"She came in here!" One of the thugs yelled.
'Stating the obvious and revealing their position. Clearly not the sharpest tools in the shed...,' Selphie thought to herself.
She was currently crouched in the shadows of a freight warehouses rafters. A local gang of thugs had been causing grief to this suburb of Deling City, with a number of killings pinned on the group. Extortion, threats, assault, robbery, the gang were a criminal reign of terror. What few lights worked were dim: Even in daylight this place was probably pretty dark.
But the local police were largely powerless. Post-Deling, manpower was short. They couldn't risk trying to raid and arrest the criminals, for fear of more bloodshed. So, SeeD had been hired. Selphie had managed to track the criminals down alone, and draw them into an ambush.
"Come out, girl! There's way more of us than there is you," Someone else yelled.
Flashlights darted around through the shadows, erratic and amateurish searching. They were more giving their own positions away than anything. Perfectly fine if they had some random victim cornered, probably.
But Selphie Tilmitt was a SeeD. She watched a small group of thugs walk between an aisle of crates, and decided it was time to put the lights out.
"Thundaga!"
The spell struck the metal roof of the building as she jumped onto the top of a crate, the powerful lighting magic coursing through the entire metal structure. She heard some of the thugs cry out, close to something metal and getting a shock as a result. The few remaining lights exploded, and the electromagnetic energy caused the flashlights to blow their bulbs.
"What the hell?! What just happened?"
"Little bitch used magic! Where is she?" One thug yelled.
'Oh... Did you call me a bitch?'
Moving silently over the crates, she dropped down behind the rude thug, swiftly striking him in the back of the head with her nunchaku. He dropped like a bag of bricks, causing a nearby thug to turn just in time to take the next swing into his face.
"She's he-" A third managed to shout before being silenced by the third swing.
Six other thugs converged on the area, finding nothing but their three comrades lying unconscious.
"...M-maybe we shouldn't call her a bitch," One stammered.
Another slapped him in the back of the head.
"Bullshit! She's just one little girl, these morons probably attacked each other," Slapper growled.
Selphie decided that wasn't a bad idea, actually...
"Confuse!"
Slapper jerked as the spell hit him, raising his club and smacking the man beside him. The men descended into a brawl, blind to the fact that Selphie had dropped behind them and was readying another spell.
"What the... I'm blind!" One protested as Slapper then knocked him out with a bat to the face.
Eventually, only the stammering one and Slapper remained, and when the former got a lucky hit in, Slapper blinked awake.
"...Wait, where am I?" He wondered.
"Somewhere not nice," Selphie said in his ear as she then threw a thundaga spell into his back.
"N-no! Please don't hurt me!" Stammerer wailed as Slapper fell to the ground convulsing.
"How many more of your friends are there?"
"There's three cars on th-the way!" He said, glancing over her shoulder.
She shot a thundaga spell off at the thug trying to sneak up on her.
"And in the building?"
"Two more other than me!"
"Nope! You were right the first time!" She grinned.
As she cast sleep, she noted she might have scared him a little too much.
"Ew, gross. I hope you two have better bladder control," She sighed to the other two trying to sneak up.
"Nice try, ya little slut, but he lied. There's four of us, and we got ya surrounded," A voice leered from shadows ahead of her.
"I meant you two in front of me, the ones behind me are gonna need new underwear as well."
"Sure, bi-"
She moved so fast the two behind her just saw the glint of her nunchaku, and heard the cruch of teeth and noses breaking.
"So, anyway, fellas, your turn," She said.
One pulled a shotgun and fired. He would have missed by a mile anyway, but Selphie jumped up on top of a crate as his pellets splintered another wooden box.
"Oh, that's just rude, and there was me thinking we could play it with some honour. Hand to hand... or, well, nunchaku to face, I guess. Huh, that's not very honourable come to think of it. Neither is magic though," She said, loosing off two more thundagas that knocked the last men down.
"And I think I hear the cars full of your buddies coming!"
The three cars pulled up, the thugs inside producing an array of guns as they exited.
"The others got the SeeD bastard pinned in here!" One who seemed to be a leader proclaimed. He wore sunglasses and a suit, and what looked to be a terrible wig.
"Hey, boys! I'm actually up here," Selphie shouted from her new vantage point, the roof of the building.
"Shoot her!"
Casting haste on herself , she unleashed a volley of slow spells as she jumped down.
The thugs moved in apparent glacier speed to try and pull the trigger of their guns. She yanked one from the hands of a shooter and began disassembling it before him, before moving onto the next one. Soon, all the gunners were pulling triggers that were now flying away, staring in shock as their guns disintegrated, before getting a blow to the head.
The leader-type was trying to swing a katana. A fairly amauterish posture on it, if she was any judge. She yanked it from his hands, snapped it over her knee, then put in back in his grasp, grinning as his eyes widened. She then grabbed his wig and impaled it on the remains of the blade he held, before swinging her nunchaku to finish off the other thugs that were standing.
She dispelled the slow on him and the haste on her as his men collapsed.
"Wh-what the... You're just one girl!" He protested
"Nope! I'm a SeeD, and a one woman army!" She grinned, knocking him out.
