[Contains NBM/MBM elements, mainly headless stuff]

A fresh breeze followed this very pretty girl who glided into the shop, her radiant auburn hair beaming at me, her blouse a gentle pink contrasting her white and flowing skirt. She turned to flash me a near perfect smile as she disappeared behind the start of an aisle,  then the alluring scent of her perfume hit my nose. It beat the instant noodles I had for lunch, I'll put it that way.

I get customers who seem very confident the moment they walk in. No need for assistance, just looking for something to treat themselves to and they're out again. I thought this would be the case once again, but she was nowhere to be seen from behind the counter for a good 10 minutes. I waited for a little longer until I heard an audible huffing from one of the aisles, so I decided to take a quick look.

Phasing through several heads, I found her with a focused yet irritated look on her face holding two other heads in her hands. Her radiant hair was a little ruffled at the sides, clearly indicating that she'd been taking it off and on again for a while. I kept my gaze on her until she noticed and we shared eye contact for a moment.

"Hey there. Would like some help with those heads."

The girl's eyes revealed her relief at Emily's presence, even it was as a disembodied head on a shelf. It was very pretty, though.

"Yeah, I just can't decide sometimes. My friend's birthday is in a few days and I wanted to surprise her."

"Well, looking like different person definitely is one way to catch someone off guard!"

"Haha, not in that way. She's always wanted me to go blonde, but I don't really want to do it and regret it afterwards, so I thought why not go all out and change my head instead?"

"That's such a good idea! Do you think she'll like your new look?"

"Oh yeah, I'm sure she will. She's seen a few of your heads on a few people and she's always liked your proportions."

I blushed a little, even though I heard that a dozen times by this point. It's one thing being told your pretty, but it's at a whole new level when people will pay you money for copies of your face.

"Ah, that's so good to hear. I'm sure she'll love it then! Are you thinking of trying the essential range or do you want something more exotic looking?"

"Oh, I'm a big fan of your standard heads, actually. I see the need to do anything fancy with it. Problem is, I don't know whether to have blue eyes or hazel eyes."

She plonked down and rotated both the heads on a shelf towards me, their eyes open and looking around in vague curiosity. They both smiled at me.

"I never got your name by the way."

"it's Lily. I believe you're Emily, right?"

"Yep, that's me."

The two heads turned to face Lily as best they could and spoke and near unison.

"And us."

We all giggled as Lily reached to her head once again, removing it and placing next to the head I was in full control of. Her body then reached out to grab one of the other heads to place it on her body, feeling along the shelf since my head was in her way.

"Sorry, I'm still getting used to being detachable. It's such a pain when you can't see what your body's doing."

"You never really do" I replied. "If you think this is bad, just wait until you drop your eyes on the floor."

"Eyes!? I didn't even know you could remove those!"

"Oh yeah, it's disorienting when you try it for the first time, but it has it's uses when there's a hottie at the coffee shop and just have to see what's going on. I'll admit, it's hard to sneak an eye ball onto a passing tray to get a look, but it's worth it!"

"Wow, and here I am thinking that sending my legs to the toilet was cool..."

We kept up this cheerful small talk for a bit longer than expected, laughing away until we hit a dip in conversation and turned our attention back to Lily's body, which had walked off.

"Ugh, not again! I'm always doing this when I'm not concentrating!"

Losing control of your body is pretty easy to do. I do it with my feet when I've been wearing heels so I don't feel them aching, and they're easier to deal with when I send them for a pedicure. I'm very ticklish and I can't stop twitching when people touch them.

Anyway, I phased into another head to find Lily's body was staggering around the shop with her hands feels along the walls and displays for her head, finding arms and legs with them and squeezing them experimentally, with one leg giving her a good kick in the stomach and knocking it off it's unsteady legs, which carried on moving slowly up the aisle. I brought my original body out from behind the counter as the head next to Lily's reassured her.

"Don't worry, she's just having a stroll" I said with a reassuring tone. "You'll be back together soon."

My original body stuck her back together, brushing her down and holding her hand to guide her back to her head. Lily seemed to be fine with what was going on.

"Oh I'm fine. My roommate has had to deal with me a few times now. I think I'm getting better though."

I brought the body around to Lily's head and picked her up from the shelf. I lifted her up enough to clear her shoulders when she suddenly asked me a question.

"Uh, Emily. Can you keep still for a minute?"

"Um, sure. Why?"

"Well... I think I've found a head I like..."

I don't know what it was about that head in particular. Maybe I did my make up really well that day, or I had a pair of my really big blue eyes I use for work, but Lily was very keen to have it. We came to a deal and no more than 10 minutes later, Lily was walking out with one of my work heads, as happy as the vacant expression on it's now dormant face.

I was now the one who was headless, but I was in my body, not my head, taking a few moments to take in the heightened sensations I felt when I laid my hands on the counter, and the numerous pieces bits of office junk I had. The textures were sharper, the heat from the computer warmer, the breeze from the air conditioning stronger. I was deprived, yet had intensified, my senses. It felt amazing.

Eventually I had to put a head on. I phased into the nearest one I could, opening my eyes to another customer who wasn't anticipating a head to suddenly re-animate, nor a headless body to bump into her. That took some explaining.
