In a closed mall, four teens and a dog sat around some clown wearing a bedsheet that posed as either a ghost or a racist. Said ghost/racist was currently tied to a chair after a wacky chase.

"Alright, gang, let's see who our ghost really is!" Fred said, tugging away the sheet from the capture 'phantom'.

"It's... Some woman we've never seen before?" Velma frowned.

"Like, zoinks, what a twist!" Shaggy added.

The woman was grey-haired, but looked in her late thirties. She also wore a black dress.

"Yes, you meddling kids have caught the Department Store phantom, but you fail to understand the gravity of the situation! For this mall is built on the convergence of ley lines atop an ancient burial ground!"

"Actually the IKEA is on the burial ground, a good three-four blocks away," Daphne corrected.

"All the Blåhajs came to life that one time," Velma added.

"Oh. Well, anyway, point is, I'm actually a witch and this place gives my power a boost."

As a demonstration, she immediately undid her bindings without any visible action on her part. The gang backed up in surprise.

"Ruh roh," Scooby gulped.

"But witches aren't real!" Fred exclaimed.

"Keep telling yourself that, kid," the Witch sighed, and snapped her fingers.

With a flash of light and crackle of electricity, the five found themselves in the front window, staring out at the deserted mall.

"How'd we get here!?" Velma exclaimed.

"And why are my feet stuck on the ground?" Shaggy added.

The Witch appeared outside the shop, waving at them, as the glass before them began to grow more reflective. The five gasped as they saw a wave of glowing energy rising up their legs, leaving bare shiny-looking white plastic in the wake. They found themselves unable to move or even cry out, just staring at their own altering reflections, their shoes changing.

Velma's became white high heels as her socks became white knee high stockings, her skirt turning white. Shaggy's shoes and bellbottoms shifted to more formal looking attire, the bottoms of dress trousers and polished black leather replacing the scuffed footwear he once wore. Fred's shoes became boots with spurs as his jeans were covered by leather chaps. Daphne's shoes became black and her pantyhose shifted to a darker tone, while her skirt began to turn blue. Scooby, meanwhile, shifted and turned grey, looking more bestial, as he transformed into a large plush werewolf-looking creature.

Velma's nurse costume finished itself, while Shaggy suddenly had a cape and waistcoat, a vampire costume. Fred's cowboy look finished with a belt holding nerf guns and a leather vest over a red shirt. Daphne meanwhile now wore a police-style uniform, short-skirted, short-sleeved, and with a generous neckline beside the oversized bronze badge.

Their horrified faces shifted to moulded thin smiles, with fake vampire teeth attached to Shaggy, and their eyes blanked into the same white as the rest of their bodies. Their hair became wigs, a ten gallon hat on Fred, the style shifting for Shaggy to resemble Dracula, sunshades appearing on Daphne, and a nurse's cap on Velma.

Another wave from the Witch and various items appeared. Velma now held a pumpkin full of candy, Fred stood by various decorations, Daphne now held up a small tray with an assortment of costume make-up, while Shaggy now held onto a skeleton puppet dangling from white plastic fingers. The gang were now nothing but a store display for Halloween.

"Have fun, folks! You'll be here six weeks like this. Then, well, they usually just swap a dressed mannequin for another then take the old display in the back, swap the clothes. You'll probably get some nice winter fashions on, and that means, well, not only will you just me more mannequins with no ties to each other as far as the shop workers care, your stiff limbs make it hard to redress you. Odds are you'll all be separated... In more ways than one," She cackled with a glance at the seams on their joints.

The four mannequins and one giant stuffed doll had no reply but to stare from blank eyes out into the empty mall as the Witch vanished away.
