Day 2 of the 25 Days of TF-mas! (Contains girl to beverage tf/melting)
Kat had spent the day in Vanessa’s home, following the flattening and wrapping of the latter. The magical being was still manifested as a young woman with long, curly black hair with a light beanie and other winter attire. It was very much for the aesthetic, as Kat itself never actually felt the cold of the bitter winter air nor the heat of too many layers inside. Kat never spoke to Vanessa, or even really acknowledged her in any capacity after it was done with her, but it did keep its word to her about her home. The house was being decorated. It hung lights and little bells and dug out older decorations to set up. As bizarre a being as Kat was, there was still a pretty rapid understanding of the holiday season and Vanessa’s original intention if you ignore the part where Kat turned Vanessa into wrapping paper. However, Kat was dissatisfied. There was simply not enough merriment in this abode, and it would not rest until-
Kat’s stomach growled with anticipation.
Until it got some nice hot cocoa in its belly, that is. With renewed confidence and a new mission at hand, Kat left Vanessa to seek out a proper cup of heated choccy milk. The usual places would not do for this particular venture. No, Kat wanted a truly marvelous drink to sate its need…
Carla hated the cold. The holidays were awesome. The snow was even pretty fun. All the winter fashions were delightful. None of this did anything for Carla’s hatred of feeling cold in any way. She was a short, soft girl with a mass of freckles on her bespectacled face and light hair that she kept just above shoulder length. Looking at her now, two things would regularly come to mind; Oh, she’s cute, and holy cow it looks like she’s headed to the arctic. So bundled was she that it was a wonder she could even move. Such preparations were worth it to the girl when she finally reached her destination – a small café a mere block from her humble and heated apartment. This was by far the best place in the city, nay, the entire WORLD to go in the frigid months for a nice cup of cocoa, a little warmed cookie, and a quiet, pleasant environment to enjoy a good fantasy novel. Carla pushed open the doors to her very own Valhalla, her entry a reward for braving the cataclysmic cold of a typical winter afternoon and made her way to a seat. She claimed the spot in a corner near a window for the seclusion and the opportunity to enjoy the aesthetic of a winter wonderland without a need for risking life and limb in the cold by draping one of her coats on the back. Surprisingly, unless you knew Carla well enough to know this was not very surprising, she had another coat on underneath. Book tucked under her arm; she approached the counter to order.
After a bit of shy flirting with the cute barista girl, Carla was settling down for her afternoon activities. Despite the heroes of her novel making the obvious mistake of trusting the character that will inevitably and invariably betray them, she was having a pretty good time. So good in fact that she lifted her little cup of cocoa to her lips and took several seconds to realize it was already empty. Gosh, how long had she been reading already? She stretched a bit and looked around, coming back down into the mundane reality of her normal world.
“Mmm… wish I had another cup,” she murmured to herself.
Those magical little words helped Kat to take notice of the short reader. What better way to select a cup of cocoa than to twist the innocent mutterings of a satisfied patron?
For the unaware Carla, Kat’s mischievous grin from across the room was not the red flag it should have been. What she did notice was that it was starting to get pretty toasty in here. She attributed the heat to the HVAC and the warm cocoa shed been drinking. Either way, it was enough for her to want to shed her second coat. Freed of the increasing heat, she readjusted and decided to try to finish out this chapter of the book she’d been reading. It was way too unsatisfying to stop mid-chapter. Carla didn’t pause her reading again until a drop of liquid smacked the page she was on. The disruption of her travels to another world was quickly identified when she felt beads of sweat rolling down her nose and forehead. It was really getting warm in here! Carla tried to fan herself, tugging on the neck of her sweatshirt. Maybe she ought to tell the people up front the heat was on too high. She stood. Or rather, she tried to stand. Wobbling on unbalanced, immobile feet, she fell back into her chair with an ‘Uhf!’ The sensation was not unlike pins and needles but looking down she saw something was very wrong indeed.
Her feet were stuck together and appeared to be rather shiny or glossy on the outside. The shininess and lack of flexibility was steadily crawling up her legs. She reached down to knock tentatively on her ankles, receiving a ‘tink tink’ of her knuckles on something like ceramic. Maybe stranger was that she felt the knock on her boots as though they were her own skin, and the vibrations felt extremely foreign as they reverberated through her changing legs. Panic was starting to set in now, and she frantically looked around, fighting to keep calm and paranoid of someone watching her. No one batted an eye or spared her a glance it seemed, save for a girl with black hair and a beanie, but when she looked again the woman was gone. Okay. She definitely felt crazy now if ‘fusing ceramic legs’ didn’t make her feel that way already. Carla managed to stand, wobbling as she did so, just in time for her knees to lose the ability to bend. It was in this position that Carla started to feel both stuck and baffled that no one was paying any attention as she grunted and struggled to move. Was she just crazy? Was this all a big hallucination? Was that whipped cream in her face? That last question came to her in response to feeling something odd and wiping her cheek clean of the offending material, only for it to be whipped cream. Carla looked around, finding no obvious perpetrators. Further investigation revealed her hair was entirely coated in the stuff.
She would have felt pranked if she didn’t start melting.
Her body was dripping with more than sweat now. Her skin darkened by the second and began to take her notice when her left index finger fell off and splashed into a puddle of liquid on the floor. She screamed a very loud, silent scream. The sound simply caught in her throat. Whether she was incapable of making the sound or if her situation horrified her into muteness was impossible for the bookworm to begin parsing. She felt as though she were sinking, and indeed, looking down revealed she was sinking – into herself. Her waist down was a solid, hollow, cylindrical shaft of ceramic. Her feet pooled together at the bottom to form a solid floor, and her fused legs made up the walls. As her torso melted into a dark, sweet smelling, and rather hot liquid, it began to fall into the basin of her lower half. Simultaneously, she was shrinking, watching the floor approach her even as her vision approached the lip of what was once her hips. The heat of her melting head was mixing with her whipped cream hair, until she fell. Her whole being slipped under herself, melting and mixing away into an indiscernible cup of hot cocoa mixed with whipped cream.
Kat sat in the newly freed chair and stooped to pick up a piping hot fresh cup of cocoa – perfect for the winter months. Swirling Carla a bit further, Kat took a sip, surveying the café for its next target…
