"Ow, my head is killing me..." Tifa groaned as she sat up, or at least tried to.

Something blocked that progress. Blond, spiky, and lying on her stomach.

"...Well, I guess it could have been worse. Wake up, Cloud." She said, shifting herself from under him and trying to make him stir.

He soon did so, groaning also about his head.

"Tifa? Where are we?"

She took a look around. The room seemed to be an entrance hall to a mansion, a familiar place somehow but... something was different. The staircase led to a small balcony between floors, and then from there to the first floor proper, a gangway that led to two doors left and right, with large dusty windows letting in a little moonlight. Apart from that the only other sources of light were a few dim bulbs by the doors, and there seemed to be a table in the middle of the hallway now.

"...This looks like the Shinra mansion."

Cloud nodded. On the ground floor, there were two doors left and right, as well as two smaller alcoves. Below the balcony there was a single door.

Tifa however examined the table. There were two flashlights,  a bag of potions, and a few materia there. She had no gauntlets and Cloud had no sword.

"What do we have, Tifa?" Cloud asked as he walked over.

"Uh.... a Transform, a Fire, a Time, and a Contain materia. And a single low level all. There are eight hi-potions in the bag..."

She switched on a flashlight experimentally.

"At least the batteries are fresh in these things."

Cloud picked up the other one and tested it, causing a glowing circle of white light to be cast on the door below the stairs. And doing this, he noticed something.

"...Tifa, is it me, or is there a tiny door beside the big one?"

She looked, and frowned.

"...Yeah. There's a symbol above it. And above the normal door as well."

They examined all the doors in the hallway. The ground floor left hand side door had a symbol of a Frog above it. The right, a symbol that seemed to resemble Nanaki, or Red XIII. The upstairs doors had a Venus symbol on the left and a Mars symbol on the right, while the tiny door below the stairs had a picture of a small human shape, and the large door had a picture of a clock above it.

"Okay. So, we've got these six doors... and the doors back out. I guess I know which one I want to try." Tifa said, heading for the exit doors and trying them.

They clattered as the door moved slightly, stopped by a lock.

"Huh. Either we force the door or we try one of the others I guess... but I'm not so sure about those symbols above them." Cloud said.

"Me neither. But... we really have no idea what's going on here at all." Tifa replied as she examined the door with her light.

"Hey, there's a letter stuck to the door. With our names on it."

"This just got a lot creepier." Cloud sighed.

She removed it and opened the envelope. It was, to her dismay, typed and gave no clues like handwriting.  But the letter did seem to smell faintly of something flowery, but also of something a little musty and chemical. It bore a Shinra letterhead.

"What does it say?"

She frowned.

"It says... Well, it says we have seven doors. We need to pick which one to try. It doesn't say where we are, why we're here, but it just says to try one of the doors."

Cloud examined the letter.

"...Huh. Just the symbols, nothing about where they go."

Tifa sighed.

"Yeah. So, that's try and force the exit, or go for the Mars door, Venus door, Frog door,  Nanaki door, Tiny door or Clock door."

Cloud thought for a moment.

"Where do you want to try?"

Tifa shrugged.

"Up to you."
