Okay Julian, you can do this – you’re a professional! You literally woo girls on stage for a living. Julian combed through his hair and straightened his tie one more time in the mirror while he internally gave himself a pep talk to prep him for his date. Julian was a professional stage hypnotist, and a very good one at that, but his dating life had been rather… dormant until now. Surprisingly, ‘stage hypnotist’ isn’t the most sought-after career in a partner. He did have other things going for him though. He was a charismatic, fairly good looking, man with a winning smile and a healthy build. He was no star athlete, but he could boast a regular workout schedule and, typically, a full night of sleep each night. He set the comb down, gave himself another stern look of confidence, and headed out into the illuminated nighttime streets of the city he called home. It was the sort of city that made owning a car like a prisoner’s dilemma, resulting in gridlock for anyone that thought they were the only ones to use such transportation. As such, he arrived at the home of his prospective date. She lived in an apartment above her party supply shop, although looking into the window he mostly saw balloons. He supposed the rest of the supplies were more seasonal. After buzzing, down came Megan – a gorgeous woman that was to be his date. She stood at a petite 5’2”, though her heels made up the difference a bit. She had her dark brown hair braided over the front of her shoulder which complimented her equally dark eyes as she looked up at him, one hand clutching her cute purse, the other closing the door behind her. They’d met by happenstance at a local event and hit it off, leading to the hypnotist asking her out – completely trance free, might he add. Ever the gentleman, he offered his arm to the lady, who hooked her arm through his and let him lead the way to the restaurant with which he’d made reservations for them. They chatted with small talk and compliments of each other’s attire.

The date was going well for the pair of them. They enjoyed similar movies and humors, as well as choice of food. They chatted like old friends rekindling after a long time being apart, only to find neither had changed in all that time. Of course, things could only go downhill from here, and though he’d been bracing for the moment all night before the date began, Megan’s next question caught him by surprise.

“So, what do you do for a living?” She asked, taking another bite of her food.

Julian was not ashamed of his career, far from it, but the longer he spent with Megan and the more they clicked, the more anxious he became of her response to his profession. Nevertheless, he spoke honestly – it wasn’t like he could hide it long anyway if they went on more dates, “I’m a hypnotist.”

“What, like hypnotherapy or something?”

“Ah, no, the ah, stage variety.” He said, adjusting his tie a bit.

“Oh neat,” she replied relatively harmlessly.

Now this took Julian completely off guard. Was she more open minded than he’d given her credit for? He decided to find out, “You don’t think it strange?”

“Oh sure, but I mean, its entertainment, right? Its not like you actually think you’re hypnotizing people, but you need to be a good actor and showman to pull it off like you do,” she said.

“Well, that’s where you’re wrong, actually,” He said, just the slightest bit offended, “I do legitimately hypnotize people.”

She snorted, “Oh okay- I didn’t realize you took your work so seriously!” She laughed, “But alright, I’ll bite,” she added, hushing his mounting rebuttal, with a coy smile, “I’ll believe you… If you prove it to me. Tomorrow morning, my shop. I’ll let you in before we open, and I’ll let you try your hocus pocus. If you succeed, I’ll take back everything I said and come to one of your shows… but if you’re just a great actor with the looks to match, I want another fancy dinner. Deal?”

“Deal.”

And so it was that Julian found himself approaching Megan’s party supply-but-actually-mostly-balloons store, ready to show her some real hypnotism. He mulled it over all night on what he should actually do to prove it – it’d need to be something that left an obvious sign behind. It took most of the night, but the answer came to him in a flash of inspiration. The locale itself would provide them the perfect opportunity. He looked up from his contemplative stare into the middle distance at the darkened shop, his trusty pocket watch gripped tight in his pocket.

Several minutes passed before the door was unlocked and Megan let him in, “Alright, here’s your chance, big guy – can you convert a doubter?” she playfully teased. Truth be told, she hadn’t expected him to take her challenge so seriously. It was cute, in a way.

“I’m a professional – of course I can,” Julian replied with no small amount of pride and charismatic confidence. He simply had to treat this as any other session, and it would go just fine. “Now, my dear, I should inform you that hypnotic suggestion is all about being open minded, relaxing, and going with the flow,” he said, stepping around her to adjust her stance and relax her shoulders, “So just take a deep breath for me and we’ll get started.”

Megan did take a breath as instructed, willing to play along for now. He was putting a lot of effort in, she supposed, and the relaxation exercise would probably do her some good. She was breathing slowly and rhythmically now; the weight of her stressful work life was starting to slip off her shoulders. Then Julian pulled out his pocket watch, and let it dangle in front of her. It was hilariously stereotypical, Megan thought, but Julian’s calm voice and explanation did enough for her not to break her breathing.

