BEEP...BEEP...BEEP...BEEP...thonk...

"Oh, Fuck..."

Clarissa finally found the resolve to wake up after her fifth and final alarm. Her heavy hand fell onto her phone and grabbed onto it, giving her the chance to switch it on and realize her mistake.

"7:55?" She groggily said to herself, "I shouldn't have seen Leo last night."

A noticeable coolness against her body came from the folded bed sheets left by her new friend with benefits. It was nothing serious, just someone to fill the time between working and sleeping, but he wasn't one for sticking around for too long the next morning, partly because he was a shift worker with no circadian rhythm to speak of, and he didn't want to disturb her, but mainly due to the fact he had a girlfriend who was expecting him home an hour earlier.

She really liked his company. He was charming, thoughtful, funny; a big guy with a big heart, and an even bigger dick. Better still, he was the only guy she'd met so far who was comfortable with her being modular, not that it was much of a deal breaker for her personally - most guys don't notice when girls get longer legs or bigger boobs every week - but it was nice to be more open with someone. They spent their Sunday evening together, initially planned as a causal movie together with some pizza, but things got out of hand when alcohol was introduced. A wine induced idea led to her lower half meeting Leo in the toilet mid-piss, with her shouting across her apartment asking him if there was 'any room on the seat?' I won't go into details, but it's safe to assume that they never got to the end of their movie.

Anyhow, she knew that her bit of fun had made her day get off to a bad start. For one, pushing it to get to work thanks to the rush hour. The hangover wasn't great either, but she could use a different head, so she had to hope that the hair wasn't in too much of a mess. The real problems started when she got out of bed, or at least tried. Reaching for the sheets, she noticed that her silhouette was a little thinner than usual, but soon found out why when she lifted them off.

"Hm, I don't remember taking my arm off... and I definitely don't remember taking my boobs off either..." She swung herself around to the edge of the bed with her remaining left arm, "Let's hope I can find some spaaarrrr...." doof

She also didn't realize her right leg was missing, too.

It took longer than she'd like to admit to get up, mostly due to the hangover, but the ordeal had woken her up, at least. She twisted her head to her alarm clock - '7:57'...she could be ready in 3 minutes, surely?

"Ok, new head first, then limbs, then boobs"

Luckily, she kept a spare head in a large drawer in her dresser, not for rushed mornings like this, but to test new looks to, usually, no avail. Whipping it out by the hair, which was a little disheveled, she plonked it on her dresser to reach to her current head, pulling at an odd angle as it slowly stretched... ripped... POP... and swapped them over, bringing her new head down with a wet SMACK on her soft, lethargic body.

"Phew, that feels better," came from her pouted lips on the fresh face, much less groggy than the previous dry mouth that was on the dresser, it's head lying cheek down.

"I'd put the light on if I were you..." her hungover head said, slightly muffled.

Clarissa hopped across her dingy bedroom towards her window, opening the curtains to let the light reveal the mess: worn clothes and dirty laundry all over furniture, odd shoes on the floor, her tiny trash bin over flowing, the assortment make-up boxes and mugs that needed taking to the sink. She'd never been one for cleaning, but this was a lot, even for her, but it would have to wait.

Now the hard part. Hopping again, to her closet this time, her one arm flung each door open, presenting an array of clothes bulging out at her, but no signs of anything limb-like. She forced her hand between some dresses, waving it around a bit until she struck something soft and cylindrical, and grabbed and pulled out a right arm with an elbow - that was lucky.

Other SMACK on her empty shoulder, and she was back in her closet again, but this time to no avail. she looked back at her clock... '7:59'... "Fuck."

Grabbing a top, she swiveled her head with a rubbery squelch to face behind her (a neat little trick she'd learnt from a friend) to survey the dump that was her bedroom, noticing a few articles of relatively clean looking clothing, uncoiling her twisted neck and turning on her one foot to bounce to, and then fall onto, a small pile of laundry, and something... squidgy?

A bra poked out from beneath her, being the same one she had worn a few days before, with the same perky tits still being cupped by it. She giggled a little as she brought them onto her chest... CLAP... SCHLOP...

