The Gengar sighed, feeling lonely once more. Once this old abandoned mansion had been teeming with ghosts... but then someone dug open an old tomb and the Cofagrigus in there invited ghosts from all around to move in.
But not him! This was his home! He was born here... probably... and he would die here!
Wait, no. He was already dead, sort of...
The bottom line was... No ghosts, no visitors. It wasn't like the door would open and some kind of optimistic idiot would wander in hoping for just one...
The door creaked open, and in came a single trainer, wearing a red cap, blue vest, and darker blue shorts.
"Hmm... there's got to be at least one ghost pokemon left in here!" Ash Ketchum said.
He had left Pikachu back at his campsite with the others, and decided to have a quick look in the mansion. He began poking around the place, to the disbelief of Gengar.
'This is ridiculously convenient...' the Ghost though. But it realised a problem.
If the trainer caught him, he'd be leaving his home. Hmm... Maybe the Gengar needed to figure out a way to up the number of ghosts... And this trainer would help!
Staying invisible, the Gengar tracked Ash as he looked through room after room.
"Hello? Ghosts? You don't need to hide..." He said, while tossing an empty pokeball up and down in his hand.
Ash eventually found a mirror, and upon looking in it, saw a skeleton staring back for a moment until he blinked. He frowned.
"So they have a haunted mirror but all the ghosts are gone? Weird..."
He didn't notice Gengar standing just behind him, and the purple grinning ball wondered if this was a good idea given how oblivious the human was. But it was worth a shot.
The ghost reached out, and then jumped into Ash. The human yelpled at the cold sensation entering his body, and groaned....
"Ugh... Wha...."
He blinked... and his eyes turned red in the mirror.
"Heheh... Gengar!" Ash/The Gengar said, drawing on ghostly energies, letting the human absorb them.
Shadows flowed around him like wind, the ghostly power writihing around the human as his body began giving off a faint purple glow. The curtains waved, the light fixtures rattled, the skeleton in the mirror went for a cigarette break, and then with a wave of darkness flowing out, Ash was gone... and two Gengar now stood in the room, one the original, and the other, wearing a red cap. The cap-wearing one blinked once more, and his eyes turned from brown to the same red as a regular Gengar, and the smile spread out across his newly spectral face.
"Well now, new Ghost... we've got a job to do. Do you remember where any other humans are? Because we're going to..."
"Prank them? Steal their stuff?!" The new one replied excitedly.
The original considered this.
"I was going to say 'turn them into ghosts to lure more people in to try catch us' but I guess we could do that too..."
The new Gengar saluted.
"You can count on me, boss!" He said, before running off.
The original Gengar wondered again if this was a mistake.
