(An Alternative Version of BB-Random: Lost The Bet)

Sora Takenouchi knew that 'Stupid Tai' was something she often thought. And said. And thought again. She also knew that technically, at least she was being kind of mature (but not really) about it by not substituting 'stupid' for ruder terms more likely to be used by people her age.

But hey, Tai was a childhood friend, 'Stupid Tai' was a childhood phrase, and frankly, Tai was stupid. But not as stupid as she was feeling. 

Just because the Japanese Women's Team had won the Women's World Cup in 2011, she and the rest of the Odaiba Junior High Girls Soccer Team had become caught up in a wave of patriotic girl power as the tournament came around again, betting with the Boy's team that Nadeshiko Japan would once again be triumphant. 

If they were right, the boys would have to wear girl's uniforms all day. If they were wrong, the girls would wear swimsuits all day. Somehow the principal had signed off on it, as she thought it was worth the risk for the potential hilarity. Er, an interesting inter-team competition.

Five American goals in the final ruined the prospect for hilarity as far as Sora was concerned, And that was why she was currently muttering 'Stupid Tai' to herself as she, Mimi, Hikari, and Stupid Tai walked to school. 

And glowing bright red due to being the only one of the quartet wearing a school swimsuit instead a school uniform.

"She lost a bet," Mimi explained to a policewoman giving the group a confused look.

Sora was fortunately as red-faced as her hair already.

"Come on, Sora, you wear it for swim class and don't blush," Hikari said.

"Yeah, in a swimming pool, where everyone else is wearing swimsuits, not in a street where people are staring at me!" 

"I did try to get a different bet, Sora..." Tai tried to say again.

"For the last time, Tai, your plan of 'the girls wear the kit of their other sports club or team' had more holes in it than America scored goals! More than half the girls already were in the swimming team too, and some of them didn't have a team! What were they supposed to do?"

"I had a plan to cover that one!"

"You mean they were to show up naked?" Hikari suggested.

"No! They would just wear their soccer gear all day!"

"You're forgetting that 'the girls have to wear tennis or basketball or soccer gear all day' is way less embarrassing than 'all the boys cross-dress', Tai. Though you would probably have made a cute girl," Mimi noted.

They walked along in silence at this, even though Tai had began a Sora-Impersonation with the blush he had developed.

"Still, you did manage to stop everyone else joining in, so I suppose you saved half the school from wearing swimsuits all day, so thanks for that," Sora conceded.

"And also lost us the chance to be an all-girls school for a day if Japan had won. Of course, as an American I would..." Mimi began, only to be interrupted.

"You lived in America for three years, Mimi, that doesn't really count you as American!" Sora protested

"...I would have bet on the American team anyway," Mimi ignored her.

"She does vacation in Hawaii a lot," Hikari noted.

"And I was actually born in New York so I kinda sorta do have dual citizenship. Besides, in solidarity, I'm wearing my swimsuit too, under my uniform," Mimi grinned.

"...You're sure you're not just being lazy because you actually have swim class later?"

"Solidarity!"

More silence fell, until Mimi broke it again by holding a bread roll up beside Sora's face.

"Mimi, what the..."

"Aw, you're not blushing hot enough to toast it," she pouted.

"Why would you even think that was possible?!" Sora shouted.

"Well, it was a pretty good idea I thought," Tai jumped in.

"Yeah, but you're an idiot! And so is Mimi!"

"If I was an idiot would I have a plan to make this work? Tai, compliment her figure in her swimsuit or something, make her blush more!"

"THAT WON'T WORK EITHER!" 

"...Drat, making you angry didn't make it toast either. And Tai's no good either even he is blushing more than you now." 

They soon reached the school, and Sora once more felt very stupid as she met with the other team members who had arrived.

No one had specified what kind of swimsuits, after all. Noriko and Mikoto, two of her fellow team members, had found a work-around.

"Wetsuits are cheating!" Sora protested, knowing that inevitably...

"Uh, well, we did only say swimsuits, and I guess those are swimsuits..." Taichi scratched the back of his head.

Stupid Tai!

"And Chie, did you chicken out?" Sora pointed at a girl still in uniform.

"I'm wearing it underneath, see?" Chie lifted her shirt to show a swimsuit below.

"Hey, that's what I'm doing out of solidarity!" Mimi grinned.

"Laziness," Sora and Kari corrected.

Most of the other soccer players arrived in the next few minutes, and to Sora's relief most of the girls had not exploited loopholes, except Akane who had put the swimsuit on over her regular uniform. To her dismay the boys all seemed to agree they'd been outsmarted and that the four had still done the bet correctly.

"Well, at least twenty-two people other than me are gonna feel stupid today," Sora muttered.

"Oh, cheer up, Sora, since you girls have all been such good sports maybe the boys could do something in return? Like, maybe their Captain could do their forfeit tomorrow..."

"W-what?! Why would I..." Tai began.

"I think that's a pretty good idea, sempai," one of the younger boys noted.

"Yeah, Tai, that's only fair," Misato, a goalkeeper, agreed.

Tai looked at Daisuke, confident he'd get support there.

"Well, I dunno..." the other goggle-head began.

Mimi then handed him a thousand yen note

"...it does seem like it'd only be fair," he betrayed.

"...I'm not getting a choice in this, am I?" Tai groaned.

"...Nope," the entire assembled group of girls and boys team members agreed.

"Don't worry, Tai, me, Sora, and Hikari can help you get ready tomorrow!" Mimi beamed.

"That's what I'm worried about though!" 

"Heh, stupid Tai..." Sora grinned at her friend's dismay.