"Oh yeah, that's more like it", she said as she adjusted her bra, her boobs rippling beneath her gaze.

She also found some panties - not matching, of course - which she checked with a quick sniff, pulling them up her leg. She did the same with a skirt, and pushed herself up and looked back at the clock again... '8:03'... "There better be construction work or something going on, I've ran out of decent excuses," she thought as she pulled the top over her head, looking around her bedroom one last time for the leg she needed.

Thankfully, she had a whole bus journey to do her make up, so that bought her time to get herself collected, although it didn't stop her from checking the mirror...

"Ah, shit! I've only got one eye! I need to take one of yours..."

"Sure, knock yourself out."

Her hungover head had clearly had enough of Monday already, letting Clarissa gently pluck out her eye with soft pop and closing the other. Another wet smack and pop, and she glanced at herself again, this time seeing a somewhat disheveled face with one blue eye and the other hazel. She also noticed that one hand was well manicured with a deep blue polish, whilst the other had the remnants of white, and a ring which she thought she'd lost a few months ago - every cloud...

She grabbed her bag and passed into her apartment, checking her phone briefly as she got her keys... '8:05'...

"Actually, if I ran I could just about make it..." She looked down at her leg, "if I could run."

Shrugging her shoulders, she hopped towards the door, figuring that missing a limb which you usually have might just pass as a good enough reason to be late to work. She even smirked a little as she picked a pair of shoes, white leather flats to be precise, and made a bit of a hash getting just the left one on.  Finally, accepting the consequences of her salacious antics, she opened a cupboard to take a coat out, when a leg just so happened to fall out right in front of her.

"Ah, thank fuck! At least I won't get cramp in this one..."

A rather satisfying SMACK and POP preceded a little jog to get the two legs working, the new one feeling a bit odd to Clarissa... maybe it was a little stiff?

"Wait, is that a... great, I've got two left feet!"

___

"...And this is your new login. Just be patient with our system, it's getting kinda old, but we're upgrading it soon, I think..."

"So what is this one for again? I know I've got my personal login and my company one, then there's the, uhhh, the one for the external systems with client info on them. Oh, and the system access key for... wait what was that for again?"

A phone started ringing in a cubicle across from the two of them. Felicia looked and sighed, resting her hands on her hips. Julie clocked her nails, elegantly finished with french tips. Whether it matched her job status was a different matter. "Don't worry, everyone gets confused. I'll be back with you in a moment," she said with a breathy and apathetic tone.

Julie made a note of what she did know at that point and double checked some other admin whilst Felicia was busy talking on the phone. Her voice didn't convey any annoyance, even if Julie was being difficult thanks to her joining the team that same morning, and she seemed to be quite bubbly despite her obvious apathy. Maybe she'd become detached from her work? Either way, she made Julie feel at ease, and the daunting first day wasn't as bad as she had thought. Felicia's figure wasn't demeaning, but her moderate height and generous curves gave her a natural pastoral authority, which was very much welcomed. Now, though, she was deep in concentration trying to find a specific spreadsheet to file her logins for the system recs... or something? Luckily, Felicia came back to help her with those logins.

"Sorry about that. I'm having to help someone with an accounts issue, but it should be sorted soon. Which login in did you need, hun?"

"Um, I can't remember what it's called now, but I know it's the file with the system logins..." she spoke aloud, not turning to face Felicia incase she lost her place in the sea of files and folders, "...I just can't seem to find it."

"Oh, I know what you mean! Let me show you."

The touch-enabled screen made pointing things out pretty easy for people assisting others, so Julie wasn't surprised when Felicia started pressing her screen. What she didn't expect was a foot to come into her field of view and start navigating through various folders, with surprising dexterity. It's big toe dashed through several menus until it found the correct directory. Felicia was talking through the whole process in semi-vague terms to keep things simple... "So you start from this file here, then click on this file to open the repo..." yet not much of it was going in as Julie watched the able foot gesticulate as if it were her hand. "...and you should find it... yep! There it is!" She chirped as her foot, with the same french tips, pointed at the file. Julie took a moment to get her bearings and open said file, letting it load with fields of text with obvious blank spaces for her information.

