Fuyumi Todoroki walked through the late afternoon streets, her day at Elementary School over. The young teacher was heading over to hospital, to see her mother Rei, and a little tired out from working. Teaching was tricky enough, but when the class was just starting to get quirks, it was like herding cats. Cats that could breathe fire, teleport, grow their fingernails, climb on walls...

A chime from her phone interrupted her funk and almost automatically, she looked down at the device.

...And her mind went blank as she stared at the screen. An observer may have seen her eyes spiral, a spinning top of glowing energy flitting across them for a moment, before she blinked, staring at an empty phone screen.

"Huh? What happened there? There's... no message. Is this phone acting up?"

She sighed, putting it away, before moving on.

Rei Todoroki was in good spirits, especially with her daughter's visit. They spoke of Fuyumi's teaching, of her son Shoto, assorted small talk. But the time passed and visiting hours were over.

"Well, mother, I'll come by again as soon as I can and... Oh..."

The younger woman stiffened, and then spoke somewhat oddly... but Rei didn't notice it at first.

"I need to show you something on my phone, I almost forgot," Fuyumi said, raising the screen.

Rei's eyes locked on it, and sprialled, mind blank. Her own phone on a table lit up suddenly, a strange glow. Fuyumi stood there, staring at Rei in a loose stillness, like a marionette held to attention by her puppeteer....

***

Fuyumi slept serenely later that night, not a trace of any of the strange events shown. Indeed, the oddness with the phones wasn't even in her memories of the day. She slept peacefully, as the clock moved towards midnight.

And as it ticked over, her phone glowed. The sleeping woman opened her eyes, filled with sprials. Her expression went blank, as she silently, but stiffly, got out of bed. Putting on her glasses and walkign barefoot in her nightgown, she neared her computer, the monitor glowing to life. Without a sound, she neared it, raised her phone to it.

And then the glowing grew in intensity, from phone and monitor. The room was engulfed in white blidning light, and when it faded, the screen was blank. And Fuyumi was gone.

Simultaneously, across town, Rei slept too. Twelve struck, and Rei awoke. In distant syncronicity with her daughter, she stood up with blank expression and spiral eyes. Softly her bare feet padded over the floor in her hospital nightgown, walking over to the television hanging off the wall in her room. She held her phone to it as it glowed on, and with the same intense light, the hospital room was bathed in blidning white.

And when it subsided, the room was empty. Rei too was gone.

One AM came, and elsewhere, in the UA High School dorms, another shape stood in her nightgown, with stiff posture and blank face. Mei Hatsume's eyes glowed pure white on their own, not just reflecting the glow of the computer monitor before her. The pink-haired Support Student spoke in a flat, robotic tone.

"The white noise app has passed the test run. Subjects Alpha and Beta were added to the network. Full release is ready," She said.

"Good. Proceed at your own pace. Your nearest targets are as follows..."

The screen shifted, showing a number of files. Ochaco Uraka, Momo Yayorozu, Ibara Shiozaki, Itsuka Kendo. Fellow students of the UA Academy, easy to ensnare simply through proximity.

"Affirmative, Master Datamon," the pink-haired inventor nodded.

"With support of at least those four you will be able to move on our primary objective."

A new file appeared, a picture of a round faced blonde in glasses.

"Melissa Shield. With her in the network we have access to I-Island..."

"Correct. The firewalls there are potent, even I cannot enter them without inside assitance."

"And from there we are unstoppable," Mei smiled softly.

***

At the other side of the screen, in the Digital World, Datamon nodded agreement.

"Yes... I will be unstoppable," The Machine Digimon said with glee.

He cut the connection, looking at the Alpha and Beta subjects, the test of the virus, and the test of the spread. The mother and daughter stood with silver helmets on their heads, their brainwaves being copied and rewritten.

