Quite how he had gotten here, he didn't know, but Kaa had often found himself in strange places for no apparent reason. The Indian Rock Python did not like this 'jungle' as much as his own (the local snakes called it a 'forest') but he made do. Hypnotising mice and rabbits had been rather easy, but he preferred larger prey - and the sound of human footsteps fit that bill nicely. 

He dropped down from his branch, only to suffer three surprises. One, there was a mass of other snakes looking at him. Two, they were attached the head of the human who he was gazing at.

The third surprise was that he found himself unable to move.

"You dumbass, why would you try a hypnotic gaze on a gorgon of all creatures?!" One of the head-snakes said.

"Be nice, Agapios, he would have no idea," A female head-snake sighed.

The 'gorgon' poked Kaa's petrified form, making him swing slightly on the branch his stone body was coiled and dangling from.

"What a strange snake," she shrugged, and continued on her way.

Kaa swung back and forth a few moments, thinking only one thing:
