In an apartment in Tokyo, a blond male human slept peacefully. Takeru "TK" Takaishi did not see the strange blips that began manifesting in the air, like raining binary code and pixels of white noise. Nor did the similarly snoozing Patamon observe this strange phenomenon, as the air above the bed shimmered, a faint glow coming off the raining digital haze at first, but as more and more fell onto the human below, it grew in intensity... and spread to him.

After a few moments, all that was visible of him below the bedsheets glowed, and his whole body below it was glowing too. The luminescent human began shifting, becoming smaller and smaller, until his whole body was now under the covers. The glow began to fade, and the strange blips also ceased, leaving no sign they had been there bar the much smaller shape now slumbering away...

A few hours later, an alarm clock buzzed to life, and the shape began shifting, groaning in the wake-up haze as noise disturbed the slumber. Takeru blinked, and then realised somehow the covers were over his head, and reached up to try remove them.

And confused, he found his arm was much shorter than expected.

"Huh? What..."

Fumbling, bewildered, and not fully awake, he squirmed and tried to figure out the problem, accidentally rolling himself out of bed with a small thud.

"Ow! And I'm caught in the covers still, great. What's going on here?!"

Patamon, also awake, looked at the scene in confusion before trying to tug at the covers now writhing on the floor. A little effort pulled them away.

And Takeru was freed, able to properly see... and yelped.

He was now a Digimon, a kind he did not recognise. Small, white, reptilian, with a tail he was sitting on. Jumping up, he saw himself in a mirror. Three horns, black-tipped. Spikes on the back of his head were tipped in red, he saw his hands and feet now had purple claws, a red bracelet was on one wrist, and a ragged blue bandana was around his neck.

"I'm a Digimon?!" Takeru exclaimed.

"Uh, yeah. You are. How?" Patamon wondered.

"I don't know! What Digimon did I even become?"

He realised with some dismay, he was also a lot shorter. Standing up, he barely reached up to about where his hips were as a regular human teenager...

"Uh... I don't know either. Maybe we should call someone, since your mom's still out of town...." Patamon suggested.

"Yeah, good idea, Izzy might have some idea what happened and how to fix it."

He could just reach up his bedside table to his phone, which had stopped the buzzing alarm. But realised a flaw.

"Uh, Patamon, I don't have thumbs to unlock it any more. And I don't think these claws will get the pattern to work."

Patamon sighed.

"I'll go borrow a touchscreen pen from Hawkmon," he said, flying out the window before Takeru could react.

"Wait, don't let Yolei know about this yet! She'll be worse than useless!" Takeru shouted, trying to leap to the window.... But being too short to even reach it.

Sighing, he sat down on the much-too-close floor and waited for his actually-Digimon partner to return, and then realised something.

"...What happened to my pyjamas?"