“I know it may seem silly, but its useful to have your eyes focus on something. Even better if that something has a rhythm like your breathing. So, keep your eyes on the watch and let’s get started…” He let the watch began to sway. Back and forth, to and fro, in a steady, slow rhythm. Surprisingly enough for Megan, it was sort of relaxing to fall into that autopilot mode of breathing in time with her eyes swaying automatically with the watch. She could almost lean back in her own body for lack of a better analogy. So focused on this, she didn’t really register the words Julian was saying… at least not consciously. This went on for some time, Julian swaying and telling her to relax, to watch, to let herself fall further into that daydreaming state of existing in her own mind while her body was set to auto. Her eyelids began to sag, but she still watched the swaying pocket watch. He started to count down and she fell down with him, her eyes shutting at 0, and her body slumping forward into his waiting arms.

“Good, good… sleep now…” Julian said, carefully sitting her down. “Now Megan, your unconscious mind still hears my voice, and you know that everything I say is the utmost truth…” He licked his lips – this was the real test. “Soon I will wake you, and you will feel an uncontrollable urge to fill every balloon you see. You will be completely robotic in this mission. You won’t respond to any stimuli or even really care about anything but filling each and every balloon you can find. Only when you see no more balloons to fill will you awaken.”

He smiled. He figured most of the balloons were in the back storage so although there were plenty to fill here, it wouldn’t take her all day to do this task. Plus, it gave him ample time to picture or film her in case she claims she just fell asleep and suggests he filled them all.

Megan’s world was foggy, like warm steam wrapping her mind in a blanket of relaxation. She felt as though she were simply floating. Then an idea seeded itself into her mind. An idea she mistook for her own, but, of course, it was planted there by the man sitting across from her. Balloons. Filling balloons. That was the simple, yet intoxicating idea. She truly could not let this idea go. Soon enough, her mind was brought to the surface and her eyes fluttered open. She looked around a moment but did not verbally acknowledge Julian at all. Truth be told she couldn’t care less about anything but one thought. One all consuming desire. Megan stood and, almost mechanically, approached a stack of balloons on the table and began inflating them. She tied them off with expert precision before immediately tossing it aside and inflating the next. She was impressively dutiful with the entire process.

“Megan? What are you doing?” Julian asked with feigned concern, smiling behind the camera on his phone.

Megan did not reply.

“Hellooo? You seem like you’re… in some sort of trance!”

Megan silently filled balloons.

This went on back and forth for a while until Julian was satisfied with the amount of footage he’d gotten of Megan’s deadpan expression mindlessly inflating balloons. Soon enough the main floor was empty of deflated balloons. Much too soon, in fact, she was crazy efficient. Surrounded by inflated balloons of various shapes, sizes, and colors, Megan approached Julian. The latter opened his mouth to say something suave but was cut off by surprise when Megan planted a kiss on his lips without hesitation. He surely wasn’t complaining, but the confusion made itself clear on his face. Even more confusing, and alarming, was that when his eyes met hers, Megan’s expression had not changed. She was still staring onward with stone-faced determination. His confusion was answered by a sensation as she began to blow into his mouth. Much more force was sent into him than he expected, and the whole situation left him completely at a loss. Megan cared not for this, and she continued to blow into him like she had with every other balloon, for that was what her eyes saw in Julian: an uninflated balloon. Julian’s body responded in kind to Megan’s puffing, and his shirt began to strain. His hand flew to his tummy and stopped sooner than expected – his belly was beginning to distend from the air being forced into him. Julian tried to pull away from Megan, but she pressed him against the wall and continued puffing and puffing, faster now. He felt his body pulse with each breath she blew into him, and a strange tingling sensation followed it, almost numbing as he felt his skin begin to stretch. His muffled cries fell on deaf, uncaring ears, as Megan’s only thought was inflating the balloons she saw. She was utterly incapable of responding to him whatsoever. He felt his torso up and down, feeling strange new curves where angles once existed, and his whole body began to resemble a caricature of a corporate fat cat. His roundness was at its zenith in his belly, and steadily sloped off in all directions to create the illusion of weight, despite his body never having been lighter. Megan’s steady puffs rocked his body to an unheard beat, and his arms began to tingle and fill – bloating to nearly unbendable uselessness forced to stick out at his sides.

