"But I wanna go to the real party!" Sierra pouted, staring around at the nursery where she spent most of her time already, annoyed that she was going to have to spend her New Year's Eve there as well. "It isn't fair!"
"Nothing exciting is going to happen until late anyway," Zoe informed her knowledgeably. "Way after you'd already be fast asleep!"
"I can stay up late!" Sierra insisted. "Come on, this only happens once a year!"
Zoe thought about it for a few seconds, then shook her head. "Nope," she said. "And if you don't start whining, I'll make you go to bed right now!"
Sierra crossed her arms with a renewed pout. She might as well be in bed, since she was stuck in the crib with no way out on her own, and apparently no help coming from Zoe, but the thought of actually being expected to go to sleep would just make it worse. "What am I supposed to do, then?" she sighed.
"Play dress-up," Zoe suggested, walking over to the costume chest and digging through it, giggling as she pulled a few things off the top. "Here, be a kitty again!"
Sierra blushed as the tail and ears were tossed into her crib. They'd been Christmas gifts for Zoe, even though Sierra was the one who always had to wear them. Zoe wanted a kitten, but was too immature for a real one, so, instead, Sierra had to dress up and act like a cat when Zoe wanted. She didn't even get out of her diapers when she did it, either! At least Zoe didn't look hard enough to find the collar with the bell or the heavily padded paw mittens that went with the costume.
Sierra jumped as she heard the doorbell ring. "Uh-oh, I've been playing around with you longer than I thought," Zoe shook her head. "Just play like a good little kitten and I'll come check on you later."
"But..." Sierra pouted, watching Zoe shuffle out. It really wasn't fair at all, she thought to herself, seeing Zoe's diapered bottom exit the room. She was just as much, or probably even more, of a baby as Sierra, and yet she got to go and enjoy the party and stay up until midnight, while Sierra had to sit by herself in the nursery in her thick, crinkly diapers.
Knowing Zoe would get mad if she didn't do as she was told, Sierra put on the ear headband and clipped the tail to the waistband of her diaper. It didn't improve her mood any, but it would at least keep her out of trouble when Zoe returned, if she even remembered to.
At first, she could almost forget what day it was as she sulked, sucking on her pacifier as she played listlessly with Miss Hoppikins. There were lots of times when she had to stay there, because she was in time out from something Zoe had lied about, or even sometimes something she really had done, so it could be any other night, nothing special.
Then, the music started. It was faint, but she could definitely hear it, along with an increasing number of familiar voices from the living room. Laura was definitely there, though Sierra could only tell because she'd been one of the first to show up. After more people showed up, she got quieter, unsurprisingly. She heard Rosie's voice every now and then as well, along with Zoe's other friends.
Sierra sat in her crib and listened, hugging her stuffed bunny for a while before she started to sniffle, then cry. After a few minutes, the door opened, and she heard someone slip into the nursery, although she couldn't find the strength to look up and wipe her eyes to see who it was. "What's wrong?" Zoe asked after a moment. "Do you need a change already?"
"N-No," Sierra shook her head, still staring down at the crib mattress in front of her. "I-I wanna go to the party! I'm not a baby!"
Sierra pouted as, while she was saying the last few words, Zoe checked her anyway. "You are pretty wet," she observed. "Maybe that's why you're so upset."
"No, it isn't!" Sierra insisted. "I-I just wanna see the ball drop! I'm big enough for that! I-It's not gonna be New Year's if I don't get to see that!"
Zoe hesitated, then, to Sierra's surprise, asked, "Are you sure? You know some of the people, but not everyone, and it's probably going to be a pretty boring, grown-up party..."
"Y-Yes!" Sierra nodded. "I'll be good!"
"And quiet?" Zoe asked. "Baby girls are to be seen and not heard, especially around grown-ups."
"Uh-huh," Sierra agreed. "I won't say anything, I'll just...." She paused as she finally looked up at Zoe, shocked at the sight of the other girl, or, in this case, woman. Sierra had never seen her look so mature, in her shiny, slinky party dress, under which there was little doubt that she was going without a diaper. Sierra was surprised the girl's Mommy was allowing that, though she figured there was a good chance that she was wearing some training panties or something instead.
