Sometimes, the life of a soldier in Alexandria could be frustrating. Even the life of a General. At least, in terms of the weather. Well, and of late, certain children of certain Queens and Prince Consorts running around now she'd learned to walk, but she wasn't quite that bad yet. No, the weather was the main frustration of late, especially in late summer/early autumn, when the four seasons seemed to want to try and visit all in one day.

Beatrix had awoken to a warm and muggy morning. It had been too hot for her usual gear of her long coat, so she had resorted to her alternative General's outfit - one that more closely resembled that of a regular soldier, bar the Rose symbol on her breastplate.

And yet, even though all she was doing was trying to write up menial reports and the basic day to day drudgery of the paperwork associated with being a General, she still had sweat pouring from her. Selecting this particular office facing eastwards had perhaps been a mistake all those years ago.

"It's too hot this morning even for this..." She groaned as lunch neared, or rather, was brought to her.

Her husband, Major Adelbert Steiner, had his sympathies.

"I'm thankful we at least don't have to wear full plate mail at all times in the Knights of Pluto," He noted.

"Especially not on your days off," She smirked.

"Indeed."

After lunch and Steiner had left, she had to inspect the patrols.

This was when the sun decided to go away, and it decided to rain - but remain ludicrously warm.

"Well, this is wonderful. I'm already boiling, and now I either wear a heavy raincoat or get soaked," she sighed, looking out on the soaking battlements.

Fortunately, the temperature began to drop. Unfortunately, the rain did not let up, and Beatrix had mistakenly thought that it was better to cool off a little in the rain than boil in a raincoat.

Accordingly, she was feeling rather wet and cold as night fell and her inspections concluded. And of course, her office was by now freezing.

'It's either too hot or too cold. Why can't this blasted weather make its mind up?!'

She made a choice, opening the door to a soldier standing guard outside her office.

"...Sergeant, take a message to the Queen, I wish to have a meeting with her at the earliest convenience to discuss the possibility of trying to develop an all-weather uniform," she managed to only slightly shiver as she issued the order.

"Yes, ma'am... "

As the Sergeant went off on the errand, Beatrix realised that she should also have asked for some firewood to be sent up.

"...Bugger."
