Team Rocket had emerged, as usual, to ambush Ash and Company. As usual, they were engaging in their standard spiel, which on closer inspection really didn't make any sense, but then again neither did Jessie's hair, so I guess it's even.

"Surrender now, or prepare to fight!" James finished, and then paused.

"I said, surrender now or prepare to fight!"

"...I forget, am I supposed to say 'Meowth' or 'Gatomon'?" Asked "Meowth"

"Yeah, I was gonna say, Meowth looks a bit weird today..." Ash said.

"He's on vacation, we're working with a temp," Jessie sighed.

"Not my fault the local 'mon can only say their own names," Gatomon shrugged.

"Pika? Pika-pi!" Pikachu protested.

"What?"

"I think he said something very rude. Just a guess," Misty said.

"Hang on, I have a phrase book here... Did he say 'Pika? Pika-pi!' or 'Pika! Pika-pi?' there?"

"First one, I think," James said.

"Ah... That means 'a temp? Seriously, what?'. Well, for your information, you electric rat, catnip is pretty expensive, and my usual partner is refusing to buy more than sixteen kilos a week."

"Pika?"

Gatomon flicked through the phrasebook.

"Yes, I do have a problem. I don't have enough catnip, that's my problem."

"Pi-pi-pika."

More page-turning.

"Well, yeah, it is kind of cliché but in all honesty, balls of wool aren't really as interesting as you'd think after a while."

"Anyway, now that's all sorted, hand over the Pikachu, blah blah, blasting off again," Jessie sighed.

"Wait, you're not actually attacking us?" Misty frowned.

"The temp isn't trained for blasting off," James pointed out.

"And I told your Human, Pokemon, and Other Mon Resources guys that I've taken harder hits to the face in my regular job! Seriously, for a criminal organisation with vague goals and morals you guys are slaves to health and safety," Gatomon said.

"More than my job's worth," Jessie shrugged.

"Well, I guess it doesn't matter, either way, I get paid."

Team Rocket and their temp then left, leaving a puzzled group of travelling companions.

"Well, that was weird," Ash said.

"Pika."

"What happened anyway?" Brock spoke up.

"...You were here the whole time," Misty pointed out.

"I fell asleep during their speech, couldn't you see my eyes were closed?"

"...Not really."