Julian could feel his body pressing against hers more and more, forcing his middle away from the wall, and yet still touching it. He couldn’t move his head to see, but his backside had joined in the rhythmic inflating and was now racing to join his massively rotund belly. Already he was beyond the width of any normal person, giving him an extremely cartoonish look to him. His belly and chest had lost distinction from one another, joined in a uniform, spherical curve that only grew with each and every breath Megan took. Much to his panic, she did not seem to be slowing down in the slightest. His arms, already stuck straight out, began to sink into his enormous frame as she pushed his straining skin to the limit. His legs suffered a similar fate, slowly but steadily consumed by his butt or his belly, he could hardly tell where one ended and the other began anymore. His body was fully a sphere by now, with only remnants of appendages sinking into divots on five points on his body. He begged in muffled, strained pleas for her to wake up or to stop, but Megan kept on blowing. Julian was far and away the largest balloon in her shop, and with every creak and groan of his bloated body, he feared the seemingly inevitable pop. The fear, it seemed, was not to come to fruit however, as she finally pulled back from her kiss. A tiny bit of air squeaked from his lips, but the relief was more of a tease than anything as she pinched his lips shut and stretched them out with ease, tying them in a knot to keep his air trapped within. She tied a string to his knotted lips and left him to bob around with the other balloons. Megan stepped away from him, turning her back and returning to the center of the room before finally waking up.

Megan looked around, “What the…? Julian?” she shook her head. She’d been standing here, watching his watch and relaxing and then… she could not recall. She marveled slack-jawed at the myriad of balloons all over the shop, “Did I do that? Was I actually…” She could hardly believe it. She supposed she owed Julian an apology, wherever her was. She wandered the shop, calling out to him, but unbeknownst to her, he was incapable of answering. She was about to start getting frustrated with him when she passed a mirror on the wall. Something made her stop and look – something deep rooted within her mind demanded she look at the balloon in the mirror. Balloon? That’s right… There’s a balloon there, in the mirror… It’s not inflated… Have to… Have…

Julian had rolled onto his belly and could only stare on as Megan watched herself in the mirror. Her body was rigid, and though he couldn’t see from here, her eyes had glazed over as she sank back into trance. He watched her approach a helium tank and affix her mouth to the nozzle. The harsh hiss of the air rushing into her body made him wince. It flooded her body so much faster than his experience, and he watched as, like a time lapse, her body began to wobble and bloat as she clung to the helium tank. Megan’s petite frame expanded in all directions. Her bust and belly raced one another, while her butt blew out like airbags to balance her out. She’d already doubled her width and was rapidly approaching triple when her legs began to lift from the floor. Her legs were rubbing together now, filled with helium and bloated into balloons in their own right. Her body strained and groaned, hardly able to keep up with the rapid growth she was experiencing, and yet, all the while, she remained utterly focused on the task of inflating the balloon that was her body. She felt her bust grow into massive orbs that rested atop the utter blimp her belly had become, but she clung to the tank all the while. Her back and buttocks had finally caught up to and challenged her chest and belly, causing her body to grow spherical like Julian’s had. Her arms fell away from the tank, and she held on by her mouth alone. Like Julian before her, the arms and legs, already bloated beyond recognition, were steadily devoured by her monstrous torso. The feeling was… indescribable. Megan’s skin was stretched taut across every inch of her body, and the rush of air that steadily lifted her into the air tickled and tingled simultaneously. Every movement was accentuated by sensations rocketing across her ultra-sensitive body. If she weren’t so muddled in her mind, she would probably genuinely enjoy the process.

Then her lips slipped away from the nozzle.

The first few moments after this, her body was simply suspended above the tank, delightfully round and inflated. Then air began to rush out of her mouth, flapping her lips with the force and propelling her light-as-a-feather body across the shop. Her body flapped wildly and bounced against all of the balloons and fixtures. She even bounced against Julian, sending his body rolling back until he settled upside down. Her body’s admittedly hilarious flying about came to an end as the last of the air finally escaped her now stretched out lips. She did not, however, return to normal size. Rather, her utterly empty and stretched out body lay in a collapsed heap on the floor, nearly indistinguishable from a deflated rubber balloon – albeit a large one. Julian’s hopes of recovery were dashed with the realization that he could not hear her walking around. Julian the over-inflated balloon sat, helplessly waiting for Megan the deflated balloon’s employee to arrive and open the shop a few hours later.

The employee was surprised at the state of the store. Was there some sort of event going on? Her boss didn’t usually go nuts on the displays like this, but she shrugged to herself. Such matters were above her paygrade. She did take note of the heap of Megan on the floor and took it upon herself to inflate and tie off the last balloon, setting it next to the other extremely large balloon in the corner before setting about the rest of her opening duties.

It seemed as though Julian and Megan were to spend quite a bit more time with one another…
