It was a quiet afternoon in the Owl House, King dozing in a sunbeam, Hooty being uncharacteristically silent, Eda lounging on the sofa, and Luz at Hexside.
And it remained quiet when Luz returned a few moments later, downtrodden.
"Welcome back, kid... Something the matter?" Eda said, noticing the human's demeanour.
"Oh, hi, Eda... It's nothing, just Boscha being Boscha," Luz sighed.
"...Which one's she again, the one with the hook earning?"
"No, that's Viney. Boscha's the one with three eyes."
"Right. So what's this Bossy up to?"
Luz sighed again.
"She just... keeps on calling me round-ears. Today she was going completely nuts with it and it's just so repetitive. Ugh, I'm madder she's so unoriginal than the fact she's messing with me so much. And it's not even worth smacking her over it," Luz quietly grumbled the last part.
"Now, now, Luz, violence is not the answer. It's the question, the answer is yes," Eda said sagely.
Luz stared at her for a moment.
"...But probably a good thing you don't smack her unless you trick her into a witch's duel or something."
"Yeah, I guess. Anyway, I'd better get some of my homework done before dinner..."
The Human went upstairs, leaving Eda to ponder the situation.
"Shame there's no quick, irresponsible fix to this thing about her ears. Oh, wait, yeah there is!"
King, breifly woke up, and spoke up.
"Uh, Eda, is this a horrible idea that's probably going to backfire horribly?"
"Nope!"
"That's a yes, then," King rolled his eyes and went back to sleep.
The evening and night had been quiet too. The next morning, not so much.
"EDAAAAAA!" Luz shrieked from upstairs.
"...It backfired already?" King said.
"We don't know that yet. It could be something completely unrelated," Eda replied.
Luz the Human then came down the stairs... her round ears now distinctly pointy.
"Eda, my ears are pointy! This feels weird! Am I mutating from magic exposure?!" She panicked.
"Whoa, calm down, Luz, that's not it at all! I just decided to help you out with Bossy. That's just a glamour effect tonic I may or may not have slipped into your food that works a bit like an illusion to make ears look a little pointier!"
Luz stared.
"So my ears should feel normal? They should just look pointy?"
"Yep! But if you want I can just undo it."
Luz walked over, and placed Eda's hand on one of her ears.
Eda felt the very real pointy ear.
"...Uh oh. That's not supposed to happen."
"You said you could undo it, right? Can you do that please?"
Eda nodded, and fetched the antidote.
"Here, should work in a few seconds."
Luz downed it, gagging at the taste.
"Ugh, that tastes awful..."
Eda raised a brow.
"Uh, it should be completely tasteless like the first potion was, unless you were double dosed... and should have worked already again unless you were double dosed. Wait, what track is Bossy in?"
"...Potions," Luz said
Eda realised what had happened.
"Ah farts, that's probably why she was going all in on the round ears thing."
