Every day you're sitting in front of me at least once I'm wondering if maybe you'll turn around at some point and ask me a question I want to hear.
Then I wonder if you ever would. Would you ever ask that question, Kyon?
And then I'm thinking you won't. You won't ask today at least. You don't seem to be paying much attention at all to things around you. You seem to miss the obvious.
But someday maybe you'll stop that. Could you someday notice? Some day turn around and ask?
Or maybe not turn around at all. Maybe you might ask somewhere else.
I don't think you could though. You lack imagination. You're pretty simple at times.
And I guess that's why I like you come to think of it.
So maybe I should ask myself what I wonder. Will I someday ask it myself? Or will I just come up with some scheme, claim it's for the Brigade, hope to maybe stop being so afraid of what might happen if I ask and you say no....
And I wonder if maybe you would say no. Why would you not. All I ever seem to do is drag you around. Make you do things you clearly don't want to do. Cross the line twice. Three times, four times, erase the line and ignore it's there at all...
Could you ever see past that? Ever realise it's just how I'm a little frightened? Ever see it's just me being me and reacting how I do?
And I think more. I already drag you around. I already make you do things you might not want. So what's to stop me trying here?
Would you fight back, I wonder, and then I start to hate that thinking. Of course you would. You're not a doormat as much as it might look like it to outsiders.
Could you fight me off? Definitely. I could never keep it up for long. I'd know eventually it was all a mistake and I had lost the minute I tried it that way I do.
But if I did it will you walk away?
Would you forgive me?
Could you ignore the mistake?
And then I'm realising it's better to just wait. I'm not patient, yes, but I can be. I will be, I would be, I could be.
And really, this is worth it too. If I don't ask will you still be the one to try and keep me in line, even if I deny it's there? Would you be there if I really needed you someday? Could you maybe like the way things are just now as well and you're as scared as me?
Those are the three questions I think I can answer just now.
And I'm sure that answer is yes.
