Fleeing the castle, Beatrix realised, had been somewhat too easy. She honestly thought she had trained her soldiers better than that... Or perhaps too well. Too loyal to her.
It then occurred to her that bemoaning this was probably foolish. But for some reason as she and the Burmecian Dragoon Freya were now alone it was either this or another foolish question.
"...Beatrix, can you undo this spell now?"
The currently red-haired Beatrix looked at the woman who had spoken. She was a slenderly built woman, with long white hair, blue-green eyes, and looking uncomfortable. She wore a red dress, black shorts, a sword belt, and plain sandals.
Currently, she was removing the sandals and adjusting the shorts.
"Alright. You're ready?"
The white haired woman glowered at her.
"I'm not trying to moon the wall. Why else am I pulling my shorts down?"
Beatrix waved her hand, the faint glow of magic on her fingers. The change was instant. The slender built woman grew fur across her whole body, a shade darker than her hair, her body shape altered slightly. Her feet and ankles shifted slightly, so she seemed to stand on her toes, and her fingernails became longer, like claws. Her nose stretched, became a snout... and in the space of a second it would appear she had transformed into a Burmecian.
The reality was Freya was merely losing her disguise. Beatrix lost her own, a slightly less dramatic instance of her hair turning back to brown, and the bandage over her eye becoming her silver eye patch.
"...You have no idea how strange it feels to be a human all day." Freya muttered.
"Well, of course I don't..." Beatrix wrly noted as the Burmecian adjusted the shorts again to prevent them falling down, but leaving her tail free.
"You know what I mean."
Beatrix shrugged.
"Once I used this spell and turned myself into a male when I was younger."
Freya paused as she was unbuckling her sword belt.
"You.... you can't do that to other people can you?"
Beatrix gave her a look that said she had no desire to confirm or deny the concern.
"I may be more willing to answer a different question." Beatrix said, wondering if maybe Freya would take the bait and allow her to ask her own question without looking too strange.
"Like what? Why you wear that eye patch?"
Beatrix grinned to herself on the inside. This might do it...
"Well... that's actually a rather large secret for me. Tell you what. I answer why I wear the eye patch, and any question I ask you, you answer, no matter what. Deal?"
Freya paused, wondering what exactly the human would ask. Curiosity won out though.
"...Deal."
Beatrix answered by lifiting the eye patch. Freya leaned a little closer without noticing it, and frowned.
Beatrix blinked as she removed the eye patch from her head entirely. Her very normal eye stared back at Freya.
"...There's nothing wrong with your eye at all."
"Look closer, Freya."
The Burmecian leaned in closer to do so, and noticed that the eye seemed... odd.
"Ah. The pupil on your covered eye doesn't dilate... Oh. It's just a really good glass eye. I get it."
Beatrix sighed, rolling her eyes, and shooting down Freya's theory.
"Oh. So that eye has a defect?"
"Yes. It cannot dilate to let more or less light in, meaning my vision from it is less than perfect. The eye patch... Well, I'll show you."
She put the patch back on, covered her good eye, and then spoke.
"Hold up some fingers."
Freya did not.
"You can see through the eye patch. I figured that."
Beatrix uncovered her eyes before continuing.
"Correct. The eye patch acts as a replacement for the pupil. It allows in or blocks as much light as it can. It has the added advantage of people thinking it's a blind spot."
Freya smirked.
"More fool them, then."
"Indeed. I noticed you seemed to be wary of attacking from that direction when we fought. That boy... Zidane... he seemed to be thinking it was a weakness of mine. Not his fault, I should add. He has no training, the act was likely intuitive."
"Probably. Zidane is infamous for acting on instinct. Now, Mikoto, she thinks things through."
Beatrix nodded.
"Yes, such as realising the best way to win against a master swordswoman is not to fight her up close."
"Very true."
Freya sat on her bed, question answered.
"My turn now..."
The Burmecian visibly tensed, but Beatrix did not notice as she pretended to ponder a good question. Freya however took it as a sign Beatrix knew just what to ask. And she'd be able to spot any deception or lie...
"Hm... Well, this may sound rather strange, but..."
'Here it comes. Some question about Burmecia that forces me to lie or answer and betray a secret...'
"...I have heard a rumour about Burmecians."
"W-what rumour might that be?" Freya said, inwardly cursing the small stutter she had just developed.
Beatrix blushed slightly, honestly feeling a little embarrassed now she was at the crunch.
"Well, they say that Burmecians... climax longer."
Freya was puzzled.
"...Clima... Oh, right. You mean we have longer orgasms when we have sex or masturbate."
Beatrix grew wide eyed in surprise at how bluntly Freya termed it.
"Well... I'm not sure if it is true. How long does it really last for humans when they're done?"
"W-Well er, a few seconds at most."
Freya was the one looking incredulous.
"...A few seconds? That's all?"
"Yes... Er, all?"
"Wow. I envy you humans. I thought that was a myth..." Freya sighed.
Beatrix was now feeling very shocked.
"...Envy us? Why?"
"Well, what exactly did the rumour say?"
"That you... climaxed for up to half an hour."
Freya rolled her eyes and sighed.
"Yeah, if we're lucky and don't get sexual paralysis..."
Beatrix was now very, very surprised.
"...What?"
"That doesn't happen in humans?"
Beatrix shook her head.
"I don't think it does.... What exactly happens?"
"Well, the reason it lasts so long is because... Well, unlike animals we don't have any sort of heat or breeding cycles... Er, do you humans have anything like that, by the way?"
Beatrix nodded.
"Females are only fertile for a short period every month."
"Oh. I see. That must be unfortunate for when you want children... but I guess it explains why human males seem so obsessed with casual sex if there are less risks. But, back to the point, it lasts so long because as our muscles down there spasm it's what helps encourage ovulation and more ejaculation from the male. It's also why we have more than one child at a time, usually. But because it can last so long, sometimes the rest of our bodies lock up."
"...So that's why it's called sexual paralysis."
"Yes. What happens is the first one ends too soon, and we go back down to being just about to have another. Now, normally when it's a male and a female, we're both quivering down there so the easiest fix can happen: the partner's own climax helps bring you back up." Freya said without even a hint of embarrassment at the discussion, even as Beatrix glowed like a radioactive tomato.
"So the two of you can't get trapped together? What if the male... withdrew... early?"
Freya shook her head.
"No, he's locked in. The tip of his penis will expand inside, and we sort of clamp on tightly so it can't come out."
Half of Beatrix had heard enough. The question was answered, and she had no desire to know the initmate secrets of Burmecian mating...
But that half was not making itself heard, and Freya continued.
"Now, that means it can be pretty tricky for us to have actual sex without some babies or five resulting. And at the same time we can't really go solo if you get my drift. We might get paralysed and be stuck there quivering on the edge for up to a whole day. So for us Burmecians, casual sex is basically we..."
"I can guess, thank you... " Beatrix cut her off, head swimming with the implications.
Silence fell on the room, and Freya lay back in her bed.
She finally realised what the reaction from the human actually was.
"...Er, I didn't weird you out there, did I? I guess since you humans don't have as many disadvantages you might be a little less open about problems like it.... And if you guys don't get paralysis I suppose you can masturbate easier since you don't need a friend on hand just in case..."
"No, it, er... It was merely a surprise to learn so much..."
There was more silence until Freya spoke up again.
"Trouble is, now I'm wondering what it must be like to be human and doing that."
Beatrix did not say that she was somewhat mirroring the thought... Pondering what it would be like "doing that" as a Burmecian...
...She was also pondering if Freya might be open to helping them both learn...
