Mimi groaned in frustration. It was only a few days to the halloween party and while she'd finally picked a costume, everything that could have helped make it seemed out of stock or taking too long to deliver online. And hitting brick and mortar stores was no good, not at this time of night. She sat in pink pyjamas, staring angrily at the screen telling her the perfect part of her planned costume would arrive too late if ordered now.
"Gha, if only there was some way to get a change of costume right away!" She moaned.
"Uh, yeah. If only," Palmon agreed, hoping her human partner didn't figure out a possibility.
"Like when we go into the Digital World, we can change costumes right away somehow. I need to get someone to explain that to me again..."
Palmon sighed, as Mimi was well on track to an impending mess.
"Sure, you do that..."
"Oh! Wait, Palmon! Is there a way I can go to the digital world, pick what costume I get, then bring it back?!"
"I, uh..."
"I'll try!" Mimi said, holding up her digivice and opening a Digi-port, which she hopped through with a flash.
Palmon blinked, confused.
"...She doesn't have a D-3, how'd she do that?"
A moment later, the screen flashed again, and it was not Mimi that returned, but a wolf-like anthropomorphic female. Specifically, a Hellhound. Loona from the web series Helluva Boss, a show Mimi had managed to get herself slightly obsessed with recently.
"Hah, it worked! That was easy, and this costume is perfect! It's like I've turned into Loona!" Mimi said, her voice unchanged, but tail wagging happily.
She then realised something. There was no zipper, and the tail was moving. She poked herself in the arm, and realised that it was in fact her arm she prodded, not her arm under a fursuit.
"Uh.... Oh. It's not a costume. Palmon, can you call Izzy to come figure this out, I think I might scratch my phone with these claws?" The wolf-like Mimi said, ironically in a sheepish way.
The plant Digimon sighed.
"Alright, probably a good idea, I have no idea what you did either so hopping back in to turn back might screw things up even more. And give me your Digivice."
"Huh? Why?"
"So you don't open another Digi-Port."
Mimi!Loona rummaged in her pockets producing the Digivice after a moment, and handed it over while Palmon tried to video-call Izzy.
"Hmm, I wonder though, the real Loona can use the grimoire to make portals. If I somehow had one...."
"NO! Mimi, stop having ideas!" Palmon screeched, just as Izzy answered the call.
"...She did something dumb again didn't she?" He sighed.
"Yes!" Palmon replied.
"Dumb but cool!" Mimi added, leaning over and letting Izzy see her.
"...I'll be right over. How'd you manage to turn into a pokemon again?"
"Wha- I'm not a pokemon, idiot! I'm Loona!"
"I might not be as into k-pop as you but even I know there's like ten or fifteen of them and they're not wolves. Or is it like some kind of alternative version of that horse princess?"
Palmon wrapped a vine around Mimi's muzzle as she was about to rant at the other human.
"Just come over to help fix it. And let Mimi rant at you in person. Or in hellhound, whatever..."
