Artmaker Basilisks are a strange race of anthromorphic lizards with petrifying gazes that occupy an area around an interdimensional rift, sometimes called the Great Rift, but normally just the Okay Rift to the basilisks, who merely think it's alright. Nothing all that fantastic, interdimensional shenanigans are dime a dozen these days. 

For whatever bizarre reason, these basilisks use their powers to create different kinds of art. Drawings, paintings, photographs, miniature models, complete replicas of the statue, clothing, stories, if it qualifies as art an Artmaker Basilisk has some excuse to petrify someone for a while to make it. As they release their victims to prevent temporal paradoxes, they are largely harmless. 

To conduct this task, they will however engage in wanton theft. Advanced technology from across time and space is often stolen by the Artmakers, often for the most ludicrous of purposes. Holographic projectors intended as cloaking devices? Re-purposed into holographic dress design studios. Nanomachine walls intended to build rapid shelters in disaster areas? Adjusted to form temporary facsimiles of clothing to make a statue resemble something else. Instant microwave ovens that can heat food in seconds? Used to fast-dry clay. Bags for making baked potatoes in a microwave? Still completely useless even to an Artmaker Basilisk, the potato just won't be baked, at all. 

Seriously, it'll be raw in the middle. 

However, they can be selfish creatures at times. Due to being unoriginal, they sometimes attempt to pinch subjects from each other: Drawing a victim someone else petrified. This can cause tension, though as they cannot petrify themselves and seem largely immnue to most other forms of it, it only results in angry glares and the odd fist fight. 

They do ally together at times though. As long as they have a shared goal for a collaboration, they will work together. Unless they don't like each other, of course.

Some Notable/Notorious Artmaker Basilisks

Elzy - A basilisk with highly skilled powers of petrification, but not much in terms of actual artistic vision. Though he can petrify with immense precision and even specific time limits, he can only write - and even then he's hardly Shakespeare. He is also quite forgetful, sometimes leaving victims lying around for quite a while before returning them, which has caused some conflict with the Temporal Paradox Police. He also does not have much of a knack for stolen technology, relying on notepads and more basic computers.

Efra - A basilisk who can be best described as fairly mundane. Able to draw, decent petrification skills, she mainly stands out in two ways: She prefers to disguise herself to approach targets, and she loathes Elzy. This latter instance is hardly unique, but she called it first. She favours technology that allows better drawings, such as tablets and holographic canvasses. 

Teebee - A basilisk who likes to create and sell clothing, petrifying targets as dressmakers dummies. Lacking the precision to not petrify clothing, he either hires others with that skill to capture subjects, or if they have ugly clothing, he just destroys it off their bodies. He usually makes a new set for them. Usually. He uses a hologram projector to make designs of clothing on his dummies before sewing the actual thing - an idea he totally did not get from a Minecraft mod that lets you do something like that.

Ohcee - A basilisk who favours oil colours, a rare art even amongst the artmakers. However, this reflects in his personality. Smug, pretentious, smug, arrogant, and smug, he is often dubbed "Do Not Steal" by people who don't like him - IE, pretty much everyone, on account of being smug. He is especially smug about his girlfriend Kayem as she steals rather smug things for their home. A smug ferrari, A smug 32k tv, even a smug coffee machine. Did we mention he was smug?

Kayem- A basilisk who works with rather basic drawings, she actually is more a kleptomaniac than an artist.  Her victims often find themselves stark-naked, any money gone, their car stolen, and sometimes even their house ransacked. Nowhere near as smug as her boyfriend, but smug enough about having a talented boyfriend who does a rare thing. She oddly does not steal things that make stealing easy - or at least, if she does, she often doesn't actually use them.

Dubbee - A basilisk with a very weak gaze that barely paralyses targets. As a result of this, he works with photography, and has also stolen a few devices that help keep subjects still or pose-able: Freeze rays, puppet rigs, large stacks of counterfeit money to bribe people with. Due to his weakness and the fact that his technological aids do not always work perfectly, he often enlists another 'lisk to help out. Unfortunately for him, he's rubbish at photoshop and trying to make the pictures look flesh and blood, well, the results are as horrifying as Ohcee is smug. IE, very.

Efef - A basilisk who does not favour a single art style, but rather infamously operates in mostly erotic or ecchi works using the power of seduction to snare victims. Using a shapeshifting device and various hypnotic suggestion fields, she can assume any appearance to seduce virtually anything, making them assume almost any pose. This has sometimes backfired on her though, as though in basilisk form she is immune to her own species gaze, her shapeshifting device is powerful enough that the shapeshifted form is not.  Mirrors can be her worst enemy.

Peeler - A basilisk with very simple (but slightly pervy) tastes. He simply petrifies a victim, peels their clothes off, then sculpts a replica of the nude statue. He often works with Efef, but she is generally wary of him as he has tried to petrify her in a shapeshifted form more than once. He does have a lazy streak, though - he has been known to target already-nude individuals. This results in his gallery having a redundantly-large number of statues of "x in the shower".

Esar - A basilisk who, despite having access to pretty much all of time, space, dimensions, and potato salad, chooses to petrify targets to use them to cosplay someone else - who is also petrified, which is somewhat redundant for obvious reasons. Most other basilisks try to tell her she could just petrify the originals, but even when she thinks that is a good idea, they wind up cosplaying something else. She is also quite varied, working in virtually every art form - even interpretive dance, despite how bloody pointless that is when you think about it. She sometimes uses nanomachines to make the target look more like another subject, but she has also been known to try using clay or just actual clothes added to a statue.

Constables Beekay and Kayjay: Fraternal twin basilisks who work for the Temporal Paradox police. Nicknamed Buzzkill and Killjoy, the pair can be ruthless sticklers to the letters of paradox prevention laws. The pair generally make small miniatures of their subjects, but their main passion is for what they dub the art of law - and what everyone else dubs being buzzkilling stickler killjoys. As a result they are usually too busy chasing down other basilisks to ensure they are not causing paradoxes and properly releasing subjects