"I guess we do need a baby New Year," Zoe shrugged, reaching up and unlatching the side of the crib. "Come on."
"D-Do I get a pretty dress like that?" Sierra asked, still dumbfounded at the sight of Zoe like that. She was certain she wouldn't look nearly as beautiful even if she did get one, but it would definitely be better than the diaper and t-shirt, or onesie, that she usually wore.
"I can get you a nice dress," Zoe giggled. "But first..." She slipped a new pacifier into Sierra's mouth, locking it into place with a strap. Sierra stared up at her, wide-eyed. "You promised you were going to be quiet," Zoe reminded her, "So what does it matter?"
Sierra would have pointed out that, because of the promise, the pacifier wasn't necessary, but, of course, she couldn't. Zoe plopped her down on the changing table, taking her out of her wet diaper and putting her in a fresh double diaper, certainly too thick to try to hide under a dress anything like Zoe's, following them up with one of Sierra's Christmas presents.
Sierra blushed as she stared down at herself, seeing the new plastic diaper cover over her pair of bulging diapers, making them even louder whenever she moved, trying to ignore the many printed declarations of "Poopy Baby Girl" on them. They were embarrassing, but surely nobody would see them, right? Then again, the tail that Zoe re-attached to the back of them might draw some attention. And if the diapers were visible, then the straps holding them in place would probably catch peoples' eyes, too.
"I know how much you try to get out of your diapers," Zoe lectured her, locking the strap tightly in place between Sierra's legs. "I can't have you doing that and making a mess in the middle of the party!"
Despite that, Sierra had a little hope, at first, that her outfit would hide all of that as Zoe helped her into a poofy-sleeved shirt, knowing there were many dresses that could go over it, none as pretty or grown-up as Zoe's, but some that weren't too bad. Then, Zoe went to the closet and returned with her selection. Sierra whined behind her pacifier and shook her head, but Zoe's mind was made up, and Sierra was no match for her.
The dress hadn't been gotten for her to match her kitty outfit, which was almost more embarrassing than if it had been, since she'd worn it regularly, and it looked super infantile. She didn't think the cat ears and tail would help much with that. It was yellow, sure to attract attention, with a happy kitty face on the front, a huge, pink bow at the waist, and skirt that would leave very little of her diaper to the imagination, cover, restraints, and all.
"Oh, I forgot!" Zoe gasped, once she had Sierra sitting up on the changing table, blushing and tugging at the dress. For a moment, she vanished, then she returned, shoving the paw mittens from the cat outfit onto Sierra's hands, forcing her fingers apart and rendering them useless. They locked into place as well, with a cute bow to cover the locks.
"I couldn't find the collar and leash," Zoe told her, which Sierra took as a mercy. "They must have fallen down to the bottom of the chest. But, I can't let you run around wild, can I?" If she could have spoken, Sierra would have told her she could. Instead, she gave a muffled whine as Zoe put her into a set of child reins instead, fastening them around her shoulders. "All right, come on, let's get you to the party."
Sierra wasn't so sure she wanted to go anymore, but it was too late to turn back now. Zoe gave a tug of the reins, making her follow, cheeks blazing as she caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror, along with Zoe. Usually, Zoe was in the thicker diapers of the two, by choice, but now, she didn't look like a baby at all, whereas Sierra looked more like one than she had in a while.
As they neared the party, Sierra tried to tug away, to turn back to the nursery, but Zoe reminded her, "The party's this way, silly!" and led her in. Sierra's eyes widened as she looked around at the living room, and all the people there, looking so mature and adult, even the ones Sierra was used to seeing in diapers as well. There were lots of people she didn't recognize, either, people who Sierra suspected were Zoe's Mommy's friends, who might not even know about Zoe's babyness. This wasn't one of the usual parties here, like at Zoe's birthday, but a real, grown-up party, full of real grown-ups! And they were all staring at her in her big, poofy diapers!
