Matti was not, at all, ready. She was pretty sure they were still in single digits when she lost count of what number they were on, and by the end, she was a blubbering baby, staring up at Jasmine with watery eyes as the woman grinned down at her. Matti's old victories were long forgotten now. There was no question, as Jasmine knelt down, yanking the girl's soggy diaper back up over her throbbing, red bottom, who was the champion here.
"Aww, that's right," Jasmine mocked. "Suck your thumb, little girl, and wet your diapers some more. That's all you're good at."
Matti frowned, confused by what she meant, realizing only then that she had, indeed, started to suck her thumb. It had seemed so natural, and like the only comfort she was going to get anytime soon, so she had no idea when it had begun, but it was hard to deny that her instinct to do it made her seem, and feel, so much more babyish.
"Now, you, young lady, are going to go stand in the corner," Jasmine ordered, Matti too weak and tired to protest. "I am going to go to the nurse's office, because I'm sure she'll have a fresh diaper for you, and maybe even some nice castor oil."
Matti whimpered, knowing what that would do. If she'd been hesitant about wetting herself, imagining doing anything else was definitely too much for her, not during her first, or second, time in diapers! And yet, that was such a huge step, such a completely infantile thing to do, to be forced into doing, that she could feel her knees quivering at the threat.
"I'm sure she'll have something that will work," Jasmine told her. "Then I'm going to change you right on my desk, before I take you to your new room and tuck you in for the night, and whatever happens in your pants happens. I think I'll go ahead and keep your key for tonight, too, to keep you from trying to go out and get to the bathroom. The doors lock automatically, so without your key, you'll be stuck outside for the rest of the night. And, since it's already past curfew, I don't think you want that, even if whoever catches you next doesn't notice your diapers, do you?"
Matti shook her head with a quiet, meek, "N-No, ma'am." Would another staff member here have spanked her for breaking curfew like that, especially that long and hard? She doubted it, but she wasn't about to find out. But what if it came down to risking that, or risking a messy diaper?! It was another impossible decision, something else so thoroughly humiliating that, even so soon after her punishment, she couldn't help being turned on by it.
"I didn't think so. Now, go to the corner, and if you move a single inch from it before I get back, you will regret it." Matti had no doubt Jasmine could, and would, follow through with that, making her stomach churn with fear and excitement as she shuffled to the corner of the classroom, feeling now that she had more than the few steps from her desk to Jasmine's to go how much more swollen the diaper was, how much more of a waddle it gave her. "Nose in the corner, hands out of your mouth and on your head!"
Matti obeyed, reluctantly plucking her thumb free from her lips, leaning forward as far into the corner as she could go, a naughty, well-punished little girl. She could heard footsteps behind her, and the classroom door opening, but she didn't dare turn around to see if Jasmine had left through it or not. This could easily just be a test, and the woman was waiting for her to slip up so she could spank her again!
She swallowed, fidgeting, mind reeling at what all of this meant. It had been one thing, having the nurse, and the laundry women, know that she was in diapers, especially when she'd assumed she was leaving after they did whatever Sierra needed here. Having Jasmine in one the secret, too, was something else altogether, even if she didn't follow through on telling Aubrey. She had a feeling Jasmine wasn't going to let her earn her way back to big girl undies anytime soon.
She shivered, recognizing that she was just assuming this was the way things were going to be now, not giving herself the benefit of the doubt that she could possibly get out of this mess. Was she really just going to accept that she was back in high school now?! She was an adult, and at the top of her class! She should be able to think her way out of this!
But, in all honesty, as she stood there with her squishy, now quite cool and clammy, diapers wrapped snugly around her very red backside, she didn't feel up to doing much of anything, especially not anything that could end with her being on the bad side of Jasmine's paddle again.
She heard something behind her, but it was so quiet she almost thought she was imagining it. It sounded somewhat like the stomp of a foot, except much fainter than that. Perhaps Jasmine had run into another wayward student, and they were protesting being sent back to their room? She didn't hear any voices, but if they were far enough away, maybe she wouldn't.
