chirped.
"That was quick," the woman raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure you don't want to double check it?" Matti shook her head. "All right, then. Give me a second to grade it."
Matti returned to her seat, almost sad to be saying goodbye to all this so soon. The room was so adorable, in a way that she wouldn't have thought would appeal to her before she came in, and was made to fit in so well. And Miss Briana was nice, even if, or maybe because, she was treating Matti as little better than a toddler.
"I'm sorry, Mathilda," Miss Briana shook her head. "I'm afraid this is an F."
"What?!" Matti's eyes widened, and she hopped up, waddling over to the desk. "No, it isn't!"
What had happened?! Was she too in the habit of putting the wrong answers, to try to avoid 'training sessions' with Valerie? Or had Valerie been doing more hypnosis on her, like the kind that kept her from being able to tie her shoes? A shiver ran down her spine at the thought. Surely, she wouldn't do that, would she? If Matti couldn't pass a test for a kindergartner, asking her to draw shapes and name colors, how could she possibly finish her senior year of college?!
And, maybe even more important, why did that question turn her on so much? Why was she feeling so light-headed, almost giddy, as she stood there, looking at her test, marked up in red ink. "B-But I didn't..." she shook her head. "I-I didn't fail..."
She didn't fail tests, not without meaning to! And definitely not something on a kindergarten level! She'd skipped grades! She was always at the top of her class! And now, this uniform was feeling more and more appropriate.
"It's okay," Miss Briana said gently. "It happens. That's why you're in school. I'm sure your teacher will have you ready for this test in no time! It's okay to be a bit behind."
"I'm not!" Matti fumed. "I'm not behind!"
"Oh, my," Miss Briana sighed. "I guess a nap wasn't enough to cure your grumpies. I'm afraid there's only one thing for it."
And that was how Matti wound up on the naughty stool of a kindergarten, in uniform and diapers, pouting as she waited to be picked up by a caretaker that she knew would never arrive.
Except, to her surprise, she did hear the classroom door open, and then the sound of a familiar voice. "Hi, Miss Briana!"
"Kiara?" Matti turned to see if she was right, seeing, indeed, the girl that she tutored for.
"Did I tell you that you could come out of time-out, young lady?" Miss Briana asked, sending Matti's nose back into the corner. "Do you know this cutie, Kiara?"
"I do," Matti could practically hear the grin on the girl's face. "I babysit for her sometimes. Do you need me to take her home?"
"That would be very helpful, thank you," Miss Briana replied. "All right, Mathilda, that's enough. Come on over. It was lovely to meet you. Hopefully we'll see each other again when you're in a better mood!"
Matti was quiet most of the way to Kiara's house, until, finally, she asked, "H-How do you know her?"
"She used to babysit me," Kiara said. "Since you never showed up, I thought I'd go visit. And I'm certainly glad I did." She smirked, examining Matti in her uniform. "It really is perfect for you!"
Had any of this been real? It had definitely felt that way, in the moment, but now, hearing that Kiara knew Miss Briana, she wasn't so sure. She could have set this whole thing up, including a faked mat-wetting and failed test. It was exactly the kind of thing she could see Kiara doing to her.
On the other hand, she didn't want to ask, because she didn't even know which answer she wanted to hear. It would be nice to be reassured she hadn't fallen so far, so fast, that she didn't belong in kindergarten, and that she wouldn't fit in so easily that someone who worked with kids that age all the time could think she was one of them. Then again, so was the thought that all of that was true, and that, if she wasn't careful, it could happen at any time, with any other errant kindergarten teacher who decided to see why she was wandering around by herself.
"Well, then," Kiara announced when they got to her house. "I think we'd better start, don't you? And you'd better do a good job, or I'll leave you in that uniform when my mom gets home."
Matti blushed and nodded, knowing she couldn't possibly let that happen. Even if the woman didn't recognize the diaper under the skirt, there was no way, with the school so close, she wouldn't have seen the uniform, if Kiara hadn't worn it herself at some point. "Y-Yes, ma'am," she gulped. She may have escaped the kindergarten, if she'd ever been truly trapped there in the first place, but her lessons for the day were just beginning.