"Ah, thank you so much," she said with light apprehension as she began to turn in her swivel chair, "did you, uh... use your foot, or am I seeing things?"

She stopped facing Felicia as she finished her question, but got her answer almost immediately - she was missing both her arms. She swore that... no... she definitely knew Felicia had arms before. Her light pink blouse barely reached her wrists, didn't it? She put her hands on her hips when the phone rang, and she'd been writing some notes for her earlier with them. They shook hands! Had she been forced into some bizarre fever dream thanks to spreadsheets?

There was a confused silence from both of them until Felicia realized the predicament.

"Oh, of course not! I left my arms in my cubicle to finish that email I mentioned, so yeah, your not going mad!"

"Uhhh, good... that's good. Sorry, I'm not too familiar with modular stuff, and you took me by surprise, that's all."

"No, I'm sorry. I should have told you I was using my feet, since you're new. Most of the team are modular, and we make use of it as much as possible. It's why I can get you trained up whilst keeping up with my work!" She winked raised her arm stumps to make a point of them, "So just to warn you, I will be making use of my feet a lot in your first week, if that's ok with you?"

"Yeah, I don't mind at all. I find it pretty amazing how people can use all this NBM stuff in such creative ways - like you are, actually! I know someone was doing someone else's make up in the bathroom earlier with her head balanced on the sink, but I've seen that happen a few times before. You're the first person I know that seems to use it more extensively."

"That's great! I was the first to get the cellular therapy here, and once people noticed how efficient I was, it trickled down to a few people, then eventually there's a good 12 of us getting ahead, if you pardon the pun! I'll let everyone know you're cool with this kind of thing, so you'll see plenty of tootsies this week, I'm sure!"

She brought her foot up again to show Julie, letting the toes graceful move as she curled her foot slightly, revealing wrinkles across the large, pink sole, and a vein running along the top. She guessed they were size 6, a 7 maybe, but they seemed very soft looking; a well moisturized and pampered foot.

"Haha, I'll keep my eye out for random arms, then. I must say, they look really good, and they're so... dexterous. Do you do any modelling by any chance?

"No, but their previous owners did, which is why I bought them in the first place. I had to trade 2 pairs of my own feet and a head for these!"

Julie had to take a moment to process what she just said, trying to figure out how that worked exactly. Why would a model get rid of something she needed to make a living? How did Felica have 2 pairs of feet beforehand? Who's head did she own prior? Did she have more body parts just laying around gathering dust, like old clothes? If anything as certain, it was that Felica's current feet really weren't hers - Julia noticed the subtle difference in skin tone between the peachy pale legs and the slightly tanned feet, wriggling their toes slowly.

"Wow, they're gorgeous! I didn't know people traded parts?"

"Oh, we do, and it's become a bit of an obsession of mine! I'll tell you more later, but I think I've finished typing. If you need anything just let me know, ok?"

"Sure, and thanks for your help."

"Anytime!" With that, Felicia turned and stepped back out towards here cubicle, looking over her shoulder to give Julie a wink and a wave with her foot, simply bringing it back behind her and scrunching it a few times before wondering back, the empty sleeves of her blouse trailing behind her.

Looking at the time on her monitor, Julia noticed that she was 5 minutes into her coffee break, which was very much needed after that 'walk-through' those spreadsheets - the pun made her giggle into the kitchenette.

___

"Then he was like, I don't see you for that, which I don't understand because he spent all night with me, pretty much".

"Hmm..."

"Like, why come drink with my friends, flirt with me the whole time, then ask to crash at mine to only deny that your into me?"

"Hmm..."

"There's so many mixed signals, I just can't right now!"

Clarissa looked over her file and chipped nail polish. "...And did anything happen between you two?"

"Like what?"

"It can't have just been flirting."

The spoon Bella was using to make coffee landed rather heavily into the sink, "...I'm not like that..."

"I wasn't saying that, I just know that a little drink can... cross wires, that's all."

"Well, I see your point. Maybe I was a little upfront..."

"Yeah, how upfront?"

"...that's a broad term," she placed a mug next to Clarissa, holding hers in her hands. "I guess letting him stay at my place wasn't the best idea..."