It happened again, and she was tempted to look, a bit more certain it was coming from closer than she'd assumed. She still didn't know if Jasmine was tricking her, though, and this was part of it.
The third sound was louder, like something small falling, and then, just long enough later for her to have convinced herself her mind was playing tricks on her, there was a tug on her sock. She jumped, instinctively pushing whatever it was away with her foot, glancing down in time to see Sierra tumble to the floor on her diapered bottom.
"Oh, no!" she gasped, squatting down, forgetting about her orders. "I'm so sorry!" She lifted Sierra to her feet. "Are you okay?!"
Sierra nodded, adjusting her dress, then pointing towards the open door. Matti nibbled her lip as she turned to follow her hand, assuming the witch wouldn't have left the bag if Jasmine was around, but still anxious. Thankfully, she didn't see the teacher, but the door still felt ominous, like a trap waiting to spring shut on her. Jasmine could easily be just outside, out of sight.
"I-I can't," she sniffed, shaking her head. Sierra tilted her head, staring up at her. "D-Didn't you see what happened?!" She'd forgotten totally about the fact that she probably had an audience for the whole thing. It helped, knowing Sierra had been through the same thing in the past, but she still blushed, knowing that the witch had seen her wet diapers, and how quickly Matti had crumbled into a sobbing mess.
Sierra pointed at the door again, more insistently. "I-I wanna help," Matti told her. "I do, but..." She tugged at her skirt self-consciously, looking down at the tiny witch. She was, obviously, in a pretty bad situation herself, and she hadn't given up. "O-Okay," she rubbed her eyes. "Okay, I'll try."
She had to assume that, wherever Sierra was going, she was going to get her wand back, or something else that would let her do some magic. And magic might be just what Matti needed to get out of this mess!
Or maybe, she thought to herself, getting to her feet, picking Sierra up gently with one hand and adjusting her skirt with the other, she just thought that way because that was always what Sierra needed to save herself. She could feel a little of her confidence returning as she took a step out of the corner and nothing happened. All she needed to do was get out of this school. It might be a pain to get a new student ID without a driver's license, and getting that while she was here, and not her hometown, might not be the easiest thing either, but other than that, she'd be okay. She could just get her things out of the desk drawer so that, once she'd sneaked out of the school, she could drive back to college, and, once her bottom healed, everything would be back to normal.
"Crap." Of course, it wouldn't be that easy. She gave the drawer another tug, but, same as the first time, it stayed stubbornly shut, locked. She tried the drawer above that to see if the keys were in there, but it was locked, too. She quickly scanned the top of the desk, seeing no keys there. "I don't suppose you could...?" she asked Sierra, hoping she would take her hint as she nodded to the drawer.
Sierra seemed to, though her answer was a shake of the head. Matti had hoped the lock was simple enough the witch could open it without her wand, or a verbal spell, but she knew she shouldn't be too surprised that it wasn't.
"That's okay," she took a deep breath. They could come back and do this later, though it might be more difficult when they wouldn't know, for sure, whether Jasmine was in the classroom or not. If she could get Sierra some kind of magic, however, that might not matter. "Let's go."
She grabbed her bag up, slipping Sierra inside again. She paused at the door, still half expecting Jasmine to be lurking outside, but when she saw the coast was clear, and that Sierra was pointing her away from the hall leading to the nurse's office, she scurried away, feeling more and more confident the further she got from the classroom.
Thankfully, after all of that, it was much easier. It had gotten even later, the hallways of the school dark and quiet, except for the sound of her footsteps echoing around her. She paused if she heard something that might have been the sound of another person, but that happened only once or twice as Sierra led her down the halls, up stairs, around twists and turns until, finally, they arrived at the school library.
"This is it?" she whispered. "This is what you needed?"