"Go on," Zoe leaned down and whispered. "Wave!" Bashfully, Sierra raised her paws and waved at the other guests, while Zoe announced, "Baby New Year has arrived!"
Sierra had little choice but to follow Zoe, since she had ahold of her reins, and Zoe seemed determined to show her off to everyone there, while Sierra stood by, blushing and staring at her feet, unable to even try to tug her dress lower over her diapers with the paw mittens. She just had to stand there, watching the people stare at her huge diapers, knowing she couldn't try to explain them or hide them.
She was at least glad that her diapers were dry, until Zoe's Mommy handed her a glass of champagne. Sierra's eyes widened at the sight. She'd never even gotten to try champagne, or any other kind of alcohol! It hardly seemed fair that Zoe should get some if she didn't! She reached for it, staring at Zoe with big eyes.
"I don't think so," Zoe giggled, easily raising it out of her reach, not that she could keep ahold of it anyway. "This is for grown-ups! But I'm sure you are thirsty, aren't you?"
So, she led Sierra into the kitchen, fixing her a large bottle of apple juice instead, removing her pacifier just long enough once they were back out among the party-goers to shove the bottle's nipple into her mouth and make her drink. From then on, if Sierra even looked at someone else's drink, thinking about how they probably had some wine, or champagne, something fancy and adult, Zoe would declare that she was thirsty and either drag Sierra to the kitchen for a refill, or hand her reins over to the person whose drink Sierra had been admiring to get it on her own, returning and letting them feed Sierra.
Just one of the bottles was enough to fill Sierra's small bladder, so it didn't take long until she was nearly bursting. She tugged at Zoe's dress, but Zoe was busy talking and ignored her. Sierra couldn't sneak off to the bathroom on her own, couldn't get the diaper off through the locked straps, couldn't undo the tapes even if she managed to get to that point because of the paws, and couldn't ask for help because of the pacifier. She had no choice but to stand there, next to Zoe, and soak her diapers, feeling them grow warm and squishy around her as the pee-pee kept streaming out of her, in front of everyone! The vast majority of them probably had no idea what was happening, but that did very little to make it less humiliating!
"What's wrong?" Zoe asked, hearing Sierra start to sniffle again. It only took one look for her to notice what it was, though that didn't stop her from checking the girl. "Already?" she shook her head. "Do you want a change?"
Sierra chewed on the pacifier nervously. What should she say? Obviously, if she had to be in a diaper, a dry one was always better, but who knew what Zoe would do? If Sierra nodded, the girl might decide to change her right there, in the middle of the party! The more she thought about it, the more convinced she was that the question was a trap, so, finally, she shook her head.
"All right," Zoe shrugged. "Well, sit there, finish your bottle, and be good," she ordered. "I'm talking."
Sierra did as she was told, carefully lowering herself to the floor, wrinkling her nose as her bottom sank into the warm, squishy padding, and cautiously using both hands to lift the bottle and try to drain the last few drops of apple juice out of it. It didn't take long at all, leaving Sierra sitting on the floor with nothing to do, staring up at the people around her. She couldn't help catching a glimpse up Zoe's skirt from her vantage point, cheeks flushing as she saw that, apparently, she'd been wrong, and Zoe wasn't wearing training panties after all. Nope, she was in real underwear, while Sierra sat there in her wet diapers, feeling ever more infantile with every passing second.
"Come on, we'd better go change you, or you'll get a rash," Zoe said finally, giving the reins a tug. When there was no response, she tried again, then knelt down, shaking her head as she picked the snoozing Sierra up. "Just what I thought," she declared quietly. "Not even close to midnight."
She carried Sierra back to the nursery, undressing her and re-double-diapering her for the night, following it up with a cute, pink onesie, then returning her to the crib, where she might as well have just stayed. "Five... Four... Three... Two... One!" she said quietly, lowering the girl to the mattress, ending with a kiss on the forehead. "Happy New Year, silly, stinky baby!" She raised the side of the crib, locking it into place, then returned to the party, leaving Sierra to sleep peacefully through into the new year, sucking happily on her new pacifier.
