Discovering a glitch between two different digital worlds that allowed virtually direct travel between the two had come as both a surprise, and not much of a shock, to two groups of Digidestined. Or rather, one group of Destined and one group of Tamers. Koushiro "Izzy" Izumi had been excited by the prospect of exploring a parallel earth, as had many of the others involved... only for it to emerge the destined could not leave the digital world of the tamers except via the glitch, and vice-versa. The other Earth was off-limits.

Still, it meant two different digital worlds, and stories could be swapped at least - And apparently, Digimon too, as it emerged somehow deceased Digimon from the Tamers realm had been reborn in Primary Village. This was excellent news for Juri Katou, as her partner Leomon was amongst them. However, as he was now from a different Digital world, he was unable to go to her Earth any more.

And then they found a glitch within a glitch. Izzy had dubbed it the "debug room", for it appeared to be an area where code could be manipulated far easier than any other. Ken had recognised it: similar, artificial versions had been built by himself as the digimon emperor, but far more limited in size and capabilities.

The capabilities of the debug room were virtually unlimited. And so, with such a wide range of options, with near godlike limitless power.... Eight of them decided to try using it for a Halloween party. Or, at least, trying to see if it could be used for one.

"Alright, I'm set up. Who wants to try getting a costume first?" Ken announced, looking up from a laptop.

He, Yolei, their digimon, Takato, Guilmon, Juri, and Renamon all waited at the edge of the glitch area, with a small picnic basket.

"I'll try. How does it work?" Juri offered.

"You just think of what the costume is, think of yourself wearing it, and go into the glitch area. It should change your appearance."

Nodding, the brunette tamer entered the glitch, and with a glow of data, she changed. Her green dress was replaced with black leather trousers and a green tank-top, whilst her skin was also covered in an orange-furred bodysuit.

"It's meant to be like a female version of Leomon," she said, referencing her formerly-deceased and presently absent partner.

"Looks good! Can I go now?" Takato spoke up.

The Tamer gogglehead went in, and was immediately clad in a Guilmon costume.

"Looks like Takatomon is you now, Guilmon," Yolei joked.

The slightly slow virus digimon did not get it.

"How about you try, buddy?" Takato urged his slightly puzzled partner.

"Okay..."

The red dinosaur-like digimon walked forward... and changed into an orange dinosaur.

"Takatomon, look, I'm an Agumon now!"

"Huh. It looks like Digimon actually change shape in there. But it's still Guilmon. Try attacking that tree," Wormmon noted.

Guil/Agumon complied.

"Pyro Sphere!"

The tree tried to surrender prior to the attack, but lacking arms, failed and found itself scorched.

"Yep, he's still a Guilmon," Hawkmon nodded.

"I wonder what happens when we try become something other than a digimon," Wormmon pondered as he walked forward.

He transformed into a Caterpie.

"...What's that?" Juri wondered.

"...I want to call you a traitor for some reason," Renamon frowned.

"It's from a franchise in our world, I guess it doesn't exist in yours. It's called Pokémon," Wormmon replied.

"Gee, that sounds original... let me guess, there's a card game(?)" Takato rolled his eyes.

"And an anime, and videogames where the franchise started, and stage shows, concerts and albums..." Yolei began but was waved into silence by Hawkmon.

"Don't, Yolei, if you get into too much detail they'll probably complain there's too much water. I'll go next."

Hawkmon entered the glitch, and not only changed shape, but size. A large chocobo stood there, but patterned like Hawkmon.

"It's wark and kweh, right?"

"Yeah. I know what I wanna try!" Yolei surged forward, and her clothing became a pink dress and red jacket, whilst her helmet became a wig of brown hair in a long ponytail.

"Aerith from Final Fantasy, matches with your chocobomon," Ken nodded.

"...Aerith?" Juri wondered.

"Yeah. Is she called something else in yours? Wait, did she die in your version?" Caterpie/Wormmon asked.

"Well, yeah, she was just Aeris, but we could revive her in the 2007 remake," Takato nodded.

"Aw man, you guys got a remake?!"

"We grow side-tracked. Renamon, do you have an idea?" Juri/Leowomon said.

"Wait, is it me or does she sound a little different..." Guil/Agumon wondered.

Renamon distracted everyone by walking forward, and assuming the guise of a red-haired human female in blue jeans and a white heart-motif shirt.

"Oh, hey, Renamon is Rukimon now!" Takato/Guilmon clapped.

"My turn then," Ken said as he entered, and his appearance changed to that of a slightly shorter than normal Gallantmon.

"...Oh, I can become that too sometimes," Takato/Guilmon noted.

"Caterpie?"

"...Wait, that's not right," Yolei frowned.

"Wark?"

"Uh oh, I think there's a problem here," Guil/Agumon noted.

"What kind of problem?" Ruki/Renamon wondered.

"Pepper Breath!"

The tree would have asked 'whyyyy' if it could speak. It could not.

"...How is that a problem?" Leowomon wondered.

"I, uh... I dunno, I just thought I should be using something else....

"Hm... Can I use pepper breath?" Guilmon wondered.

"No, you use Pyro Sphere, as do I in lower level incarnations," Gallantmon nodded.

"Uh, I don't mean to sound rude but... the chocobo can't talk, can he?" Aerith wondered.

"...Wark?" The chocobo wondered.

"No, neither can the Caterpie, I thought you knew that, Aerith..." Ruki replied.

"Remember this is not her world, Ruki, it's only natural she has questions," Leowomon said.

"It's fine, she's right. Don't know why I asked... So, uh, this party glitch thing doesn't seem to work out at all, does it?"

"Nay. Not one of us assumed a costumed form. I wonder what error I made," Gallantmon said.

"Well, we wanted a test party, so let's have the party even if the costumes didn't work, right?" Agumon noted.

"Yeah! I want some bread!" Guilmon grinned.

When they left the glitch, the error would probably become apparent. But for now...