Sierra nodded, gesturing for Matti to open the door. Matti peeked through the small window set into the door first, making sure she didn't spot any librarians inside, then gave the door handle a try, glad to see that it wasn't locked. She stepped inside, immediately impressed at the size of the place, shelves seeming to stretch on and on.
She reached for the light switch automatically, but caught herself before she could flick it on. They still hadn't found what they were looking for, and, until then, she needed to be as stealthy as she could. "All right, then," she said, lifting Sierra up out of the bag, holding her at eye level. "So, you need a book, I assume?" Sierra nodded, closing her eyes, concentrating. Matti went silent, not wanting to interrupt.
Sierra pointed upwards, to the second level, and Matti climbed up the stairs, carrying her slowly past the shelves, giving her a chance to stop her if they got to their destination. Finally, Sierra jabbed her finger at one of the shelves. "Great!" Matti told her. "Which book?"
Sierra closed her eyes again, but this time when she opened them, she shrugged. "No problem," Matti said. "We have it narrowed down, anyway." And, one by one, she started to pull books down off of the shelf, lying them on the floor, letting Sierra see them, and shake her head. The rejected pile got taller and taller, then multiplied, Matti beginning to feel a little guilty about how big of a mess she was making, until, at last, she found it.
She didn't need Sierra to tell her it was the right one. In fact, now that it was in her hands, she felt dumb for not spotting it right away. It looked older than the other books, felt heavier when Matti picked it up. The cover was leather, with no title, and she couldn't resist opening it up before showing it to Sierra, who was hopping up and down impatiently, no doubt sensing that their quest was over, too, marveling at the ornate script, spelling out words in some language she didn't recognize, some pages illustrated with strange, ornate patterns that could have been magic circles of some sort.
She laid it out, open, on the floor, sitting down next to it as Sierra walking up to it, holding a hand over it. Suddenly, the pages began to flip on their own, turning to the back. Matti watched, fascinated, sure that she'd see some elaborate spell there when the pages stopped, but, instead, it opened to an empty page. As Matti watched, however, words started to appear.
'Thank you for your help,' they said, Matti turning her head sharply to Sierra, realizing that the words were coming from her as the little witch waved. 'I couldn't have done it without you.'
"You're welcome," Matti told her. "So, you can free yourself now? You can use your magic? If you can, I'd really like..."
The words erased themselves, started over. 'Not quite yet, I'm afraid. The magic of this world is too weak for me to restore myself without any help. I need to go somewhere else, but at this size, I'll still be pretty helpless there.'
Matti could see where this was going. "You want me to go to another world with you? A world with magic?" Sierra nodded.
So, maybe Hogwarts wasn't real after all, not here. That was a bit of a disappointment, though, at the same time, knowing that she might be going to a world where it was certainly made up for it. "I-I'll be able to get back, right?" As cool as it sounded, she didn't want to just vanish without a trace from her own life.
'Just help me get my wand, and I'll help you do whatever you like,' Sierra promised her on the page. 'Including any revenge you might want to get on that teacher.'
Matti blushed slightly. She couldn't deny the appeal of that. And, with her phone and keys locked away in Jasmine's desk, she wasn't sure how else she'd be able to get out of here, since she had a feeling anyone who lived nearby would recognize her uniform and take her back, ignoring her, to be fair, ridiculous story when she tried to protest that she didn't go to that school, making walking or hitching a ride a difficult proposition.
"Okay," she agreed. "Let's go."
'Let me just find the right spell,' Sierra wrote, pausing. Matti glanced into her bag, grabbing out a piece of paper, which turned out to be the report card, the sight of it sending a shiver of shameful delight down her spine as she folded it and stuck it into the book as a bookmark, so she could easily get back to the blank page. She was sure she could sense a smile behind the pacifier gag as the pages started to turn, flipping slowly, one by one, until, finally, they stopped.
"Is that it?" Matti asked, grabbing her bag, not that there was much in it. "Okay, whenever you're ready."
