Amy Rose looked up at the night sky and sighed. Once more she had went through a day where Sonic had not become hers.

"Why doesn't he even seem to notice me? I'm bright pink, how can he miss me?!" She fumed.

The stars gave no response to this, but she carried on.

"I don't know what it would take! I'd be loyal, I'd do anything for him! What more can he want!?"

She continued her ranting, asking aloud what was needed.

"Does he want me to be faster? I've practised running as much as I can! I'm almost as fast as him! I'm faster than Tails! Or... Or is it because I'm pink?! Maybe if I was blue... No, that's silly, I'd look like a boy.  Pink is fine... Um... Maybe if I was taller... Or... Maybe it's my clothes. Maybe he doesn't like them?"

She pondered this some more.

"...I guess it won't hurt to get a new wardrobe tomorrow. But I just wish I knew what I needed! I wish I could have a way to keep Sonic close to me all the time!"

As she shouted this to the heavens, she closed her eyes. She missed the shooting star.

It didn't miss her wish.

Sonic the Hedgehog awoke confused.

'Man, what a weird dream... I felt like I was just lying there and then I started to hollow out. My legs and arms started shrinking into my body, then my head went into my chest... And it was like I had holes appear in me... What did I eat to make me dream about that?!'

He then tried to sit up from bed, only to discover he was not in bed. He instead realised through his tired mind that when his eyes had opened, he was staring not at the ceiling, but at a row of dresses in a poorly-lit room.

'What... Where am I? This looks like a store or something... And it kind of feels like I'm standing up... But... I can't move... I can't even turn my head! This feels weird... What's going on? Am I still dreaming?'

As if on cue, the lights came on, and an albino Vixen wandered in yawning.

"...Hate getting up early to do stock checks..." She grumbled.

Sonic tried to speak, to ask what was going on, but found all he did just echoed in his mind.

'Hey, lady! Who are you and how did I get her?!'

She of course did not hear.

"Okay, so... Huh. Not seen a dress like this before. Little emeralds like eyes... Damn I need my coffee..." The vixien grumbled, then reached a hand towards Sonic.

To his surprise, he felt himself being lifted. A strange feeling like touching silk in reverse came through his whole body.

"...Kind of silky. Huh, that's weird. No price tag on any of them. Did the taggers screw up again? Great, now I need to check the whole of yesterday's batch!"

If he was still able to, Sonic would have blinked in confusion as it dawned on him.

'...I'm a dress?!'

Bewildered, thinking it all a strange dream, Sonic sat puzzled. Expecting to wake at any moment, wondering why he'd dream such a crazy dream, he was shaken from the sensation when he heard a familiar voice.

'Oh no... Anyone but her...'

Amy was up early, and after getting ready, looked critically at her clothing.

"...Jeez. I never realised it but all I have is the same red dress... Pretty much..."

One hanger she pulled from the closet was regarded with disdain.

"...And I still have this?!  Green and orange... What the heck was I thinking when I was younger?"

She looked. Apart from a couple of tracksuits, and some slight differences, everything she had seemed to be the same style of red dress.  Well, there was one she'd bought for running, but apart from a white skirt portion it was still red.

"...That settles it. I need some variety!"

She looked at the too-small, old dress.

"...Just not green and orange..."

She made her way to the store, intent on finding at least one new dress. And quickly she spotted one that took her fancy...

Sonic was now aware this was not a dream.

It was a nightmare. Amy Rose was looking right at him, and with the usual kind of look... except there was no escape. And her usual look was being aimed at him as fashion.

'...That's actually kind of disturbing now I think about it.'

"...Oh. This one's nice... A good shade of blue... And these little emeralds..."

Amy prodded the emeralds, and Sonic wanted to yelp. It was like being poked in the eye!

...possibly because that was exactly what had happened.

"...The blue reminds me of Sonic, and that green for the stones... Just like his eyes..."

'Um... This can't be possible. I can't have turned into a dress that's about to be bought by Amy... This is all just some crazy nightmare...'

"I need to try this on!"

'Wait! Don't! How can I be a comfortable dress?! Shouldn't I be spik.. Oh, yeah, she's a hedgehog too... Even if I was spiky it wouldn't matter would it...'

Sonic did not like being worn. It felt too warm, and if he had cheeks they would be as pink as Amy's quills at this point.

'At least I'm a dress and not something else...' He mentally shuddered.

Amy had first tried it on, then bought the dress along with some others, but she seemed most obviously pleased by the blue dress. She had virtually yanked it on the minute she got home, and Sonic feared he would tear like a tissue as she yanked it on so fast. The dress... Sonic... was actually quite a nice fit for Amy, as if it had been tailored just for her.

"Now to go find Sonic and see what he.... Oh..." She paused.

Sonic mentally perked up.

'Oh? Maybe she... Amy! Can you hear me?!'

"...He's going out of town for a couple of weeks. I forgot! I must have missed him going shopping! "

'She can't...'

She then blinked.

"Wait. I just did it again. I bought three of the same dress! Gha! Oh well, it's some variety... I guess I can go show this one to Cream or someone..."

She jogged a little on the spot.

"But y'know, these dresses are pretty comfy..."

'Wait. If you can't hear me, who the heck are you talking to then, Amy?'

Amy did not answer as she ran off.

'...And how the heck am I going to get turned back? I don't want to be a dress!'

Luckily for Sonic, Amy would do two things later that week. Forget how many dresses she had bought (concluding it was two) and wish he would return home earlier.

Not so luckily, that would be towards the end of the week. After a day in which Amy would do a surprising amount of running. And a day after she'd done laundry already. And not before she did it again, and not before she would accidentally leave the "dress" at the bottom of the basket with some other clothing...
