Author's Note, Intro and Chapter One:

This is an independent project of mine that I have been plotting for months, though only recently have I felt prepared to try and start the actual story. Though drawing on lessons from previous works of mine, it is almost totally unconnected to them. It is, of course, based on My Little Pony.

I would like to take this chance to repeat something: I generally prefer to disregard most things after season two. As I said in fav.me/d73t7v1 , I will at best only use selected elements. 

I would also like to make it clear that this fanfiction is an undeniable alternative universe. All bets from canon may be off, for all you know, or very much on. Telling you one way or another at this point however would somewhat spoil the fun...

In the original UFO: Enemy Unknown/X-Com: UFO Defense, the Farm Terrain could have fields filled with various crops or orchards with apple trees, not to mention lots of barns, farmhouses, fences, walls, regular trees, haybales and hedgerows.  And, of course, fields of wheat.

An apple farm was perhaps too obvious a first encounter location.

Interestingly, apple trees were slightly weaker than normal trees, 16 points versus 22.

And as a small and quick tidbit? At one point, the X-Com intellectual property was in fact owned by... Hasbro. What could have been...