Sierra shook her head, pointing at the page, then Matti, and, after Matti stared at her for a moment, at the gag in her own mouth. "Oh." Matti blushed. "W-Well, I don't have any magic, so I don't think..."
But Sierra insisted. Matti frowned, adjusting her glasses as she looked at the book, reading over the strange words in her mind first. "Here goes nothing," Matti shrugged, expecting exactly that as she said them out loud.
There was a rush of wind, and, instinctively, Matti reached for the book, Sierra hopping on top of it, as the floor beneath Matti's soggy bottom opened up. Matti let out a yelp of surprise as she fell, part of her terrified she'd messed something up, and they'd be tumbling through the abyss forever. A moment later, however, she'd landed on soft grass, in the middle of what looked like a park on a nice, sunny, summer day.
"Oh." She looked around, a bit disappointed at how normal everything appeared. "Is this it?"
Sierra stood up on the book, which had broken her fall, Matti lifting her off of it and onto the ground, flipping to the blank page. 'Good job!' it told her. 'We made it! Now, we need to pick up a few things for this to work.'
Matti was getting pretty used to carrying the tiny witch around in her bag by now, and the book only made things easier, giving Sierra something to stand on so she could more easily see out. Of course, with it being broad daylight, the witch had to be more careful not to move around too much, or she'd be spotted. Matti, for her part, had to worry about her skirt, the summer breeze constantly threatening to blow it up and expose her wet diaper underneath.
As soon as she stepped into the store, she could feel the eyes of the workers on her. She blushed, ducking down an aisle, though, immediately, she regretted it, knowing that would make her look suspicious, and like she was trying to shoplift. Which, she realized, she might have to.
"I don't have any money, or my cards," she hissed to Sierra. "Jasmine took it all! What am I going to do?"
Even saying it out loud made her paranoid, terrified that a worker had overheard her, and was going to catch her, maybe call the police on her, as she'd been able to avoid back in her own world. Or, assuming they were back in Sierra's world, perhaps take matters into their own hands, the way people there usually seemed to.
Sierra pointed at the book beneath her, hopping off of it so Matti could pull it out of her bag and open it up to the blank page. 'Don't worry about it,' it told her. 'Just find these things.'
A list appeared, and, as she read over it, Matti turned bright red. "Wh-What do we need this for?!" she whispered, afraid she might know the answer.
Sierra rolled her eyes. 'Just get them,' she wrote, adding in, 'please,' after a moment.
Most of them weren't too bad, but they were so odd, she had no doubt the workers were watching, knowing she was up to something. There was one item she left for last, however, having to build up the courage to head down that aisle.
Once she had, however, she was stunned at what she found, her heart fluttering as she saw package after package of diapers, all different brands and designs, most of which she was fairly confident didn't exist on her world. Then again, before today, she wouldn't have thought to look for them, so what did she know?
"Wh-What..." she swallowed, trying not to sound too excited by what she was seeing. "Wh-What kind should I get?"
She expected Sierra to point to some, but there was another sigh, and a nod to the book. 'Whatever you want,' came the answer.
Matti squeezed her legs together, blushing bright red. Did this mean what she thought it meant? Was Sierra having her get these diapers for herself?! "I-I know what it looked like," she whispered, "b-but I don't..."
How humiliating, she thought, having Sierra think that Matti was the one who needed diapers, when so many of her stories, if not all of them, ended with her being in them? And, witch or not, Sierra was the size of a doll! Without her magic, she couldn't make Matti wear a diaper! Matti could just ignore her and go buy some new underwear instead. But that wasn't really what she wanted, was it? These diapers hadn't been quite as soft and comfy as she'd hoped, but with this many kinds to choose from, surely she could find some that did.
'Please just pick some.' She could practically feel the sigh emanating from the words. 'We're running out of time.'
