An updated (and slightly retitled) version of thief statue or statue thief? Cleaned up and adjusted in places. The original description was as follows:

"i loved final fantasy 9, and i found a lot of the possible backstories of some characters intresting, especially tantalus. they might have been supporting characters but i think there was a lot that could be done about their exploits as theives. as anyone whoever reads this will either already knows or will soon know beyond any doubt i also like petrification stories and art. so i figured maybe i could combine the two with a story. kill two birds with one stone so to speak .
in this story, tantalus have been hired by someone to steal back a precious item that once belonged to their family, but the gallery it's held in has tight security. the solution? sneak someone in as an exhibit! zidane soons finds himself turned into a sculpture and shipped into the gallery. trouble is, he's not so certain any more if he'll be able to get out...I

This was actually the very first story I uploaded to Deviantart over seven years ago... And boy, it felt like it. I'm hardly super-confident in my writing now, but I'm fairly sure I've improved quite a bit since then. It also reminded me a little of why updating my older stories hasn't happened much - it really is tedious to fix my old mistakes

Still, excluding very bad old bits of "art", I have a few dozen older stories in storage that could be cleaned up. Maybe some could be cleaned up or totally re-written. Time will tell.
