Steiner was not exactly romantic. He hadn't been the author of the original letter that led Beatrix to the dock that night (Eiko and Doctor Tot were to thank for it), and he likely would never have ever thought of such a thing. But he did not miss the significance of it.
A year after, he did write the next letter. A year after that, his second letter was passed over to his wife on the day of their wedding. And so it was every anniversary.