Matti was happy to have an excuse not to protest any further, unsure she could do it without Sierra being able to pick up on the fact that she didn't mean it. She looked at the diapers, a part of her wanting to grab one pack of each, to try them all until she found the perfect ones, but when she spotted the white ones, she knew those were where she had to start. They were plain white, extra-thick, according to the package. They looked even bulkier than the ones she had on, even more babyish. They were very basic, the same basic design as what she had now, though without even the wetness indicator her current ones had, but that meant they'd be a good place to start.
"I-I'll just get these," she gave a forced chuckle. "D-Do you think they'll be okay."
'They're fine,' Sierra wrote. 'Now, go to the fitting room.'
Sierra really did want her to change! Matti's face was bright red as she took her things back across the store, ignoring the signs telling her to leave all non-clothes items outside, positive the workers would notice that, and hoping Sierra had a plan, and stepped in, locking the door behind her.
She kept her hand on the package of diapers, so eager to open it up and see how much bigger they really were, to feel them, but still trying to pretend she didn't understand what they were there for, while Sierra perused the book, snapping Matti out of her lustful staring at the pack with a stomp of her foot, pointing at the book, then all of their things.
Confused, Matti read out another spell, and, before her eyes, everything she'd picked out shrank. "Oh!" she said in surprise. "Well, that's one way to do it!"
It all fit nicely into her messenger bag, including the now tiny diapers, far too small to go onto her, to her disappointment. She loaded up her bag, set Sierra inside, and stepped out, ready to head back to the park, as Sierra had instructed her to do.
She'd almost made it out of the store when she felt a hand close around her arm. "Where do you think you're going, young lady?" an older woman asked, glaring down at her.
"H-Home?" she answered uncertainly.
"I don't think so," the woman shook her head. "I'm going to give you once chance. Do you want me to take you to the checkout lane?"
Matti shook her head. She felt guilty about this, not knowing how Kelsey had been able to do it for so long when she was younger, but she didn't have a choice. "I-I couldn't find anything," she fibbed.
"We saw you go into the fitting room with that stuff, and when you came out, it was all gone. You didn't put it back, and it wasn't in there when we went to check it out. So, why don't you open your bag for me?" the woman demanded.
"I-I didn't take anything!" Matti lied, but the woman was clearly used to dealing with thieving schoolgirls and ignored her, pulling open the flap of her bag.
Sierra froze, staying in one place as the woman looked down at the contents of the bag, bewildered. Matti could feel her forehead starting to sweat, but hoped her anxiety would be mistaken for embarrassment at being caught at her age with what, for all the world, looked like a baby doll.
"What is this?" the woman asked. "Dollhouse stuff?" Matti shrugged. She could see the woman was confused, no doubt because everything she'd seen vanish into the fitting room with Matti was here, but so much smaller that it was obvious it couldn't be the same thing. "I'm sorry," she apologized at last. "I must have... I don't know." She shook her head, letting go of Matti, letting her hurry out of the store and back to the park.
Sierra found her another spell, and, when Matti used this one, everything grew back to normal size. "Wow!" Matti beamed, excited to see it work, even if she knew she was probably just being a conduit for Sierra's powers. "Can we do that with you?"
'We'd need more power for that,' the book told her. It made sense. If it was that easy, surely Sierra would have had her do it straight away, rather than staying doll-sized.
Matti was happy to set everything up, spreading out the blanket, setting the picnic basket on it, folding up the clothes she'd bought. She hoped Sierra didn't notice the moan she couldn't help letting out when she pulled a diaper from the pack, feeling how huge it truly was, before covering it up with the rest of the outfit, such as it was.
There were a couple other spells to read, too, although Matti wasn't sure what, exactly, they were for, before, finally, they seemed to be finished, Sierra looking over their handiwork with a satisfied nod.
'All right,' she said on the blank page, 'just turn on the bubble machine, and we're done. Be careful not to look at the bubbles themselves, though.'
It was odd, of course, but Matti had come this far. She bent down, flipping on the switch on the plastic whale, turning away as she heard the motor begin to whir, knowing the bubbles would be not far behind. "What now?"
'Now,' the book said, 'we hide, and wait.'
