[Contains NBM/MBM elements, predominately headless stuff]

Alice laid against the widow of the bus back into town, heading at least somewhere close to her apartment. She got a cheap pad a good 20 minutes away from the nearest bus stop, but she didn't mind it too much. It gave her an excuse to get takeout more than she should have. Her breath fogged her view of the rainy streets, pedestrians pacing there way into shelter from the drizzle, occasional broken up by junctions and underpasses. After a long day of her retail job, there was nothing better than to stop thinking and letting the world go by. She didn't even put her headphones in this time. More music just wasn't what she needed right now, especially after Miria Carey gave her a headache nearly hundred times over during her shift.

Luckily, the bus was quiet. There was only the white noise of the engine and the tires on the road cancelling out a muted conversation at the back, and the occasional cough. It was a welcome change from the loud warehouse and shop floor, with the countless boxes of crap to stack and customers asking her the stupidest of questions. The early shift always killed her, too. She didn't operate at 4 in the morning, literally - she never has the time to do her stretches on these shifts, so she's usually reattaching a stiff arm every time she gets anything remotely heavy from out back, but it's better it doesn't happen later on when the store is full of customers.

The bus hmmed up to another stop, picking up another 3 people to reach a total of 12 at 2 in the afternoon, if you could believe it was that early in the day thanks to how grey the overcast was. All Alice wanted to do was snuggle up into the warmest, cosiest blanket she could think of and sleep for a week. No work, no heavy boxes, no stupid customers, just her, all alone. A jolt from the handbrake caused her head to lightly bounced against the window, prompting her to adjust her coat and scarf so that it cushioned her head better, and it was surprisingly comfy, but that could be owing to it being rather good quality. Maybe working retail has its perks? The hmm went on as streets went by again, and again, and again, and again...

A fuzzy feeling arose from the middle of Alice's chest. She was in complete comfort, warm and rested, not a care in the world, nearly... deprived of her senses? The bus had gone now, the world outside a blur. It was just her, and the wonderful numbness of sleep. She made subconscious movements as she felt gentle bumps shift her body, which was now stirring a little. Her dreamlike state started to feel more real as the bumps and jiggles became slower and slower, then suddenly one long turn to the left put the key in the ignition, as her consciousness roared into view.

The bus engine seemed to be louder now. The trees along the suburbs, leaves sparse and brown, were familiar to her, as well as the cheap but cheerful stores and her favourite restaurant to get dinner from.

"Yep, this is my stop."

Slowly, she started to get herself together, wrapping her coat over her shoulders and her scarf around her neck, but something was off. Sitting up straight in her seat, her neck on her right side felt weird, and her left ear had something pressed against it.

"Hmm, must be how I was sleeping, I doubt it's anything serious."

If she hadn't taken the opportunity to feel her neck, then her head would have fallen back onto the window. A split started to form like a tree being chopped down, caught just in time. Pushing down with a 'slop', she looked around to gather her things, or at least tried to.

"Hmm, my vision seems really, wide? What's going on..."

Her head didn't even move as she tried to turn it, forcing her to feel her head, trying to figure out what had happened, her fingers brushing against closed eyelids and lightly closed lips. Her head breathed gentle through the nose and over her curious hands when she realised what was going on...

"...My head's asleep, again! I really need to get this checked out."

Another jolt and lack of hmming made it clear that she had finally come to her stop. Having taken stock of the situation, she casually grabbed her bag and walked off, covering as much of her dormant face as possible as she passed the bus stop and right down a small alley hidden from the highway. It was a good thing she had been using NBM for a while now, so she was used to using her new additional senses by now. She had nearly normal vision, hearing, smell, all that stuff, but it was a bit difficult to get used to. Imagine seeing the world in full 360 at all times, having to focus on one part of your vision, rather than just that field of view alone.

It wasn't really good manners to use more 'bizarre' abilities in public, especially when the elderly were doing their midweek shopping in the afternoon. You wouldn't play your terrible rap playlist out loud in public on your way home, so you shouldn't take your head off either; you might give someone a heart attack. Happy that she was out of view of the wrinkles on the bus and in a more, forgiving, part of town when it comes to modularity, she popped off her sleeping noggin' wrapped in her scarf, stuffing it in the top of her bag, covering it up so it didn't get cold (and nobody got any smart ideas about stealing it) and made the long way back to her apartment, using her weird POV and some muscle memory to get to the right floor.

The small, messy pad was warm, at least. She wasn't very good at cleaning it, but it was homely enough. A slam of her front door and a feel of the walls later and she had made a little nest for her sleepy head to stay in for the time being, nestled on a few pillows and a blanket she kept at the bottom of her spread to keep her feet warm. Stepping back, she thought (somehow?) how cute she was when she slept, her mouth smiling ever so slightly, but for all her adorableness, nature called, and Alice's body had to relieve herself after refusing to do so in a public restroom back at work.

She got there, fumbling a bit, but the relief she felt was almost as sweet as the short nap she had on the bus.

"Hey, did someone lose their head at work again?"

Alice's other head, which she used around the house so she could have a full face of makeup ready at any moment, chuckled at her headless body. This wasn't the first time she had come home a little lighter.

"It fell asleep on the bus," her body replied "I put it on the bed. I don't know how long she'll be out for."

"Those morning shifts really take it out of you, don't they? Doubt you did your stretches this morning either."

"You knew I was in a rush! I lost my arm like 3 times... my boss thought it was part of a faulty mannequin and nearly throw it out before I explained what is was. I'm on my last warning for it."

"That sucks. Guess that's one down side to being a living doll. At least you could buy a new arm if you had it confiscated."

"If I was being lazy, I suppose. I'm lucky I'm a quick grower. Talking of which, can I put you on before I have third head to worry about?"

"I can't exactly stop you. Go ahead."

She finished up and stood to take hold of the head by the sink. It's hair was pretty messy since it wasn't brushed after the night before, so Alice would make sure to do that before checking on her other one.

"Just a quick question," asked the head in Alice's hands, "how can you talk?"

"Well...," Alice gestured best she could with her hips, "I technically have a pair of lips still."