"Hmmmmm..."

"...especially as my couch is still broken..."

The filing stopped abruptly. "So he slept in your bed?"

"...he wasn't going to sleep on the floor..."

"So he slept with you?"

"...I put a rolled up blanket between us, and we were both too tired to do anything."

Clarissa's eyebrows raised over her mismatched eyes. "Bella, honey, I know you better than yourself. That's just not you."

She drummed her nails on her mug pensively, "I mean, you're not wrong..."

"Hmm..."

"I... uh... it wasn't the hand I was wearing at the time, but..."

"You're blaming your modular body for a situation-ship?"

"...it technically wasn't my hand jacking him off..."

"Oh for fuck sake, Bella! Not again!"

"How is it my fault! I'm still new to all of this! I literally couldn't control myself!"

"New? You got the cellular therapy before me! You taught me that head thing..."

"What head thing?"

"The one where you turn your head like an owl."

"Oh, that one? Come on, that's easy! You should try what I'm doing?"

"And what exactly is that?"

"Well..." Bella waved her hand over her shoulders and over her empty neck, "Isn't it obvious?"

"No, like what exactly is that? Are you two people, or the same person doing some telepathy shit."

"Good question! I read up on this, and I suppose you could ask whether I'm..." At that moment, Julia walked in, much to Clarissa's relief. The newbie had a small pink mug in her hand, a herbal tea bag ready to go. Clarissa decided it would be a good time to introduce herself, even if she was going to look less bizarre tomorrow.

"Hey, you must be the new girl, right?"

"Yeah, I'm Julia. Nice to meet you. I wasn't interrupting anything, was I?"

"No, not at all! Come and join us..." She pushed a chair over for Julia with her right foot, who noticed it wasn't actually a right foot. "Don't mind Bella, she left her head at her desk, so she might be a little hands on..."

If could have given her the side eye, she was there and then as her body reached out to Julia, giving her arm a friendly squeeze. "I'm not great with faces, so don't mind me if need to feel who you are!"

A low-volume giggle came from all three.

"I guess the both of you are like Felica as well?" She could have enquired about Bella talking without a visible mouth, but she was only coming in for a drink, not to have her concept of reality completely flipped, "She told me that a lot of the people had modular therapy."

"Not all of us, but most of us have," Bella chirped, drumming her immaculacy manicured nails across her neck stump, "once you get the hang of it, you can't go back to being normal, not in my opinion anyway!"

"Ha, didn't know headless girls had opinions?" Smirked Clarissa as she crossed her legs and lent on her lap with her coffee, "You didn't have much of a brain to start with."

"Ha ha, very funny. Speaking of brains, I should go get my head on. I'll see you later... oh, and you too Julia!" She waved at both of them and went back to her cubicle, a mug in one hand and the other poised to feel for walls.

"Can she see at all?" Julia asked somewhat concerned and very confused.

"Yeah, sort of." Clarissa was reassuringly blunt. "It takes practice, but a few people can go without a head just fine, almost as if they never needed one in the first place. Bella's only been doing it a week, but credits where it's due, she's a quick learner."

"So that's why she needed to touch me?"

"Yeah, but it's also her way of making sure you know she's aware of you, like how I would look and smile at you, but of course she can't do that."

"Interesting..." a brief moment of silence arose as Julia filled her mug with hot water, Clarissa sipping on her coffee whilst swinging her foot with her legs still crossed.

"How are you finding it then? I know my first few weeks her were pretty tough."

"It's going ok so far, just getting all my admin done, so it's tedious," she took her first sip of herbal tea, the aroma filling the small side room, "I guess the hardest part is getting used to everyone being in more than one piece."

"Yeah, I don't think any of us have gotten used to that yet. I'm surprised our little quirks get us such good results."

"It's why I joined in the first place. Always looking for challenging new environments to develop my skills in!" The stilted interview discussion hadn't left Julia's system from the week before, Clarissa giving a lukewarm "Hmm, yeah" whilst making it plainly obvious that she was focusing on her 2 left feet. "Oh. is that a style choice, then?"

"Haha, no, I'm just really bad at dancing..."
