It should have been just another selfie, but for Lucy, AKA blondebabe889892022, this was to prove a rather monumental one. For unknown to her, someone had tampered with her phone.

It took her picture, yes, but as she smiled for her camera, making the peace sign and giving a smile, it did something else. It gave off an oddly greenish flash... and she felt stiff.

The smile froze in place. The peace sign locked solid. She had no idea what was happening.

And her phone camera flashed and flashed, uploading pic after pic. On the site, her followers were treated to seeing the sequence as her smiling face turned greyer and greyer, until she was standing there, a granite statue, wearing her unaffected purple sweater.

The comments marvelled at the effect. They said it was great photoshop work.

But of course, one person knew the truth. For Lucy's friend and roommate, Moira, had been the one to tamper with the phone. Upon seeing the pics uploading, she raced home, and whooped with delight.

"Aw man, it worked! Sorry, Lucy, but I had to try it out... I've got a revert spell though!"

With a gasp, Lucy returned to life.

"Moira.... Don't practice magic on me like that! I've told you a hundred times!" Lucy fumed.

"Yeah, yeah, sorry, buuuuut.... I have an idea. Check your feed, those pics have blown up,"

"Wait, it uploaded.... Ohmigod... Wait, they have blown up. Whoa, I'm trending?!"

All concern at being a guinea pig was gone.

"Anyway, so, I have that ticket for a world tour vacation, and I was thinking, I have that shrinking spell, so... I can petrify you, shrink you, and then you can get more statue-selfies the world over!"

"...So I'd be a little statue in your luggage most of the time?" Lucy frowned.

"Yeah, but you'd get a bajillion views and likes and stuff!"

Lucy considered declining, for all of half a second.

"Alright, I'm in! But first another selfie!"

And Lucy once more petrified herself, this time eyes closed, the peace sign over them. Despite her shut eyelids, the magic worked, and another statue-sequence was posted, to similar delight.

"...By the way, I can set that to a time limit, and I had it set to three hours, so... bye!" Moira grinned, leaving her roomie as a decoration.

Lucy, however, didn't really care. There was something kind of peaceful about being a statue...

And so it was, a few weeks later, after having been petrified a few more times in a few more poses, the pair set off, one dressed for her tour, the other, a shrunken statue, posed with her hand out, able to fit her phone when at full size, the other hand up brushing her hair back as she gave a smile.

The comments on each post flooded in, admiring the 'manip' work, commenting on the locations, some suspecting from her consistent pose they were all just good photoshops, until Moira also entered the frame on occasion.

In Tokyo, she had the date and place written on her forehead with a wipe-off marker. In Seoul, she and Moira stood outside Gyeonbokgung Palace. In India, she stood before the Taj Mahal. In Paris she was a statue atop the Eiffel Tower. In London she rode the London Eye petrified. In Edinburgh, she was the rock, not the souvenir candy. In New York she was a sculpture selfie atop the Empire State Building. And finally, back home she was a statue one last time in that pose, back in her room.

But it wasn't the last time Lucy's statue would be uploaded...