He saw the data indicate they were prepared, but sought verbal confirmation. Humans were such complex creatures, lacking the purity of a simple code running them all. From Abbadomon to Zurumon, every digimon had a rational code that presented alterations externally and with easy scanning. But humans, their DNA, it varied so much without many visual alterations, and even with the genome of humans being an equivelant of sorts, he had no easy means of altering it... without first converting it to true data.

"Are you prepared for final evolution and conversion?"

"Yes, Master Datamon," they said together in a robotic tone.

"Very well. Remove those strange cloth things and move to the converter," He ordered.

The two disrobed, and moved to the converter, a large metal pad. The two stood upon it, the device having enough room to hold another five or six people, but the two were side by side. A glass dome fell slowly over them, as they simply stood with blank spiralling eyes.

They did not care about the chill of the pad on their feet, or the coldness of their naked forms. They cared only about Datamon's orders.

"You will convert the so-called 'pain' that this procdeure inflicts into the human emotion of 'pleasure'. This has a 99.78% probability of preventing any break of control, though even with pain the chances the conversion will breach are only 0.012%."

"We obey," Both women said.

The pad glowed for a minute, the two standing still. Datamon observed the running program, making small alterations and adjustments while the system prepared. And then it began.

The feet of the humans glowed, a spreading change that flowed up. What should have been agony became delight, the rewired minds of the two working overtime to overcome their human nervous systems. Where the light faded their flesh had become a silvery metal, their joints now servos and sockets. Up and up the wave went, a few panel lines emerging and glowing softly up their legs rather than leaving pure silver. Both glowed an icy white in those panel lines, as they kept transforming.

As the wave moved up and up, they became more and more robotic. They gave soft moans and groans of pleasure rather than the agony their transmuting flesh should have been in. And as it washed over their heads, their eyes shifted into the same icy glow as their panel lines... and they were finished. The two former humans now stood as near identical robotic drones, eyes glowing.

The tube rose, and the robots marched forth.

"Drone T2R active," The former Rei said.

"Drone T1F active," The ex-Fuyumi reported.

"Excellent. Now, one last copy of your original minds for archiving, to compare the previous copies to these fully converted ones. If any corruption occurs it must be addressed. Loss of data is not acceptable," Datamon said, as wires dropped from above and connected into the back of the drone's necks.

The two shuddered as they were connected, and the data was copied over. The scans showed no loss of data, so Datamon happily saved them to archive drives, and began fully rewriting the data onboard the drones.

"Yes, with data coherency, I can create duplicates of human forms, to blend into the human world easier. Your holographic systems, though, do they function?"

The two shimmered, and the robots seemed to fade, in their place, Fuyumi and Rei stood, looking completely normal. They wore simple clothing for the test, white toga-like dresses. A few commands let the holograms shift look to wear their more common attire, and Datamon nodded.

"Good, but holograms are imperfect. Bioemerged clones will trigger less alerts, looking fully human at all but the deepest levels. Your clones when ready shall take your places as Mei snares more subjects."

The two had no reponse.

"Your true forms here however shall serve me and capture hardier targets. Those who have strong connections to Digimon. Examine the databases, select a target for your test run," He ordered.

The two's eyes glowed as they ran the data, exhcnaged opinons, and came to a conclusion.

"We have selected a target. Desgination, Digidestined. Type, Chosen, Crestbearer. Crest of Light, Kari Kamiya. Location Estimate, Tokyo, Odaiba."

Datamon nodded.

"Excellent. Proceed with your mission. Be aware of the Digidestined. Data from paralell universes indicates even in those realms they have unexpected powers, in this dimension, they bear their own Quirks in addition to this. Her quirk presents litle risk, it is similar to the very first quirk in that her body can glow brightly. But her power as the bearer of the Crest of Light cannot be underestimated."

"Yes, master. We are studying known data of this iteration of the target, and known data from other universes. We will use caution," they both said in unison.

"Then, commence your operation."

The two marched over to a monitor, taking up their phones, which now bore data akin to a digivice. They glowed, as did the monitor, and the portal took the two roboticised drones back to the real world to hunt their target....
